1. SOLD. Brandoni Cool Rails pick up, perfect condition, complete and hardly used. Ideal replacement for Fender Musicmaster and Squier Bronco basses. Simple to fit, sounds great. Purchased recently from Brandoni London for £40.00. £25.00 includes UK delivery.
2. I'd love to hear the 55, having never played a CS model. I have a 'customised' 63 jazz that sounds immense and I know what you mean about filling the room. I've been unsuccessfully trying to find that huge tone in a lighter weight bass for years - even other pre CBS Js don't have it IME. I don't like the tone from split coil Precisions and I wonder if the single coil 55 would sound closer to my Jazz's neck pick up. Your 55 is absolutely gorgeous in my eyes and if it sounds as special as you say, I hope you keep it.... Otherwise I might not be able to resist
3.
I could sell them both and buy a Mike Lull P Bass that is available. Super light weight, amazing tone and black! Could I turn this negative experience of possibly needing to sell a bass into a fun NBD experience that softens the blow?
This makes sense if you can cope without the 55. How does the sound of the 55 compare with your 64 Precision and Jazz basses? Is the tone similar to the neck pick up on the Jazz, or more like the Precision? Or is it so different that you cannot get close with a J or split coil P bass?
4. I prefer the sound of my cabs from the back, (I like deep bass without too much mid range). Somehow, I can't set them up that way at a gig because it just looks wrong.

I bought some strings from Colin and they arrived next day just as described. He's one of the good guys, deal with confidence
6.
Yes very much so. I believe that this is the single best P bass upgrade you can make.
What are the differences it makes please and is it just as good on a Jazz bass? .
7. I want to like them so much. I prefer the body shape to a Jazz and they usually weigh less. I don't mind the wider neck and the simplicity appeals - I only use the neck pick up on my Jazz. But I don't like the tone - I keep trying them, hoping to find one with the smooth, deep clarity of a good Jazz. I haven't tried a 50s single coil one yet and that might be the answer. I would advise playing one and listening carefully to the tone before buying. And remember you'll have to change your name if you do get one
Hi KP - sorry to derail the thread, but did you get my PM about the Spector? If not, please email me "][email protected] so I know where I stand.
9. I would like the 5 string set if they are GHS Precision stainless steel flats.
10. I am very interested - did you get my PMs? If not email "][email protected] .
11. Strange - they are marked as read. I'll send another now.
12. The higher the fret number = the higher up the neck you go.
13.
Doh, looks like just what I was looking for. I guess they are sililar to XLs as they have hex cores?
I've never used XLs so can't compare. They are similar to Fenders from what I remember - very smooth feeling, with a deep, clear tone. I play reggae and they are ideal for that and very similar to GHS Precision flats and Lakland flats. You might prefer the Status flats mentioned above and they are cheaper and available in the lighter gauge. I've never tried them, but I would be interested to know how they compare.
14. I like these, I don't find them too tense and they feel and sound great - http://www.stringsdi...ngs-96658s-p789 .
15. PMd - very interested..
16. I had a GP11 150W combo with 15" speaker that was bought new around 1984ish. It was a fantastic sounding rig, but it weighed a ton and I got tired of carrying it. So I took the head out and had a case made for it, it's a great amp, but still too heavy to cart in my old age. So I bought a markbass LM11 and kept the Trace as a back up. I also use the Trace head as a PA amp at band practises. It's a great amp - 30 years old, used regularly, never serviced and never let me down. But the weight

18. I suppose it's a matter of taste - I much prefer low frets.

20.
You can't not have it and be a reasonable player
That's me - a less than reasonable player I've been told that I shouldn't play music since I was a kid, because I'm tone deaf. That just made me want to do it even more and I would encourage anyone else to do the same
I would be forced to administer a few hefty slaps to get them strumming in the right place.
Nice! - you must be a fun band mate
21.
Robbie running his Markbass rig -
I wonder which bass Robbie is playing? Original 70s or US or Jap reissue?
22. I like tabs and I use them when I need to. I'm not a great player and I don't care, I'm as good as I need to be. I also upload tabs for other spotty ados just like me
