1. Yes, I run my Focus 1 for both db and leccy. It's 600 watts into 4 ohm so paired with 2 Aggie GS112s, it puts out. But, I always run some sort of preamp pedal with tone shaping in front to boost the signal and add a bit more tonal variety. The AI tone controls aren't the most dynamic, but with a Sadowski pre DI or DHA DI EQ etc...you get more flexibility. The thing I like about AI is that they sound pretty neutral so if you run something like a Tech21 VT bass pedal in front, you get that out to your speakers. As you mentioned above, they sound great for db and other acoustic instruments as well.
2. You'll enjoy this bass. The necks are some of the most comfy to play. I used one as my main bass for five or 6 years. GAS tempted me to move it on and I regret not having it now.
3. A few makers sell strings for 1/2 and 1/4 sized instruments. These may work. I think Corelli do some.
4. Nymans is a good one, although bowing super silvers might be a task
5. Good stuff. Enjoy the journey
6.
Hi there I am interested in the Precision bass you are selling, I have a Musicman Stingray 3EQ 4 String in Transculent Teal with a Rose Wood Fingerboard complete with Music Man hardcase in excellent condition. If you interested let me know and i can upload some pictures. Thanks for your time, Kind Regards Andy.
pm'd
7. Lots of P basses going right now, but all different. If you're after one you'd be spoiled for choice. Willing to hear sensible buying offers. Will only trade for a rosewood Stingray in similar condition.
8. Now SOLD. Bought these last week, went to install them yesterday and they don't fit the string spacing on my particular bass. My bass has a custom neck and bridge and I didn't check the spacing before getting these. They fit the pup cavities fine but don't align with the strings very well. My mistake really. They will fit any standard jazz bass e.g. smaller sized neck pup, larger bridge pup. They haven't been installed, clean black covers and plenty of wire. No screws or foam with these though. £60 posted or make a near offer.
9. Monday morning, tired from weekend work type bump ONO = near offer
10.
Very nice Tom! Didn't realise you had one of these.
Thanks Paul, it's a really nice bass but not what I need right now. It is well balanced and not heavy, one of those basses you can wear all night with no aggro. The Trad pup makes a lovely sound
11. This is now gone in a trade Hi, here we have a 2008 model that was sat in a music shop before the original owner bought it not long ago. I traded with him earlier this year so this bass is really clean. The sunburst is darker than some of these pictures suggest and the rosewood board is lovely and smooth. One very small dink near the forearm contour that I tried to show in a pic but it's that small. Little swirling on the pickguard. This bass is currently sporting a Wizard Trad and the original pickup will come with the bass as well as the modern style Fender ABS case and the adjusting tools, wipe cloth etc... I'm playing my 5 string more and more and heading towards a more modern sound so, as nice as this bass is, it doesn't fit what I'm doing. Price is £750 o.n.o plus P&P. I would prefer buyer collecting or meeting up to posting to be honest. Not entertaing trades unless it's a RW board Stingray 4 or 5 string. A few pics:
12. Nice one Geoff. When I watch others play I soon realise that my technique is a bit unorthodox
13.
... he said to me that this bass was top notch mate
They were all great. I played the piezo only skelf fretless and was really amazed at the tonal pallet the ACG02 preamp offered with just that one pickup. It was the first time I'd really dabbled with the filter stack and once the set up was understood, you could really get a lot out of it. The moth bass was fantastic as well...perfectly balanced and very playable.
14. Hi, where are you located. There is a member on here looking for a db in this price range.
15. I'll have these please. pm'd
16.
...and String spacing has nothing to do with Anus!
It does if it's the G string Lovely bass. Best of luck with the sale
17.
My only gripes about the U bass are that acoustically, it's redundant. You need an amp to hear yourself.
+1, although it's ok for sitting in the front room noodling and working out songs.
...Which leads to the second gripe, it's woefully underpowered in the piezo and even through an amp you have to crank it to hear yourself.
I run it though a Sadowsky pre/DI with the highs off and a little bass to round it out a bit. I think the pre act as a good buffer for the piezo.
...Tuning is also a pain.
+1 Still a worth while investment though
18. I have a one of these now and the tone IME lies inbetween a DB with a pickup and an electric bass. But, it's got something going on tone wise that I prefer to say, my acoustic bass guitar. The whump and rootsy (sorry for the cliche terms) tone helps it fit several styles. You'd be surprised at the depth of sound that comes out of it. Those vids don't do it as much justice. It's a buggar to keep in tune though as the strings stretch like a b*stard. I take it to gigs for acoustic sets and to open mics to give a different tone when I don't feel like dragging the doghouse around.
19.
do you want to sell the 1 x 12s skez
Looking for a trade for the time being. If I find a WA cab I'll probably let these go.
20. Long shot, but looking for a 12 or 15 inch 4 ohm Walkabout extension cab. Will trade my 2 Aggie GS 112's towards this or buy the cab outright.
21. Hi Chris, I won't be able to use this. Hopefully Andy will have it off you. Cheers.
22. How's the tone and volume on this?
23. Many thanks Chris. I'll have a look when I get home from work to see if it's in the ballpark. Cheers.
24.
Hi Tom was looking for a straight sale. What were you offering out of interest?
pm'd
