  1. Am I right in thinking, ibanez have stopped using these in their latest line of premium basses as it does not mention them in the on-line blurb...if this is so, a step backwards in my opinion
  2. Yes, gloss finish....I think most were a flat open grain finish
  3. some interesting trade offers but in all honesty needing a slight cull.....go on, treat yourself....as said earlier, a lot of german bass for the money!!
  4. Without doubt, the Peavey is the way to go, I had the TNT 130 combo with black widow speaker....sounded great and had a well thought out preamp with the parametric miss.
  5. PM's replied to....bump for a lovely bass!
  6. Recently sold my Lakland 55-02 to Andy and i have to say, it was an absolute pleasure, first class comms and a very easy transaction....he is also a top bloke deal with confidence!! Cheers Andy.
  7. Could try the Howard the bass doc.
  8. Cheers for the kind words folks!.......i'm sure i am not being greedy, this bass was £1250 when new"ouch"....anyways, bump for lovely playing and sounding bass.
  9. Are the mec pickups passive?....if so, you could always try an aguilar obp1.....simple boost only bass and treble....the circuit could be used with active pickups but you may need to change the value of the volume pot!
  10. Sorry, forgot to mention, based in Durham area
  11. £400..... Up for sale is my German made Warwick corvette fna.....this model was only made for two years i believe and was originally called the "altus" bass but Warwick had to change the name, for what reason, i don't know !!....Anyway, i suppose it was Warwick's version of the stingray, although it doesn't sound exactly like one, it has elements of, but has a more low mid push and kicks like a mule! The abalone dot inlays were installed by northeast luthier Alan Brason and to me take the bareness off the neck.....the bass was factory fitted with the Seymour Duncan tone circuit which includes the slap contour (pull up on volume pot)......the standard mec pickup has been upgraded to the Seymour Duncan smd 4d........the bass is in good condition but does have a few chips and dents here and there.....bass has a great action and plays really well....Oh, the neck is the preferred three piece wenge neck and finger board.....Have case and happy to ship, uk onlyl.....did my best with the pics, but light not too good. Could be interested in trades....
  12. Very nice, love the reverse head stock and three piece neck

    5 or 6?

You could just jump in the deep end and get a six string, but if i were in your position i would use a five string B-G .... should do all you need! In the case of the arrangements in the keys of D and Eb, coming up an octave can sometimes loose some impact in the music...well, that my opinion !
  14. Well, cut my tongue out ...but i too had a wal bass, a series two 5 string no less....was as heavy as a chippendale chair and although it had a lot of sounds, only a few were usable, i could never really get on with the filter preamp ..... anyway, bought it new for £1400 and sold it for £800 beat me now !!!
  15. without doubt, the peavey, to me sounded best, i also liked the Le Fay
  16. Ahh, if money was no object.......stunning
  17. great bass ..... not just for the money!.....good solid hardware, active eq , three piece neck for stability and a fancy top......oh, and wider string spacing than the regular sr range.
  18. I would stick with the amp and cab route, if your current amp is fairly light weight, just get the super compact.
  19. In the running for a new guitar strap, be it cotton webbing or leather.....all my basses weigh between 9-10 lbs so i think 3 inch minimum as i need the support for my neck.
  20. I had the blx 130, great little amp, and louder than the 130 watts would suggest.....the cab section on the other hand i found pretty dire....decent bottom end for it's size but it was heavy!!.......anyway, it ended up in a skip.
  21. Cool bass, and sporting the preferred wenge neck and fingerboard, out of interest, what weight is it ?
  22. john east uni-pre would be nice.....video on youtube of the five string version of this bass, guy has bartolini B-axis pickups i think.....sounds great!!
  23. Tried one of the small combos and have to say... very good!!... nice eq
