  1. It looks great but reading the few reviews that are there for it, it doesn't sound like it is very accurate even as just a peak level display, so it will just have to be cool flashing lights in your studio rack!
  2. That is odd! I am struggling to think of any reason as to why it is fret marked as it is
  3. Yodaclub's songwriter says all of the songs were written with a P bass sound in his head, personally I think it's utter tripe! Especially as I tend to gig the USA sub with the band more often than not, although, I do use the P bass for all fretted bass recordings for both Yodaclub and Saving Amy but use my Bass Collection for any fretless recordings as I don't find a fretless P cuts it for recordings...if that makes any sense?
  4. On an upside I ordered a cheapo factory second semi acoustic bass from Gear 4 Music via an Ebay auction in November, I get a message the following day to say that they couldn't actually find the factory second in the warehouse so I could either cancel the sale or they would send me a brand new bass for the same price, I took the latter option and received a spanking new bass a couple of days later, which, to be fair was worth just about what I paid for it!
  5. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Precision-Bass-with-bag/163455746207?hash=item260eb8c09f:g:tg8AAOSwVcVcJlJb Is it just me or does there seem to be a complete inability for people to do any research and identify a genuine Fender before trying to pass off dodgy copies as the genuine article? Difficult to tell exactly what it is / was, the neck looks like a cheap modern replica, the body possibly an 80's Jap build, the pickups look like Dimarzio's so may be most saleable bit of the bass I have messaged the seller, let's see if the listing gets changed
  6. My only concern with this is that we will likely see it back up on Ebay for some time to come as mug punter tries to pass it on to another mug punter, so one fake bass will rip off a bunch of mug punters, I guess all we can do is keep reporting it every time it appears, what really gets me with this one is the fact there were so many obvious clues in the photos that clearly show it was not genuine yet still it goes for silly money!
  7. Got up, went for a walk, came home played bass, in laws arrived, started cooking and eating, still going.....send help!
  8. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Fender-USA-Precision-Bass-Neck-2008/192767562199 I can understand someone wanting to remove the front headstock decal if they wanted to colour match the headstock to the body or, as the add suggests, go for a more vintage decal, however, I can't understand why someone would want to remove the serial number from the rear of the headstock! I have messaged the seller asking for a photo or a record of the serial number as surely if the removal of the decals was for a legit reason then the seller would have taken a photo or kept a record of the serial number?
  9. That is rather lovely! My only reservation is that it will always be a bitsa bass, the serial number will tie up to a neck not a bass, without some kind of provenance from the seller selling it on at that price could be difficult, on the up side the seller has a perfect feedback score of nearly 1000, if I wanted the bass I would be happy to deal with the seller and hopefully get some kind of provenance for the bass
  10. I just concentrate on getting a good signal to the recorder, I run out of the DI out on my Markbass LM3 and couple that with a Red Audio 6 Condenser mic in front of a 1x12 cab, between the two signals I am getting all the bass tone I need for a recording
  11. That'll be mine then, I will share a few photos once it arrives!
  12. I have often wondered about this seller, pretty much everything I have ever seen him list is, in my opinion, overpriced rubbish, yet he has nearly 13000 feedback scores with the bulk of them being positive, who is buying this stuff and being happy with what they got and the price paid? It's a strange one!!
  13. I have reported it again today
  14. Best purchase, an Allparts Precision bass neck, every bit as good as a genuine Fender neck for less than half the price Worst purchase, a Tokai Thunderbird bass, nothing wrong with the bass itself if you like playing a park bench, but, I didn't like the Epiphone Thunderbird I had previously so why oh why did I think the Tokai was going to be any better....stupid is what stupid does!
  15. An end to poverty and inequality in this country and a government who actually cares about the people of this country not just their own political aims, no?.....What colour can I get a Unicorn in then?
  16. Yeah 100% sure it was a Hondo as I removed the decal from the headstock and replaced it with a Fender one, I had the frets removed as it was largely unplayable when I got it, then realised I didn't like the fact it weighed about 12 lbs so disposed of it for next to nothing, I wonder if it could have been a Korean one which had gained a MIJ neck plate as I assume Hondo stayed with the smaller neck plate across build platforms? It's a shame as I had a load of images of it including the neck plate but lost them when an old hard drive gave up the ghost!
  17. I have always liked "foot lighting" the bands I play in, in a Bauhaus, Pete Murphy style, strangely it seemed to annoy the singer and guitarist who constantly wanted to look at his fret board! It makes for really effective lighting though! I also love up lighting the drums with a couple of lower wattage Par cans shining up through the snare and floor tom, that also looks really effective
  18. I will certainly bow to your greater knowledge on these basses, one query you say the Hondo's would not have a MIJ neckplate, I had a Hondo Precision with the thinner MIJ neckplate on it? was it only Jazzes that were not made in Japan or not made at all?
  19. I would say that it is a SB801 (as it is a through neck bass) and possibly my old bass (The quilting on the front looks slightly different to mine but the light on my old photos is not great) Sadly I don't have any images of the back of my bass to confirm what it looked like, I had mine back in about 1988 and sold it on soon afterwards as due to poor technique I kept flicking the G string off the side of the fret board..........I have put a hefty bid in for it as I wish I had never sold it!
  20. I have spent a fortune at PMT Northampton, I have tended to find them very good, they are not perfect and I miss the personal service you get dealing with a small shop but by and large I have been happy dealing with them
  21. It is a cheap Japanese copy, possibly a Hondo as the neck plate is smaller than a Fender one, it has had a truss rod cover on it and the bridge has screws at the front so it is definitely a low budget Japanese instrument and in it's current condition probably only worth a tenth of what it has been bid to. I have messaged the seller, his feedback score suggests he has had issues before, I will see if I get a response and if not I will report it.
  22. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/fender-jazz-bass-guitar-made-in-japan-in-need-of-tlc/401653350103?epid=1924933726&hash=item5d8467bed7:g:MqcAAOSw8R9cDBzG Totally fake Fender Jazz, already bid up to £107.00...someone is going to be disappointed!
  23. Gutted, one of the true founders of the Manchester punk scene, we saw them in Leeds earlier this year, I never thought it would be the last time I would see them......RIP Pete
  24. Slightly off the wall maybe but Killing Joke's Love Like Blood bass sound and especially how it sits with the drums in the mix has always been my favourite bass sound and one I have struggled to emulate on any recordings I have done
  25. I totally feel for you, I really hope you get these back and I hope the thieving scum that took your stuff get their hands chopped off! I know you have probably done it already but if not, I assume these guitars are going to be tough to value so I imagine anyone tempted to buy /sell them will need a valuation, I would contact the likes of Andy Baxter, Bass Direct and any other bass specialist shops that would be able to value the basses? I am so glad the cats are OK, this is always my biggest fear if we got burgled
