1. Come on folks, standalone DAW value-for-money doesn't come any better than this! Collection/meet-up Swindon or Oxford areas.
2. I think there's only Zoom still making them, but even their R16 doubles as a controller for your software DAW.
3. Bass, backing vocals, PA, website. The drummer sorts the gigs.
4.
Just found this 'au contraire' article. http://menga.net/adv...ale-bass-guitar
I read that article, and it contains a very obvious non sequitur: '... when you string up a short scale set that was originally meant for long scale, the balance goes completely out, resulting in overtones.' The last statement does not follow from the first. Neither does it accord with my experience of using Chromes on short-scales. So don't panic!
5. I have a pair of Beyer DT150 'phones. They are great for recording with a sensitive mic as they provide excellent acoustic isolation, but too tiring and bass-heavy for other uses. My go-to 'phones are the Sennheiser HD201 - so cheap I got 2 pairs, comfy and quite well balanced. I think I would always want to check a mix through speakers though.
6. Now £30 delivered in UK.
7. New deal on the table: £100 cash on collection, includes free SCSI bay etc. OR £110 delivered to mainland UK.
8. Wouldn't bother me, but that's just me.
9. On a bass gig, the only gadget between bass and amp is my Korg Pitchblack. The batteries last for ages, probably because the current draw is infinitesimal when it's bypassed. It gives you a warning when the battery is dying, and if it does die mid-gig, it defaults to bypassed, so no embarrassing silences. I have had the original TC Polytune on my big guitar pedalboard since they came out. I use it in strobe mode. The polyphonic mode is ok for quickly working out which string(s) have gone out, but it invariably gives a different result when you go to tune just one string. Also it does create some noise whilst tuning, but this could be because I don't have it running on an isolated power supply. For all other purposes it's the Snark clip-on. I have 3 secreted in various places!

11. My favourite phaser is the MXR Phase 100. It's now on my guitar pedalboard and I used to use it on bass.
12. I've had a couple of Laney guitar amps, an LC15 and a VC30, which I enjoyed while I had them. Unfortunately my first bass amp was a Laney 100W combo - need I say any more?
13. This is (I think) the original Blue Mikey. It has a dock connector for fitting to older-style iPods etc - it doesn't fit the more recent models with a Lightning connector. I used it with my 160GB iPod to make live gig and rehearsal recordings like this brief (mono) clip: My Generation bass solo It may also work with older iPhones but I can't guarantee it. It definitely doesn't work with my iPad though. The mic itself has 3 different sensitivity settings. To use it, plug it into your device, then open Voice Memos and choose the quality setting you want. When you're done, either delete or save. When you connect your iPod to your computer it automatically transfers the recording into your Voice Memos folder. Simples! Comes in original box with instructions. £22 delivered in UK.
14. Kala U-bass and Markbass 801 - you can barely see it under my seat!
