1. Godlyke Powerall. Has a 5 point daisychain with yellow caps to go over the unused.
2. Like above, playing with other musicians is the best thing you can do. Spend time learning each note by ear & singing them in your head so when you're listening to something, you know what notes are being played & what scale it is in. This will really only come with time & practice (obviously). Walking basslines tend to be using the scale of the song & following the chords (in it's simplest form). 12 bar blues is a good place to get your basics for this. Experience will come in time & before you know it, you'll be giving most of us advice (hopefully). Anyway, you're headed in the right direction, keep it up!
3. If you can stretch to £600 (sell your Xmas pressies on boxing day maybe?) then a s/h Markbass CMD 102p would do you proud. there's one in the for sale here. I play in a rock band, an alt dot band and starting a DnB experiment & I have no trouble drowning out noisy guitarists, moving things off shelves etc.
4. If you're looking to always have distortion on then for wah, you can't go wrong with a Moog mf-101 & exp pedal & turn the drive up.
5. Do you not have a Jupiter for sale as well? I can only dream of 1 Ritter & you have 2 for sale!!! Best of luck with the sale.
6. I got lucky, bought my SR1000 20 years ago & I've never wanted anything else until I visited the Ritter website a couple of years ago.
7. BRILLIANT! Some people would give an arm & a leg to be that good.
8. I did a wee video a few months back re: slapping on flats. I use TI flats on my fretted Ibby. Here's the (embarrassing) video... The bass was plugged into a Vox Venue 30Bass combo & recorded thru the iMac's built in mic.
9. I'm still picturing you trying to reach upto the head sitting atop the 2 vertically stacked 8x10s.
10. Go & listen to some Bootsy Collins on Youtube, is that the kind of funky sound you're after? If so, you want a good amount of mid boost, a reverb, a delay & some kind of envelope filter such as a wah.
11. For looks alone, I would choose Josh Dunham's Ritter Cora.
12. I've never seen a battery eating a bass before! (sorry, I couldn't resist responding to the title). Could it be a case of the jack socket being wired incorrectly or a loose strand of wire causing a short somewhere else in the compartment? Like is said, get a lend of a multimeter & go testing. Hope you find it soon.
13. Get a LMII (or LMIII), they're only slightly dearer & worth the extra. You can upgrade your Mag 210 at a later date if needs be.
14. I've found a few times that I've typed teh by accident when spellcheck isn't on auto. I think it's something to do with the way my fingers go if I'm typing fast (when I say fast, I mean fast for me).
15. I'd listen to some Glam & get a feel for it & just jam along & maybe learn the chord sequence to a couple of songs to jam to. Whenever I've went for a jam it has been a case of working ideas around a riff or chord sequence & having fun. A couple of cracking songs have been born from jamming. Rememember, it's about having fun
16. Markbass do a 2x Bass cass like you're after. Not cheap tho.
17. You do still get 18" cabs but they're usually reserved for PA systems. Perfectly good to use on a bass rig.
18. Yup, I got an email from them this morning about this. I'd have applied for it if I was in the market, but I have my ideal rig for the moment.
19. I think I'm an average bassist (just). But it's nice when other band members say it's good to have a brilliant bassist (or something along those lines) & I've had this in a few bands. I've come up with some basslines that I love playing too. Some of which really push my ability as a bassist & sometimes live we play faster than normal & can really be a workout for me (funny enough, I was considering making a post bout a couple of these).
20. Cheers all. I tried what Silddx suggested by putting a capo on the 1st fret & fretting at the 12th (& also the 24th to check further up the board), I loosened my trussrod a 1/4 turn & retuned my bass & it has helped quite a bit. There's still a slight amount there but I'll try another 1/4 turn tomorrow (I recall reading something like "you shouldn't do more than a 1/4 turn per 24 hours" or similar) & then I'll set the intonation if needs be.
21. Can anyone give me some pointers here? When I play a fretted note on my bass (any note, any fret), as I release the note the string buzzes on the frets. doesn't matter how quick I lift my finger off, it still does it! Do I need to adjust the truss rod? I've raised & lowered the string height & it makes no difference. The bass in question is my Ibby strung with TI flats. Any advice would be great. G
22.
[sfx] S&M?
That's a handy wee pedal. What a brilliant idea!
23. Have you tried your FX loop? On the LMII there is a jumper inside that allows you to have the FX loop series or parallel, does the DB 750 have something similar?
24. For me, being a backing bassist for other artists wouldn't be the best bass job. It has to be something where you can have some input & not just copy what someone else has done for a song. Billy Sheehan might be one of those with the best job. Playing your style in covers & original songs & teaching others at clinics sounds like good fun to me. Money doesn't make it the best job, enjoyment does (money helps tho ).
25. Yup, seen the blue box with the white "?" in it many times. Linked pic is cute
