I dont know really i suppose its like an aston martin if you can afford it go for it. I suppose you are paying for the hours worked on a fodera cause a slab of exotic wood and some electronics are deffo not worth that much.

Has anybody got any plans for jazz or precision bodys so i can make a template for cutting purposes. I know you can buy them but i dont really want to have to fork out 30 quid. Cheers Mark.

Its good that bass players can have a place to chat i love this site, the players who run it let you talk! It liberates us thinking members of the band from ebay and other sh*t,i love having conversation on here. Long live Bass Chat!

Nice job what grain filler did you use?

It could be the new pots actually have a slightly different rating even though they are marked up at the same value as the old ones. If the value is slightly more byassed either up or down resistance wise it could be causing the preamp to distort. Have a look for the little trim pot mounted on the pre amp and turn it down slightly, this may solve the problem. Also check that no barrell capacitors have any oily deposits leaking from them, some times they can get knocked causing them to leak and malfunction this will usually result in the signal sounding like it is breaking down or distorted. Good luck.

The singers good.

I wish John Taylor went fretless with more of the Duran stuff around at the same time as Japan.

A lot of the stuff i listen to by chaka khan like the live versions of i feel for you need the low B because you are playing in unison with synths,i wish some one could come up with some sort of onboard electronic detuner as most octave pedals i have used dont really cut the mustard.

For anyone who doesnt like the widdley jaco they should listen to the portrait of jaco album, when he is playing with wayne cochran and little beaver. I wish the man had played more funk he was excellent at it.

HELP - I want to play bass but i dont know what to buy!
YouMa replied to lukethebassboy's topic in General Discussion
I would side with the others on this get yourself the starter pack, learning an instrument can be very frustrating and 70% of kids pack it in within a few months,if you start to get more into it you can always sell up and buy a better instrument. A lot of 400 quid plus basses are not designed with novices in mind, you need something simple and forgiving to start with, dont worry that it wont sound good, most top players have the magic in there fingers and they could make any bass sound cool regardless of its price.Good luck. -
He was damm good on fretless, the playing on omnidirectional badra is sweet.

If you have the feel for slap you can play it on a plank, i dont think anyone can show you how to be a slap bass player just as no bass can be specific to the art. Good slap players either have it or they dont.(No instant slap basses). You have to be a loose funky type of person to play it,i always thought it was a bit like drumming, but your snares, toms and high hats have notes. I love slap and i was playing it in my head years befor i even picked up a bass guitar, the licks i play on my bass have always been my signature tune as i am walking along the street.
Thanks and yes I built it although the neck was "bought in"....the build thread is [topic="40534"]here[/topic] should you wish to have a look. cheers...Paul
I would go with trying to sell a few of these the styling is very nice, stick your name on the headstock mate, prosebass sounds like a winner to me,not keen on the other 2 but i think you might have got it with the precision it is very tasteful, have you got a workshop/shed etc. I would like to try something like this at some point.
The Ozric Tentacles.....hmmm I want to like them, but I just cant,it reminds me of horrid smelly timewasting drugged up fuctards,in hemp hoodies, drinking mushroom brew.being angry at the government, when they live in mum and dads BIG house in Torridge valley..Volvo in the drive,Golden retriever or Collie as a pet...public school educated post hippy laughed out of art school, nutwipes who are as much a part of the system as they try to distance themselves from it....Skinning up and claiming 'Glasters with the fence is like all wrong man'.....they finally mutated into trustafarians...post crusties, and also..c**ts. The music never got anywhere to me,and I just plugged into Joy Division and Killing Joke. (it made the drugs go better) Most have jobs, and kids, and cut their hair now.....and Parents money have them a house in surburbia....
No they dont. They live in a communal mill house in wales. Peter hook and friends do actually drive landrovers, and Youth dissapeared up his own overated arsehole years ago. The last time i saw Ed wynne he still had his locks.

Original and best bassist they had was roly wynne. Sadly he commited suicide a few years back,i love his basslines on velmwind and kick muck. Some of the ozrics stuff is lovely to listen to especially stuff like floating seeds. I think Zia plays bass for them at the moment. If you like there stuff check out steve hillage or gong.
-
John giblins stuff he did with kate was brilliant.

Im really good at reggae,i was quite lucky and just seem to have a natural feel for it in my playing,(I know some people find it very difficult) I wish i was lucky enough to be able to find a reggae band to play in,all that dub stuff lee scratch perry an scientist did is brilliant some early aswad stuff is kicking as well there is a brilliant live album of them at notting hill carnival. Reggae bass lines are lovely to play.
