1. Another shoutout for Wunjo here! I always try to make time for a look round there when I'm in London, and inevitably end up buying something when I do! The staff are always friendly and chatty, and nothing seems too much trouble for them. This was a real shock to the system at first- I'd had a couple of unpleasant shopping experiences when the premises used to be the Bass Cellar, so I really wasn't expecting to be treated like a human being... how nice to be proved wrong!
  2.
Actually I don't quite get why you would want to turn them round and put the coils so close together. It might as well be a single pickup bass. Not that there is anything wrong with single pickup.
I agree, that would have been silly and pointless! No, I reinstalled the pickups in their original positions before having the routing done- the magnets line up pretty much perfectly in Jazz Bass position as they are now...
  3.
Do you mean that the neck pickup and the bridge pickup are different?
Yes, the magnets in the neck and bridge single coil Chisonics are orientated differently- I assumed that each magnet would be right in the centre of those massive chrome casings, but they're not. Instead, the neck magnet is right over at the neck-side edge of its casing, whilst the bridge magnet is way over on the bridge-side edge. You can check this for yourself by dangling a tiny Allen key over the pickup cover, and observing where the magnetic field pulls it... hope that makes sense! By having them change places, I found that the neck pickup sound tightened up nicely, becoming slightly less hollow (in a good way), whilst the bridge pickup became less honky, and thickened up enough to be really usable when soloed (more of a Rick bridge pickup tone). I far preferred the tone with both pickups on full as well!
  4.
I played my Decade through my Walkabout combo on Friday - it did sound great. My pickups are both still in the original positions.
Mesa & Lakland are a fantastic combination, definitely! The Walkabout really gets the best out of the Chisonics- I can get really close to Ben (Incubus) Kenney's recent live tone with the pickups where they are now, especially with a good dose of preamp gain. Before I committed to having the body routed, I also tried swapping the neck PU in place of the bridge PU (and vice versa) as an experiment- this also sounded great... very Rickenbacker-esque!
  5. I put a couple of pics up in this thread ages ago when I first had this modified, but thought it justified another round... this sounds the business through my Walkabout head!
  6. Another Japanese Octaver here- s/n: 278800, February 1983.
  7. I've just taken delivery of a Gallien-Krueger MBE150-III combo from Nick this morning. It arrived quickly and in great condition, thanks to the very thorough packaging keeping it safe during the journey from Suffolk to Merseyside. Due to an intermittent electrical fault prompting the sale, a very fair price was agreed for the amp (including the shipping)- the rest of the deal went very smoothly thanks to the regular communication. Highly recommended! Etienne
  8.
Had one of these a few years back...same grill cloth and tolex too. Sounded a beast. Best of luck with the sale!
It is indeed your old cab Chris! Sean bought it from me after I got it from you...
  9.
Just bought a pick guard from Etienne, what a nice guy! Super quick delivery and great communication and price. Deal with complete confidence. Many thanks...
Nice one Cliff, thanks for that!
  10.
Met up with Etienne this evening and part ex-ed my berg ex112 towards his hs410. Etienne is a good friend of mine and a fine player who knows his stuff. His gear is kept in immaculate condition so there were no doubts as to what I was picking up from him. Anyone who buys or sells to Et is dealing with a true gent and can deal in confidence. Thanks again mate
Forgot to respond to this at the time... Nice one Jake!
  11. Cliff bought a Precision Bass scratchplate from me this week- he was a pleasure to deal with! Paid immediately, and correspondence via PM was quick too. Another recommendation here!
  12.
I'll have this please. If it's still around. PM'd you. Thanks
Sold to CH161!
  13. As above! It was made by KGB Music (in Birkenhead) and came fitted on a mid-70's P-Bass that I bought off a mate recently. It looked rather out of place with the rest of the bass looking so worn, so I refitted the original faded scratchplate which I prefer (even though it's broken), so I won't be needing this. There are a few light scratches from playing wear, and marks from where the pots were fitted, but otherwise it's in good nick. I'm after [s]£17[/s] [s]£15[/s] £10 for this, including UK postage. ***NOW SOLD*** Etienne
  14. Mike bought a Bergantino EX112ER from me the other week- he paid very promptly after the sale had been agreed, and has been a thoroughly nice chap to deal with throughout... big thumbs up from me!
  15. Now sold, pending payment. Thanks for the interest!
  16.
If I can sell my Spector, I'll definatley have this and be amp gas free
Good plan!
dimensions?
Height: 15 3/4" or 40cm Width: 18 1/2" or 47cm Depth: 15" or 38cm Weight: 40lbs or 18.1KG
  17. Bump- buy this along with the IP112ER also for sale on here and be amp GAS free!
  18. Bump for final price drop- if it still doesn't sell, I'll be keeping it!
  19. Happy Valentine's Day! I'm gigging in Nottingham tomorrow night, then staying at my parent's place near Milton Keynes on Sunday- I can bring this along with me for any interested parties in those areas or along the route... let me know!
  20. Hi everyone, After recently acquiring another one of these fine cabs in a trade with my good mate Jake (AKA jc_riffs), I have come to my senses and realised that owning three EX112ERs is just plain silly , so I've decided to move one on. This particular cab for sale is the earlier version of the ER, which has a rubberised strap handle on the top of the cab (instead of the later version's side-mounted recessed metal handle). EDIT: Just to clarify, this is definitely the deeper ER cab, despite it saying 'EX112' on the back panel! It's in great condition both inside and out- just some minor scuffing to the plastic corners from being loaded/unloaded at gigs. I have carefully removed and stored the logo badge in a safe place since owning the cab- it will of course be included in the sale, and can be easily reattached if desired. EDIT: Badge has now been reattached to the cab. The padded Berg cover has done a great job of keeping the carpet pristine, and is in very good condition too. I recently used this particular cab with my Mesa Walkabout head for a mate's album session, and it sounded amazing! Power handling is 350W @ 8ohms, but I'd suggest that's a pretty conservative rating- it can certainly put out a lot of sound with the right amp pushing it! Height: 15 3/4" or 40cm Width: 18 1/2" or 47cm Depth: 15" or 38cm Weight: 40lbs or 18.1KG I'm after [s]£380[/s] [s]£370[/s] £360 for this, which includes packing and shipping within the UK mainland. No offers please! EDIT: SOLD (pending payment)- thanks for looking! Etienne
  21.
That's gorgeous - I love the Decade
Thanks, it now sounds as good as it feels to play!
ooooh, lovely ! i bet it sounds insanely good. it's something i've wondered about doing on mine. do you have any problems with the pickup earthing if you touch the pickup surrounds ?
Thanks! I was weighing it up for a while before taking the plunge, but it's turned out great- better than I hoped! I had the talented chaps at KGB Music in Birkenhead relocate the neck pickup and fabricate a custom scratchplate- it looks like a factory job. The neck pickup's poles are now in exactly the same position as they would be on a Jazz Bass neck pickup, whilst the bridge pickup's poles fall pretty much exactly between 60's and 70's Jazz spacing. As you'd expect, the tone falls squarely into classic Jazz Bass territory, but with an extra kick to the low end- cops the aggressive Geddy Lee tone with ease with the tone full up, and a floor-shaking dub reggae tone with it rolled off. I don't recall any pickup earthing problems with mine before the work was done, but I'm sure that a thorough copper-shielding job would probably cure the issues you describe. I got KGB to copper-shield all the cavities whilst the bass was in bits, and it's now super-quiet with both pickups on full...

Jake popped round to my flat earlier this evening to swap his Bergantino EX112ER (plus a smidge of cash) for my HS410. Jake and I are mates outside of Basschat, but this is the first time we've done a deal as far as I can recall- surprising with the amount of gear that's collectively passed through our hands in recent times! Anyway, things went as smoothly as you could want- the only doubt of the deal was whether the HS410 would fit in Jake's Audi's boot (it did... just!). As mentioned above, he's a good bloke to deal with, and looks after his gear- I only hope he holds onto this particular cab for a while! Ta mate, talk soon! Et
