1.
Me no care wot e says! Whe e play be'ind de beat, he is out a time and it sounds sh*te and out a time. When e plays on de beat, it's on de money and sounds like it should!
Agreed
 2. Is this pretentious?
 3.
I'm really sorry mate but to me that's ON the beat . every bass note is on a drum beat. This is, if you will excuse my pretentious term, is what I'm talking about.
Agreed.
 4.
How's that for starters?!?!
Great
 5.
quantifying rhythm is what we should be talking about on musician forums, not so much 'I use these strings to play the dog and duck!'
great - start a thread and let's talk
 6. Do strings lose tension with age? The GHS Precision flats seem to become less tight after a few years and the bass needs to be down tuned a bit every few weeks.
 7. I have had exactly the same experience and I've tried various flats to find the perfect balance of deep tone and low tension. My fingers and hands are suffering after years of belting high tension steel flats. I've settled for GHS Precision medium gauge, which are quite high tension but they have that deep thump. Pyramid Golds lack thump IME, they are very similar to TIs tone wise, just a little higher tension but they still have the nickel tone without the thump of steel. Have you tried rotosound tru bass nylon strings? They are high gauge but low tension and they have a deep thumpy tone. I didn't use them because I don't like the way lower gauge strings rattle on the frets, but I will probably go back to them to save my hands. Here's a review ;
 8. You could always phone the seller - his number is in the original listing -
please call 01768775812 if you need any help
9. I have Picato 45-105 flats on mine and they do sound deeper, considering the limits of the strat pick up. I replaced the stock pick up with a Brandoni cool rails one, but it made no improvement to the sound so I put the stock one back in. I've been thinking of trying a Seymour Duncan SCB-3 - http://www.thomann.d...uncan_scpb3.htm The MINGS one you linked is much cheaper and might be worth a go, but I'm not sure if these types will fit easily in the existing space. Edit: Just realised the MINGS is £10.11 including shipping from Hong Kong! - how can they do that?
 10. That looks great I have the same bass that I'm also thinking of modifying. The stock pick up is fine, but it sounds too middy for me, I need more deep bass for reggae and dub. Fitting a neck pick up is a great idea and I'd love to hear it with some heavy flatwound strings.
 11.
For a pub date, I'll say £250 min and £350 plus if we do very well...
Is that including PA and lights?
 12. Thanks AT - I forgot I posted in that thread last April to ask what is the tone like? Will it go really deep for reggae, like the neck pup on a Jazz bass?
 13. I'm thinking of buying one of these - http://www.thomann.d...tage_series.htm - Edit - bought one, but the neck was way too thick for me. Now I'm thinking of getting one of these instead: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mb222t.htm Has anyone here had any experience of the JB-20? I particularly want to know whether the neck on the JB-20 is slim like an old Fender Jazz, or thick like a Precision. Also, what kind of weight I should expect from the JB-20. I would fit flatwound strings and I play mainly reggae so I need a deep, smooth tone. £75.00 is not a lot for a new bass....... unless it's rubbish
 14.
That's a very kind offer of you
What offer?
 15. Why close the thread? It will manage itself if any new bands update the list as they post. The initial interest will tail off but it would always be there for future 'likers' and it's an archive of the many and varied bands that we share on facebook.
 16.
I hope its not spreading too far as its becoming a challenge to keep the list updated. If it gets to big I reserve the right to opt out
Maybe each new addition could update the list and add themselves to the bottom - that way the thread would manage itself.
Are we all using personal pages to do this though? Some folks are saying they've been through the list, but nothing materialises!?
Some people are not using personal pages and likes from band pages do not count towards total likes.
 17.
I hope its not spreading too far as its becoming a challenge to keep the list updated. If it gets to big I reserve the right to opt out
Ha! There's a lorra bands out there aren't there I'm back up to date, enjoying liking everyone and got a couple more likes in return - it feels good
 18. And I suppose not all bands are to everyone's taste - I liked all those in the list regardless of musical content, but maybe that's not the idea?
 19.
Are you talking about the link in your sig? If so it's not in the list so I hadn't liked it, but have just done so
Thanks man and thanks to all the other likers too
 20. 56 likes given and 8 received - not a great ratio so far
 21. That's very decent of you Hugh We'll probably never know who made the repair but hopefully a new driver will fix the problem.
