Like you say get them dispatched by Amazon. I don’t think fakes are too much of a problem it was mostly fake elixirs which were easy to spot. If in doubt you can post a picture of the pack here and Amazon have a good returns policy.

Ok they just arrived and I’ve had a very quick play straight out of the box. They definitely sound a little scooped but not outrageously so, as EBS said I can EQ that out to a degree. However the main use of these will be from my Backbeat rumble pack where I’ll appreciate some sparkle on the otherwise raw signal. When I’m using an amp anyway they help protect my ears plus give me a clear bass signal at a low volume so they should work nicely. Im having a jam with my brother at Xmas so I’ll get to try them properly and report back. Did you burn yours in at all, the instructions are in Chinglish and as a result I can’t tell if they’re saying to do it for five mins or something else! Cheers

Maple neck and headstock is the way to go. Blocks are nice in a 70s jazz but wouldn’t suit an SB1. IMO!

Yeah not bad places to sell if you’re a trustworthy basschatter - but be extra careful when buying from someone who might not be! @LukeFRC yes drastically - we didnt have a huge problem before but we did have one or two that I can remember. And since FB marketplace/groups took off its actually been good for us because it motivates people to sell, and once you’ve decided to try a free platform I think people are more likely to go the paid route too. It means more gear floating around and that’s all good as far as I’m concerned. BC is more concerned about the quality of our marketplace than quantity of adverts.

I’ve heard of that wood before, paulowena or something, very fast growing but really stable. Interesting. My SB1 is about 8.5lbs I think. Not sure what the wood is.

Thing is that because it’s free to list there’s often very little effort or commitment from the sellers. There’s a whole host of problems from people not marking things sold and being difficult to speak to (when they can string a sentence together) to full on scammers. Obviously some people are great, but there’s no filter. A bit like Gumtree. OK if you’re careful but not every bass player is a team player like we get used to on BC.

Facebook Marketplace. Complete free for all - some great folks but millions of complete wasters. “pay peanuts, get monkeys” Since introducing a fee to sell here I can count the number of problem sellers on one hand. Only use PayPal, NEVER gift, unless you’re giving an actual gift.
