1.
just great where can i buy one how you get a three jazz pickups in one? Lance love to hear how it sounds
I *think* it originally came from prosebass on here, try and have words with him. Cool project anyway, if i end up making my own bass it would be some sort of jazz with a mm humbucker bridge and a jazz pickup in the neck If it is one of the prosebasses then it's an interesting bass indeed!
2. i bet they do! haha
3. That's great reminds me of what jobiebass on here did with his precision, really good look!
4. Thanks preamp was free! I've been sort of trying to hone my rig to the bare (but best sounding) essentials too, it's totally been worth it And do it, could take a while
5. oh nice one i love ashdown stuff As for me, my ashdown head blew up, haha (i still have it) so i bought an ABM300, sounds f****n brilliant! Sold everything else apart from my warwick corvette $$ (again, f****n amazing ) and my musicman project bass, which, in fairness, nobody would want to buy anyway There's a link in my sig to my progress, did a bit more today if you care to have a look
6. lol yes the sad one though if it was me, i'd have gotten a nice amp and maybe a mid range bass or none at all, but thats just me you seem to like your eighties basses though!
7. sorry mate sold that a few weeks ago, and thanks
8. i actually quite like the pick sound on that jazz
9.
Here's my current Thumb Lovely bass...but still not sure about the MEC stuff?
That's a beauty!!! Wish my corvette still looked that new
10.
Anybody recommend a cheapish warwick as a workhorse bass you can just throw in the boot of the car ?
Corvette or streamer std?
11. So there haven't been any updates on this for a while, and they've been a long time coming. So a while ago (it was before christmas i believe, getting on for a year ago), a very nice person, who wished to remain anonymous sent me a musicman bongo preamp and knobs for free, and a big thankyou to that person . I don't think he visits these parts, but that's beside the point. Anyway i just ahd to get round to fitying it, as it required some *ahem*, modifications... Anyway, on a spur of the moment kind of thing i decided to get cracking on it. I stripped the whole thing down yesterday (i had ripped the controls out some time ago and crudely made a big hole where the control plate had been right through the body.) I then got the router out today and neatened that hole up a bit, and set to drawing out a template for the hole for the rest of the electronical gubbins, batteries etc. I then routed out the hole. Not massive news but it's certainly a start. Anyway, here are some photos, they're a bit shaky/crap qualty as i had to use my phone because i left my 'proper' camera at my mum's house due to the aforementioned spur-of-the-moment-ness: The preamp and knobs: The hole through the body after neatening up a bit, for those of you that are a bit eagle-eyed, i had a bit of an accident with a chisel... so if it didn't need a refin before (it did), it definitely will now: About to cut out the router template: Routing done, not the neatest routing ever but it was my first time, and i'm pretty pleased it's certainly workable: Now i need to get the right router bit to cut out the little step for the cover, i have some PVA which should hopefully be enough for a front/back plate. I also need a new jack socket and possibly a few pickup screws depending if i want to run two pickups or one, not decided yet. Might go for two as i will need a new pickguard otherwise. Anyway, i would like to have this finished before the SE bass bash, but this is unlikely, but i'll try!
12. pah, in that case i disallow you to use that smiley! nice one man pics when it arrives!
13. nice are they framii? (sp)
14. why?
15. These appear to have gone out of fashion on here mate nobody even replied when i tried to sell one a few weeks ago, do yourself a favour and stick it on ebay, it'll sell faster and you'll get more than £100 too
16. just my opinion, but i tried both and i preferred the neck and the sound on the vintage modified, the neck wasn't glossy and seemed faster to me and the pickups seemed to have a bit more bite to them, the classic vibe seemed like it was trying to sound like a vintage fender... which isn't my bag.
17. ooo tolex case, nice
18. Ebay bump

21.
Heres another 20th anniversary and a stirling. I think the stirlings really underrated.
*sterling Sorry for being so anal
22. nice, i rather like that schecter
23. i usually have my EQ set something similar to that these days ^^ really cuts through for me in my metal band!
24. yeah the back of that neck looks amazing (not too sure about the laminate on the heel but your call), gorgeous fretboard too!
25.
Can you elaborate please Wayne Ive got some serious Stingray type gass
I used to own a SUB and i did own a jazz too for a bit (though not that particular one), as wayne said, sound wise, the SUB has much more balls and just sounds a lot growlier, whereas the jazz sounds a bit more polite... it's only really the way you can describe it... The musicman has the preamp too, so there's a lot more scope for different sounds etc. And obviously the jazz neck is a lot thinner.
