Going by my board with only 2 MFs & 2 boss sized stomps & the EP2 on it, I'm gonna guess it weighs more than everything else in your rig put together (amp, cabs, bass etc)? A sack trolley would be next on my list!

I got a Godlyke Powerall (1.7A & has a few different connector adaptors & a daisy chain with 2 polarity reversers). I run the Murf, CE2 & Distortion from it but had to put the 101 on it's own supply as it was getting a buzz. I tried shielding the sides with copper which reduced it a bit but said "sack it" in the end.

I'd try both & see what you like as it's gonna be down to personal taste. I love the sound of the MB cabs but I haven't tried TC before.

My MB combo is of kickback design. I've only used it once as a monitor in this position tho as I normally have it standing vertically.

Oops answered. Yes to your 2nd Q. Although it will only draw about 60% of the power that the 2 them was.

Yes & No. If you wire two 16 ohm speakers in parallel, you'll get 8 ohm. If you wire two 4 ohm speakers in series, you'll still get 8 ohm.

I had a wee spy at these too. Look like a decent alternative to the Ashdown MAG range.

In most instances I learn someone else's songs either by ear, by watching what chords one of the other band member's are playing (that's if they know the song) or have a quick google if I struggle with any of it & find either the tab or score (preferably score as it's often more accurate than tab). The majority of (cover) songs I know have been learned as a kid from music books (whatever happened to them ), but I hardly find the need to read music all that often in my current bands (but can come in handy) as we put our own take on anything we cover.

Give your rig a test run. set it to a bassy tone & whap it up (in increments of course) & see if the speakers break up. Personally, I don't see why your rig wouldn't handle it but I've only ever used one trace rig & it was a 4x10 combo & I don't think it would have handled it. My 2x10 shifts a lot more air & handles a lot more bass than it did. On second thoughts, you might wanna start looking for a new rig.

I've not read all this post (there's a surprise G, just jump in with your daft ideas), but Groove vs Theory? Really??? I would have thought every bassist would want both? I know I do. Wanting groove but not theory is a bit like being able to speak English, but not being interested in learning how to read or write it or even what the words mean. Vice versa, wanting to learn theory but not groove is like being able to write words but not managing to make a decent sentence (I think I actually fall under this category when it comes to speaking . ). What's next, strings vs leads?

But X with 2 8 ohm cabs is usually considerably louder than X with 1 of the same cabs that's 4 ohm.

But the downside to standard 4x10s & 8x10s is that the drivers are on the horizontal plane next to each other & frequencies could cancel each other out, causing a narrower dispertion.

I've never has this problem. I normally just plug straight into the line in on the mac & turn feedback protection off & use my ears & eyes to balance the input.

TC cabs appear to be rather skinny & yet designed to stand on their end where as MarkBass cabs are almost square (there's only @ 4" difference between W, D & H). Some extra heavy duty velcro would see no movement in your cabs & amp on top & you could velcro to a Gramma Pad.

Oops, I'v read the rest of the posts & see BRX & Dan have already said what I was suggesting but in more detail! Getting gear to sync isn't hard, getting people to is the tricky bit.

I had a Zoom 708 & you could have upto 6 characters. Not the best multi FX unit tho.

I'd look to getting something like a LMII (they're now between £300-£350 s/h) & go for a couple of cheapish 2X10s (such as Ashdown MAGs) or build your own cabs.

I haven't had time to read all the 1st page, so don't know if this was suggested. Another idea to look at would be to have a cheap drum machine (or laptop) as a tempo controller that sends a click to the drummer's headphones & midi to the synths to keep all in sync & give control of the tempo controller to either the drummer or the keysman. Just another option to ponder.

Sweet. A bassist similar to myself. I don't want my bass to sound like a bass guitar either & used to play basslines on a synth, but enjoy playing strings more than hitting keys & twiddling wheels (tho that still can be fun). Looking forward to your other parts (inc the FX one).
