    Hi all, I bought this a few months back from BCer and Shergold aficionado @ash to scratch my Factory records itch. Unfortunately I simply cannot get on with the neck, as all my other basses are short scale. Ash had it refinned in black nitro due to the usual knackered Shergold paint issue. Underneath the bridge cover it has acquired some scratches and gouges from the ball ends of strings from changing strings (see pic). These cannot be seen with the cover in place. Generally vgc and weight is a lovely manageable 3 6kg/7.8 pounds. Comes with a generic hard case and No gigbag but will be securely wrapped in bubble erm wrap and boxed if post required. Otherwise collection from SW London (Barnes). £600 plus post. Sorry no trades.

    Over the years I have played in several bands with Grammy-nominated Scottish singer/songwriter/arranger Wily Bo Walker. He mixes up the genres but there is a blues theme at the heart of most. Here is a smoky blues song that will be released as a single early in 2021, featuring some great musicians (incl. New York based Danny Flam on brass; Troy Redfern on lead guitar) and me on bass.     For sure I don't like all of the visuals and they are a bit literal! But I did enjoy the Fly as it hit the windshield and the panoply of musical imagery in It - also helps that the latter is a fantastic album closer!

    An illustrator chappy has put a comic book video to the entire album, with lyrics. Some really good visuals, eg on Fly on a Windshield and It. Worth a gander if, like me, you love the album

    Won't go into ancient history of why's and wherefore's, suffice it to say Nige is well and active on FaceBook and still playing music (though guitar more than bass these days)

    Also, seeing this thread ... just a few posts above is one from Pete Academy, a very accomplished bassist who played tasteful slap in top tribute band Stealing Dan (correction: Nearly Dan, thanks bubinga5) who I had the pleasure of seeing live and meeting with former BCer Nigel (aka silddx/xibblx) and is tragically no longer with us. Reminder to me of how things change in a decade. RIP Pete

    I don't think there is a general hate. The context of my original post was entirely reactive in that I had just returned from the London Bass Guitar Show which was rendered into a wall of Motorhead-level slappity clack by a legion of wannabe Mark Kings. Was impossible to hear yourself think or try gear in a more musical way. Changes were made at later LBGS to counter this Basically its a Zombie thread, as noted above by Rich!

    My Mustang is wearing the La Bella 760FL-MUS set while my Serek has the Dr Hi Beam stainless steel short scale (which come as the standard rounds on Sereks). Both are great IMHO. The La Bellas have old school thump and a beefy low end, while the Sereks have more snap and ring. Horses for courses,

    For me its the left hand comfort and the weight advantages that make the difference. I have a Mustang and a Serek, both 30" scales and super easy to play. I also have a beat up Alembic Spoiler with a medium scale (32") which is not especially light but is also fun. Less fun is a Shergold Marathon I recently bought in a wave of 70's/80s Factory records nostalgia (I am a big fan of A Certain Ratio) with a chunky neck and 34" scale. I intend to keep it as they are very hard to get hold of and one day I just might want to play in a band that it fits in, but I simply do not pick it up over my short/medium scales.

    Actually Kev Hopper's bass was another CB I owned! That one was fretted, holly topped and maple necked. Glad you are loving the fretless!

    These are fab amps and the advantage here is you don't run the risk of exchange rate swings and having to wait for it to be made to order and then delivered from Poland. Someone should make a reasonable offer here, but not in a Godfather style obviously!

    Parallels is a belter, great bass line and massive (Swiss church) organ (oo err missus)

    It was filmed in the Olympic Studios in Barnes SW13 - now the Olympic Cinema (albeit with a small live music lounge upstairs) and they show this clip before the start of every film
