  1. Doesn’t the Stingray boost more than it cuts though? Although I’ve heard the actual frequencies have changed a lot over the years.

    First Bass

It's just a knot in the wood used for the fretboard - it shouldn't cause any concern from a functional perspective. I suppose you could call it bad QC and it should have been rejected but I wouldn't worry - it makes your bass unique! Enjoy it and get stuck in.
  3. She’s awesome.
  4. Although I’m very much decided on my ‘main bass’, I’ve had fun searching for the perfect J, P and MM to have in my collection. I recently bought a MM which will arrive on Wednesday. I’ve had two before and sold them for stupid reasons so I’m hoping this one is a keeper. I do really love the sound of them, instantly recognisable and very versatile.
  5. Hm. The wanted bump button is an add on and I guess it hasn’t been configured 100% correctly. Might make sense if everyone can bump in that forum so I’ll have a look...
  6. Can I have your order number please?
  7. Where would one get pre EB shaped ones?
  8. Typical!!
  9. I should add that if you don't fit the pickup very well (too far from strings, not within the prescribed range of bridge, set it up poorly in the unit for sensitivity) then it just won't track very well or be a bit noisy. But it's not hard to place it correctly. The internal installation works best - no blob on the bass and you can be as minimal as you like (just pick and output) or choose to add an assignable knob, two buttons, an LED and switch. Both of mine have the knob and buttons.
  10. I've never heard that except if you use it for pitch to MIDI. The whole point in the GK system is that the pickup works like a normal pickup and processes each string in real time with zero (or as close to) latency, as nothing is being converted. I am super sensitive to ANY latency (I sold all my wireless transmitters, iRigs and so forth because of it)! The VB99 has none at all. Think of it as an amazing effects processor, and if you use a 13 pin import those effects can be assigned to individual strings, you can move pickups around, model different string types, octave strings individually - literally after 10 years I'm still dreaming up new things to try. But at it's core, it's a superb sounding pre-amp/interface with the best compressors/limiters and most flexible and subtle adjustments possible. *hugs for my Roland*
  11. I will add it to the FAQ maybe - I was hoping that it would tell you the limits when you edit your signature but apparently not!
  12. Either is fine - the input processing options are so vast you can make any bass sound fantastic. I tend to save a clean preset for each bass and have those lined up along my five main presets, each has it's own finely tuned compression and so forth. Whilst you should definitely have a 13 pin job to maximise the fun, I tend to use mine line a big clean preamp more than half the time, with a 1/4" input. I won't be replacing my VB99 with one though.
  13. Hi, the new limits are: 1 image (468x60 max size) 2 links 3 lines of text
  14. Sorry to hear this didn't work out as planned. I'll see what Eurosender have to say in response.
  15. Trade offers by PM only please folks
  16. Not first hand experience and I believe the user in question has since spent more time with the unit and improved his setup but yes you're right the units do pitch to MIDI output, more of an aside to what they can do via COSM and individual string processing instantly.
  17. That's more of an extra on these units as there's so much you can do with the built in sounds via GK.
  18. Apparently the computer editor for this is a little slow? But the interface on the unit is intuitive and easy to navigate (like the VB99 which has a computer interface that's excellent, I never use it). I have been asking on the Guitar forums a bit more about this, specifically what it offers over the VB99 and it seems, especially given the pedal form factor, that the VB99 is more than adequate for my needs. Quoting user Fokof on Guitar forums https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=28119.0 So the only thing I'd like still is an FX loop but I have now cracked that with some help of a handy pedal maker who has built me a 13 pin breakout box with 1/4" loop.
  19. Yes agreed, excellent basses, these.
  20. Sorry, just seen this. Weird, I don't get search suggestions on iOS. There's an upgrade due for the software so maybe this is on the list of fixes... if not I'll flag it. Cheers
  21. Looks very nice indeed! I expect a full review when it arrives.
  22. Beautiful! I feel like I can play it through my screen it looks so 'tactile'. Would love to hear it!
  23. Great playing - and her sound really shows how a 70s jazz sounds great with super low rattly setup. Nice.
  24. I just realised this spare laptop stand holds my bass really well! Because it’s headless and the bridge design it stands very securely. The laptop is in a different stand although you can buy double slot ones
  25. Hi, no worries. Yes it has bass mode and you can do all sorts with it! You can download the manual to have a proper look. I think the Godin uses a piezo saddle system as opposed to the magnetic GK3B - I don’t think there’s a difference really but I’ve never tried a Godin. A really good forum to check out for GK stuff is the Vguitar Forum. Cheers ped
