1. This bass looks identical to one I owned. I foolishly traded it for something else at the Bass Gallery in the late 90's Bump for a great bass.
 2. That Krappy site is fantastic and they look to be a great intro into this style of playing. My sausage shaped fingers would make this sort of thing rather difficult I would think
 3.
These are good deals and jez is a great guy.
+1
 4. Interesting that most are playing with a German bow.
 5. Is this neck significantly heavier than a wooden equivalent?
 6. Where are you located Matt?
 7.
...but what i really want is a propper DB.
That one OldHorseMurphy is selling would be ideal.
 8.
Hey mate . . . it's sound wicked ! I used it with a Scout 1x12 , then an EA NL210 . Beautiful rich tubey tones .
+1 These are great sounding and flexible heads. I run mine in the walkabout cab for double bass and smaller electric gigs. For bigger gigs it drives 2 Aggie GS112s. Never fails to get a great sound.
 9. A Full Circle would work well too.
 10.
I am happy with my Innovation Honeys but prefered the lower tension on the Innovation Rockabillys but they bow like ...... Ugh.
I thought the Rockabillys where the same tension as the Honeys, just black. Does the braided core make that much difference? (sorry for the hijack)
 11.
I think I will take Geoff's advice and stick with the AI head, at least for now.
+1
 12. I think the doubling bit is the hard part. Making the amp right for both leccy and DB can be a challenge. Still, I think the AI with different preamps in front would do the trick. I wouldn't hesitate to use the Focus for electric with something like a Tech21 pedal in front.
 13.
i've heard from a friend of mine that the Mesa Boogie Walkabout 300 its perfect for both.
I use a Mesa Walkabout 12 for both leccy and DB. I don't really aim to reproduce the acoustic tone exactly but it does a good job for both. Nice flexible parametric eq.
 14. I can only echo the others. DB is a great instrument and very rewarding to play. Takes some time but well worth it.
 15. I bought some Hipshot Ultralight tuners off Stevie. They arrived very quickly, well packed and just as described. Top man to deal with. Thanks again.
 16. Congrats, that's a fine instrument to get started on.
 17.
Could you just confirm dimensions to be 100% sure they'll fit my Jazz? Thanks!
I've measured these with a decent ruler but should be taken as a very near approximation. Neck pickup: L=90mm w=18mm measurement between centre of the screw holes is approximately 37mm Bridge pickup: L=95mm w=18mm measurement between centre of the screw holes is approximately 40mm PM'd Moos3h
 18. Friday bump for some great pups.
 19.
ok you buggers,i might have to nip into gear4music just to have a look / go on one & see how massive it actually is,then of course once i have talked myself into it i'll have to flog my G&L. i'm still not shure about the transport thing though as my bro's vectra estate has to fit my gear + his gear, including his two Gretsch guitars so i don't think it'll go.
Tell him to leave one of his guitars at home
 20.
i think i'm hooked,i've already been looking at good quality EUB's----here comes the GAS
I'd skip the EUB and go straight for the doghouse if you can
 21. There is a realist on ebay right now.
 22.
thanks for that Tom,do you know how i can get in touch with him. i must admit i'm really looking forward to it,i just love the sound of an upright. p.s. how's the P bass going ? i'm really loving the Big Al
Just find his profile and PM him. He'll probably read this post as well. Here's a link http://basschat.co.uk/user/410-geoffbassist/ I had the P for a little while but a deal came up for a Stingray so I swapped. Glad the Al is working out.
 23.
I am also gradually learning to play without clenching my teeth! (seriously, its a bad habit I am trying to break))
I stick my lower jaw out when playing DB for some reason...after a few sets it gets a little sore. I've tried to work on it but I'm too busy playing and forget. I'll end up looking like Quagmire
