[/quote] You want a mono (TS) 1/4 jack wired to just 1 side of a stereo (TRS) 1/8 jack (they're usually called 3.5mm jacks). Popping a mono jack into your computer might (though it might not) do some damage & popping a stereo 1/4 jack into your fx send or bass might not send anything if the sleeve gets no contact. You might need to make the cable up yourself. Mind & don't plug into a speaker out!

PC or Mac? I did mine in GarageBand on the Mac & for the bass, I took a mono 1/4 jack that's wired to one channel of a stereo 1/8 jack, plugged the 1/4 end into the fx send & the other end into the line in on the Mac. No reason why you couldn't do the same on a PC with Reaper.

I just bang the strings & hope some good notes come out when I hold a Bb m11.

+1 There's been a couple of MarkBass combos recently for just under £500, which in my eyes, is a bargain!

I've no experience with either, but depending on the venue, the band & what the Ampeg's sensitivity is like, you might get a surprise at what gig's a small amp can do (as long as you don't need masses of low end). Though I'm with Lozz, I'd be looking at the other options before buying anything. What's your budget (I'm guessing £400, abased on the Ampeg)?

Are you set on a Fender? There's a whole wealth of awesome basses available if not.

I used to use a Vox Venue 30 Bass combo. A nice smallish 1x12. Ironically, it weighs more than my Markbass 2x10 combo, despite being about 1/3 of the size! Why not just get a small 1x10 (1x12) cab to plug the GB into & leave that at home?

I may be wrong... But that'd be my explanation [/quote] You might be right, but it's when I open the envelope follower. If the chorus is on quite strong, it affects the Wah effect. I'll record it sometime & you can see what you think. I've also had the Murf do unusual stuff with the envelope on it when I had things routed differently.

The Berhinger di pedal is supposed to be really good (almost as good as a sansamp).

Finally got time to actually read that whole interview with Jarman. Quality stuff. Hope they get over here some time soon.

On a side note, I've noticed that some effects can respond to what's after them as well as what's before them (Moogers being prime examples). I've noticed that depending what pedals I have turned on, the chorus that's after the LPF can affect the envelope amount. Weird!

From the sounds of it, what you need is a Low Pass Filter with a pedal. I use a Moog MF101 with a pedal (pedal is about £30). The Source Audio BEF with a hotHand might be of interest to you?

They're really rather good. Those 1st couple of tracks sound very 80s in a good way. A little like Thomas Dolby perhaps.

Maybe a good laptop with some good software & VST fx connected to a midi/usb foot controller? Would probably be dearer than most fx boards when you include the cost of a reliable solid lappy, the daw & VSTis, the interface & the controller, but latency shouldn't be an issue with today's technology & you could make patches, link it to the band for syncing & even make fully evolving soundscapes. But, would it sound as good as stompboxes???

I'm in full agreement. I've no idea why none of the multi fx companies don't allow for splitting & summing within the box & the addition of a couple of patchable loops would be a brilliant idea. Maybe worth contacting someone from Zoom or Line 6 (Source Audio are a digital fx co who'd listen, but they don't make multi fx).

Why not use the best of both? The things that multi's do best are usually chained. Look at it as a box that contains 3-4 pedals.

I like that. Maybe needs a bit better EQing/panning on the sounds, but it has a sad Autumn feel about it. It sounds like part of a film score. Infact, come to think of it, so do the other entries! Well if there's any film makers on here, there's a film to be made with the entries.

What about "Funder"? Putting some fun & thunder into the low end.
