1. I have invested in an Trace Elliott ELF and am blown away by it's sound and power. Although we are only a 3 piece we have a loud drummer and play upbeat Mod and Punk songs. Using it tonight through my 2 rumble 12 inch cabs it easily held its own in a pub of 100 loud punters. I had the gain and volume at 12 o'clock and the sound was lovely with my MIM Jazz. However my only concern was at the end of the gig the amp was red hot, almost to the point I struggled to pick it up till it cooled down. Has anyone else used one at a gig yet and found the same? My previous class D amps have never had this issue
2. When I got back into bass my gigging rig for 12months was a Vintage brand V4 bass, Hartke HA3000 and a Hartke 410 transporter. Total cost £230 and it not only sounded great but was also very loud. Spent a fortune since and not convinced my sound is much better
3. Sounds great! Currently looking for a new jazz bass so will have to add this to the list
4. Thats exactly the point I was trying to make in my OP. How many times do we change something to improve our tone when it was something else that needed to change. I posted a while ago on here about how often people use the tone dial on their bass, and like me, I was surprised how many people just leave it on full whilst messing with their amp settings.
5. Having young daughters X factor is on in our house all the time and I ignore it. However I have just watched Kevin Davy White do a great version of Voodoo Chile and he played guitar too complete with wah wah. He just been voted into final and as much as I detest everything Simon Cowell, respect to this man for getting through. Maybe we should all vote for him ??
6. Yes I agree that most people don't notice your bass sound but I just wonder where on earth you start, if you want to alter your tone as there are so many aspects that can affect it.
7. I've always thought my current set up lacked bottom end and have been looking at changing my amp/cabs. I recently bought a thunderbird from here and tried it out at last night's gig. Sound was fantastic with tonnes of bottom end keeping the same EQ settings I normally use on my MIM Jazz. Happy now to keep my current set up. It made me wonder how on earth you know where to start when trying to improve your sound when there are so many factors that can determine your sound. Off the top of my head you have, pick/fingers, type of strings, bass, bass EQ settings, amp, amp settings, speaker size, speaker configuration, effects, effects order, effects direct or fx chain, room size, number of people in room.....and that's before you think about type of cables and how hard you play. It really is a minefield.
8. Sold Mike my soul food. Good comms and quick payment. Hope you like it
9. Bought from Thomann 6 months ago for £45 to try out as a wired in ear monitor but changed my mind so never been used. Can use power pack supplied or battery As new condition £25 posted anywhere in UK only. No trades

11. Just bought Chris's Tbird and very happy with it. Great guy to deal with and good comms.
12. I do all our posters on my android phone using a free app called pic collage. It's pretty basic put you can import photos and add text to it. On our facebook page you will see all our posters which have all been done in pic collage. Not to everyone's taste but we like it and it's dead easy https://www.facebook.com/inspirationdriveuk/
13. Anybody have any updates on the new vintage thunderbird? Really want the ebony version but it seems these are even rarer than the tobacco and white versions which are due in December.
14. Great work guys. Is it me or is the font smaller of each post on the mobile app. I seem to be struggling to read the text a bit now but can't remember if it was this small before?
15.
Did you get sorted? I have a spare bracket which may fit - yours for postage if it fits? Can you measure the gap? Thx Andy
Yes all sorted but thanks for the very kind offer
16. Does it really matter how long it takes as long you've set up in time? Most of our gigs are a 9pm start and we always get there at 7pm and share out the duties at a steady pace. We chat and have a beer while setting up and have it all done for 830 when punters start drifting in.
17. Loopz is pretty good. Very simple and basic but good to play along to
18.
I wouldn't recommend Vistaprint - unless they have changed their ways since I last used them - simply because their (exorbitant) delivery costs are hidden until the last moment before you press BUY, and usually cancel any savings you may have over other companies.
I think as long as you are aware of this then you can remove the delivery cost. I've had fliers, business cards and a banner done at vistaprint and have been happy with price and quality. Like you say though they do try and rip you off with delivery charge. I just amend the delivery at the end from standard to economy and they still deliver in a couple of days
19. Thanks for the advice so far. I think I will set it up tonight and try it with one of my jack leads. The problem I suppose with a right angle XLR is there are knobs either side of the input so at least a jack can be swivelled around.
20. I always use XLR leads for mics in our band and although if I'm honest I don't fully understand why they are better other than the noise reduction issues they work better as I can use same leads for mics and active speaker leads. In another project i am doing i have a radio mic receiver and a media player with Mic input housed together in a 2U flight case. I want it all to be pre-wired but the problem is when I put the covers back on the front of the flight case the Mic lead sticks out quite a bit when plugged into the media player and is rubbing on the inside of the cover. Both the radio mic and media player can accept jack leads and i have a few L shaped Jack leads which would be ideal but I've never used jack leads for mics. am I likely to see a loss in quality or volume? As they are in same case the lead only needs to be a few inches long and the Mic is only being used for talking not singing. Not sure if you can get L shaped XLR leads. Thanks in advance
21. Tried to use mine for the second time at a gig last night and it didn't work!! May be the battery but didn't have time to check last night
