That's subjective to technique. I play a mix of styles & the only time I rest my hand on the bridge is for palm muting. See when you play the E string, where does your hand sit? I'm taking it doesn't sit on the bridge? It doesn't need to sit on the bridge for any of the other strings. Yes it may take a little practice & some getting used to, but there's more advantages to be had (such as less blood on the bass ).
-
You could try moving your right hand closer to the neck, thus removing your hand from the bridge?

Dirt is any kind of fuzz, distortion or overdrive (it makes your sound dirty). Some sound good after the filter, some don't. Mine does nothing for me after the filter.

This looks pretty cool, though I'd imagine the dispersion is pretty poor...
I had suspected deja vu. Well a bassist's job it to provide a repetitive groove for the singers & dancers, so you could be right.
I have read that the compressor should be before the ovtaver in order to even out the signal but tru both.
A better move is to learn how to play properly. Using a compressor to get better tracking or to even things out points to having a lax right hand technique.

Playing blues is one of those things where it's gonna be great fun or you're gonna want a noose. Blues was where I started on bass & I can have great fun jamming to something like West Nashville Boogie & because it's in Em, you can solo over the root too! However, I don't think there'll be much of that in the electronica band.

The chap at bright onion will make it however you want. I've not dealt with him, but my prev singer had a few custom bits made by him & said he was a top notch guy. Well put together too. The other option, if you're handy with a soldering iron, is to make your own. Making a bypass looper is about as hard as sticking lego together (AKA it's not hard). This way you can have things laid out how you want. I can get you a schematic if you like(in easy to follow format too)?

You'd be better just buying a decent multicore cable & make a box that takes the jacks from the pedals in & sends to a multicore socket. You could either have a similar box at the amp end, or just put a couple of jacks on there (depending on your needs).

Hopefully the 2600 will be next on their list. -
It's a marketing thing. Most people associate watts with how loud a thing is, which has really been false marketing from the outset. So TC's marketing feel they need to advertise their heads to show that it's as loud as all the 500w heads (which it probably is). I'm gonna take a guess that to allow 3 cabs to be run, the amp can either run to a lower Ω than the 4Ω they state, or the cabs are a higher Ω than the 8Ω or 4Ω, or (most likely) both.
-
I'm going for a guess that it was in a language that they don't understand, like English? I'm still trying to work out how this cab malarky works. How do they get the cabs to dictate how powerful the head is? Let me get this right... The RH450 is a 236 watt head (that is stated on TCE's website, though it does say it peaks at @ 450w), but plugging 2 400 watt TCE cabs into it makes it an 800 watt head? Sorry, but to the best of my knowledge, that's impossible.
I'm not talking about playing new songs and refining them, I mean jam sessions that just meander aimlessly along just so that some guitarist can do a 20 minute solo
That sounds like it's only benefiting the guitarist & the rest of the band is making it that way (including you). A jam session is what you make of it. Either stop listening to the guitarist & listen to the drummer & get a groove going, or listen to what the guitarist is playing & take the good bits & turn them into basslines. Get off those root notes from time to time!
-
I've had many songs start from what was a jam. Someone comes along with an idea, whether it be a chord sequence, a riff, a bassline, or a melody & we just mess around with it.
I really don't know. It's in the TC Electronic design for their heads only.
Interesting. The only thing that I could find from TCE's website in relation to the actual wattage of the amps is that they do state the BH500 as a 250w head, the RH450 & RH750 as 236w heads & the Blacksmith is 924w. Though it doesn't say anything about cabs increasing the wattage.
-
Okey. How does that work? Given that all other cabs do not dictate how many watts an amp is other than by the impedance of the cabs.
-
The TC E heads run on the wattage of the cabs. Hang on it will sound crazy at first. Example, the RH450 head has a max. wattage of 800 watts. The BC410 cab is 500 watts max. The BC212 cab, and or BC210 cab has a max. wattage of 250watts. Add the 500 watts of the BC410 to the 250 watts of the BC212, or BC210, and you have 750 watts, 50 watts less than the 800 watts the head is capable of @ total output. OR, Take three BC212, or BC210, or a mix of three of these, multiply the 250 X 3 equals 750 watts. Still 50 watts less than the total of 800 watts allowed. This does mean however, two BC410 cabs shouldn't run from an RH450. The two BC410 cabs will equal 1,000 watts, 200 watts over the Max. 800 watts of the RH450 head. This is shown in the specs of the RH450, Power module rating. It's also in the TC Electronic support, on it's site that explains all of their design for cab combinations. The cab combinations are meant for ONLY TC Electronic applicable heads.
?

+1 & I'd go octave>dirt>dirt>filter>dirt>compressor>tuner. But that would probably change depending on how each pedal affected the next & what sound I was going for. If anyone tells you that it needs to be in a specific order, then don't listen to them as they probably know very little about effects. If you have a specific sound that you're trying to achieve, then we can give pointers. But choosing a pedal order is 1/2 the fun of having pedals (I'm re routing mine as I type).
As far as I know it is advertise as 500watt. The only thing I don't get it is when 3x BC cab is attach how the watt will be distributed.
I think it's either the cabs don't actually run at the stated Ωs or the head runs lower than 4Ω (or maybe a mix of both).
I've been reading a lot that the BH500 is 500 TC watts, which is actually around 236 watts rms. They have some circuitry that makes it sound like 500 watts ( whatever that means )
I know the RH heads are 236w. 500w doesn't really have a sound though & for the amp to go twice as loud as 236w, it would need to be 2360w. I'd imagine a 200w Orange head into an 8x10 can sound a good bit louder than my Markbass 2x10 combo (which is rated @ 300-350w at 8Ω) due to more drivers potentially moving more air.
You be fine mate using the BH500 with tje BC212. Is loud enough already. Of course if you crack everything full on you can do more harm but you shouldn't need to do that anyway. 500watt at 8ohm you get around 300watt of power.
Is the BH500 a 500w head or is it TC watts? That's a genuine question as I don't know.
-
Cheers everyone! I think the BH500 is looking like the most likely purchase right now. The 2 x 10" & 2 x 12" BC cabs are 250 watts @ 8 ohms, whilst my Warwicks are 300 watts @ 8 ohms, so I can use the BH500 with just 1 cab without the fear of blowing the speaker by accident. If I have the urge to go for a full T C rig, I can do it at a leisurely(and cost effective )pace! Thanks again folks!
Don't assume you can't blow a speaker if the watts match. If the band's too loud & you can't hear your rig, then you turn it up, then it can do damage.

I was gonna suggest any good walwart like the OneSpot or the Godlyke, but they're about the same price as the Diago. Mind & get yourself a daisy lead too.
