4.
nice. That's an "interesting" pickup position for the G+L. I would have thought that a humbucker in the front position would have sounded a bit too "full on" for a bass on it's own. But i dunno, bet it sounds great
I'd imagine it would sound a bit like a p-bass with a bit more bite and flexibility, cool
5. nice collection bet that G&L sounds good through that rig! You got an awesome deal on that amp by the way
6. that's actually bloody nice looking!!!!! EDIT: cheap too!
7.
The top is santos rosewood, followed by a 5mm zebrano accent & the back is American black walnut. The neck is a 7-piece, consisting of mac ebony, bublinga, maple and wenge. The fingerboard is acrylic impregnated zebrano.
The bubinga in the neck looks great, the darkness of the ebony and wenge really brings out the red
8. i'll eat my own face if this isn't sold within a couple of days!
9.
No, the Jazzes were all American Standards. The differences were weight, sound quality, neck feel, neck finish & overall finish. Some still come through with serious glitches in the finish, such as two inch square rough patches where the gloss lacquer has somehow been missed... But as I said in other posts, hand pick yourself a good one & they're fantastic.
Fair enough, true for any bass really. I've only ever had one experience with fender really, was a reggie hamilton jazz. Very nice bass, if i was ever to go fender again, it would be one of those, but it just lacked the balls i wanted in a bass. It is rather worrying that all those american standards had such discrepancies in the fit and finish though! Though i never have really been one to be that bothered about weight (i actually dislike basses that are too light).
10.
Railways? - £24 from Nottingham to Woking?
not sure i can justify spending £30+ on a bit of bass indulgence right now
11. It does, as OBBM says, look like a genuine stingray neck, the control panel and pickup may be too, though the bridge and body definitely aren't. Bit of an odd one that. I won't bother reporting it though, you'd have to have something wrong with you to think that was a stingray. As wayne says, if it goes cheap, it could be worth a punt just for the neck alone.
12. can i ask what the differences between all the jazzes you tried were? I'm just having trouble imagining that they're all really that different... i dunno, i'm not a fender man. (though i'm kind of assuming you just tried american standard jazzes, unless you meant different models?)
13. Aye, if i can get a lift from notts (will contribute to fuel) that would be grand, if not, looks like i won't be able to make it. Shame, as i was looking forward to it, but nevermind!
14. nice spongebob dressing gown!
15. nice one, i got me an ABM EVO II 300 recently and it sounds fantastic
16. not a real stingray, wrong pickup, body looks cheap and badly made, bridge is cheap and crappy, wrong logo. If we had some closer shots and pics of the back i could probably pick a whole load more out. Blatant fake.
17. There's a guy on here selling a warwick thumb for £500, which is an amazing deal. What sort of sound are you going for?
18. cool pic, nice ashdown head is it an ABM? bump for a great bass
19. I came in today about 3:15 but you had buggered off home! ah well. And that G&L is nice right??!! I've been lusting after it for a while, but having already owned one, i won't be having another, not that i don't like them, just i prefer my corvette
20. i had an EB180 head (still got it actually), it served me well for a year (i bought it second hand and well used) and then blew up, but it was good for the money and sounded good. Just recently bought a used ABM 300 and it sounds f***ing amazing!
21. not out of order at all. If he can't be arsed to learn the songs at home then it shouldn't eat into your practice time, which you're paying for.
22.
I won't be coming now, can somebody scrub me from the list.
23.
That could end up on the quote thread if left unedited!
oh dear EDIT: *JINX*
