Markbass do a 2x Bass cass like you're after. Not cheap tho.

You do still get 18" cabs but they're usually reserved for PA systems. Perfectly good to use on a bass rig.

Yup, I got an email from them this morning about this. I'd have applied for it if I was in the market, but I have my ideal rig for the moment.

I think I'm an average bassist (just). But it's nice when other band members say it's good to have a brilliant bassist (or something along those lines) & I've had this in a few bands. I've come up with some basslines that I love playing too. Some of which really push my ability as a bassist & sometimes live we play faster than normal & can really be a workout for me (funny enough, I was considering making a post bout a couple of these).

I tried what Silddx suggested by putting a capo on the 1st fret & fretting at the 12th (& also the 24th to check further up the board), I loosened my trussrod a 1/4 turn & retuned my bass & it has helped quite a bit. There's still a slight amount there but I'll try another 1/4 turn tomorrow (I recall reading something like "you shouldn't do more than a 1/4 turn per 24 hours" or similar) & then I'll set the intonation if needs be.

Can anyone give me some pointers here? When I play a fretted note on my bass (any note, any fret), as I release the note the string buzzes on the frets. doesn't matter how quick I lift my finger off, it still does it! Do I need to adjust the truss rod? I've raised & lowered the string height & it makes no difference. The bass in question is my Ibby strung with TI flats. Any advice would be great. G

Have you tried your FX loop? On the LMII there is a jumper inside that allows you to have the FX loop series or parallel, does the DB 750 have something similar?

For me, being a backing bassist for other artists wouldn't be the best bass job. It has to be something where you can have some input & not just copy what someone else has done for a song. Billy Sheehan might be one of those with the best job. Playing your style in covers & original songs & teaching others at clinics sounds like good fun to me. Money doesn't make it the best job, enjoyment does (money helps tho ).

The Cult - Electric. Easy songs to learn by lug & are either root based or riff based. U2 - any of their first 3 albums. Good solid simple bass & will get you picking out notes.

I get where you're coming from. Slap can be done without having open E as the root, be in time and without a million notes randomly fired into a bar. I do some slap on a couple of originals & both are in G, tho I have been guilty for doing pretty much what your rant is about! Only at home tho.

Ok, bit of software for the phone only (I believe one calls it an 'App). Guitar Toolkit is one piece of software I use on an almost daily basis. You select your instrument, whether that be 6, 7 or 12 string guitar, 4, 5 or 6 string bass, banjo, mandolin or ukulele. Then chose what tuning you want it to be in (Standard EADG, drop D, tenor ADGC & so on). Choose a reference pitch (eg, A: 440 hz) & then right or left handed. Then there's a tuner, a fretboard (which allows you to view & play any scales you want), a metronome with various time signatures and a chord chart (you choose any chord you want & it'll show you all the variations of it). Don't let the guitar bit put you off, bass is very well accommodated for. I have it on my iPhone, not sure if the make it for any other phones.

I use a Dunlop one. Works fine on my six stringer semi, but my friends 12 doesn't always like it.

I don't know any basses with a neck as thin as my TV remote, let alone a pencil All kidding aside, good analogy & advice there. Quick edit just to say I tried your theory with my mobile phone & a camera lens. Holding the phone in a fretting position put's my thumb naturally towards my index finger, holding the lens my thumb went towards my ring finger.

I actually get the exact same thing as yourself. Both thumb joints ache as does my wrist. I tried changing my playing position & how I hold the bass & this helped significantly, but I still get it (been for a few years now). I think the thin neck is a contributing factor. Anyone know where I can get a deeper neck for an ibby.

New bass for Xmas? Ibanez get a good bright tone as well as a good dubby tone & you can spend what you want on one. I can only suggest Ibby as I've never owned anything else, so best to try a few in Guitar Guitar. My idea of a funk sound is very different from yours & requires flatwound strings & a filter (such as a wah). Very little brightness for me. If you're playing thru your PC, try using a VST wah or filter on it.

I've always said the same as Gafbass02. But it's harder to make a bass sound good as a solo instrument than it is with a guitar. Anyone who can sing can learn 3-4 chords & a simple strumming pattern & it'll sound decent to most non musos. Give them a bass however, & it'll take them a lot longer to learn something that sounds good with just vocals. It's also a lot easier to do runs in semiquavers or 2 handed tapping on a guitar than it is a bass. So the only thing easy about a bass is learning to plod simple roots etc.

Thought about a multi fx pedal? Most have an eq as one of the effects, thus giving you the option to program several different eq settings.

Basically as above. If you've got a decent rig, you shouldn't need an eq pedal unless you're wanting to quickly change mid song for something like going from fingering to slapping (sounds like a date gone wrong!). My band have one song that I do this in & use my Murf as an EQ for this (it's a very useful pedal, if pricey).

Another Safari user here so the top 12 are shown. Basschat, Flickr & YouTube are always on there & the other 9 are things that the Mrs has been looking at (such as cakes). On my phone I have a shortcut on the 1st homescreen to BC & also the 1st open page of Safari is BC too.

I've only ever had 4s but my next is gonna be either a 5 or 6 as I could do with the extra strings because I'm regularly up the dusty end filling out spaces when the guitar is soloing (I don't do noodling, that's for guitarists ). It would be better to be able to get the lower notes & higher notes together rather than having to compromise on the sound I'm after.

For some strange reason I was thinking if they was wired Parallel in pairs (to make 8 ohm) and then put into series that the cab would still be 8 ohm.
