1.
Late '60s / early '70s UK 'art-rock' band Audience. I've got two of their albums - House On The Hill and Lunch - that I still love playing. They really were quite unique. Enjoy - hope the links work! https://www.youtube....h?v=HClO5CK3MPU https://www.youtube....h?v=J4xnPKf4I-8
I bought the 7" of Belandonna Moonshine after being captivated by it listening to Fab Radio 208 Luxemburg while night fishing (until shutdown of course)!
2. My first proper "bass" a late 80's MIJ Precision, black with maple board. I'd had it nearly 20 years until I saw an ad on these pages wanting one. I'd just been ousted from the band I was in at the time, so in a fit of pique I let it go. I believe it was subsequently sold on to another BC member, so hopefully it's still in the family.
3. Funnily enough, after years of searching for "the one" I am starting to realise that I had it and sold it. I currently have machines of almost every description, headless, 4's, 5's, spikey shaped Deans, fretless this and that, but the one that is nearest perfection IMO is a Dean Edge that I bought off eBay for £36.00. Not a P I know, but passive and uncomplicated. I think it may well be time to close the loop and return to the Fender Precision that I started with.
4.
Joe Walsh? Cheese? :-0 For me, I've got a real soft spot for 70s LA cheese. Afternoon Delight, Let Your Love Flow, that kind of thing. Fab.
+1 And Starbuck, Moonlight feels right, or something like that.
5. Toss up between Black Night, the single I bought with my first weeks wages, and the live Lazy.
6. He's an absolute hero. As for Chas, I think I heard somewhere along the line that he had the first Fender electric bass in London.
7.
Henry the horse will be dancing the waltz
Of course!
8.
Are the Hendersons coming?
They'll all be there
9. A little plug if I may for Al at Pickupmagnet. I need a new bridge for my Ibby SR305 and he came up on google as a supplier for spares. He hasn't actually managed to source one, needs to come from Japan, but has taken considerable time and trouble to identify what I need and advise me. Also, his emails have made me laugh. Thanks Al.
10. Everything appears to be confirmed and it's booked with UPS for delivery to me tomorrow. Fingies crossed.
11. I'm not going to be slagging them off if they didn't honour it. My stupid fault for questioning the price, should have just bought it and kept quiet. Says the order request has been received (at 629.00!). Says to check after 6 when the orders have been received by the carriers to track the order. Not seen anything yet that says "tough luck sucker!" Hopeful! Edit: Ive had confirmation of the order from DV247 at the agreed price!!! I wonder of I'll get a BTB 675??
12. Finance has cleared, deposit has been paid. Now we wait....
13. Thanks chaps. Ive applied for the credit, supplied bank statements etc, and have spoken to the credit company. I would imagine that by the time it goes through I'll be out of luck. I'll keep you posted.
14. I spotted and Ibanez BTB 1605 for sale on DV247's website yesterday. It was up for £629 and I went to bed last night thinking that I might make enquiries in the morning. In the cold light of dawn I realised that this is in fact a stonking price, so I foolishly phoned to ask if the bass was in stock and if so was there anything wrong with it. I was told by a staff member that the price hadn't been updated, and the best they could do would be £875.00 So, while the web page was open showing the price as being £629.00 I added it to my basket and applied for credit. And now I'm waiting....... Price on their website is now £1059.00! I guess I can't insist that they sell it to me for the price they advertised it for.
15. I listen to R2, and a month or so ago I kept hearing a song I liked, but couldn't quite catch who they said it was by, sounded like they were saying Shakin' (no G) Stevens. Can't be................
16. You get nothing for a pair, not in this game! Seriously, very nice.
17. Yes, another legend gone. 2017 please be kinder. R.I.P.
18. Sorry, but I don't like it. It's all been done so many times before and Rock N Roll should (IMO) be rough and edgy not smooth and finely honed. Almost as feeble as Michael (Hey, I'm the new Bobby Darrin) Bubble. Music for money's sake. Sorry, rant over, back in me box!.
19. Thanks for the info Mr Meddle. The one I looked at appeared to be active as it had what looked like a battery compartment on the reverse across the middle, I remember that it had Ibanez branded pickups and three controls. I couldn't see a S/N anywhere on it. I have a couple of Hohner B2a's, a fretted and fretless which I love dearly, but what drew me to the Axstar is the fact it had a top horn, which must be an advantage over the Hohner in giving a more conventional playing position. The zero fret on the Hohner seems a mile away until you get used to it. Also, whilst I didn't have the opportunity to test them side by side for weight, it seemed to me that the Ibanez was noticeably lighter.
