It doesn't feel like Christmas until I need to re-learn 'Merry Xmas Everybody' again...
December gigs here we go!! -
Ernie Ball Stainless flats for 5 string bass - 25 squids on Amazon. And they sound marvellous.
-
In the middle of a house move & seriously underestimated how much bass stuff I've accumulated 😂
-
EB Cobalt flats £59.99 + post from Strings Direct; £42 free Prime shipping next day from Amazon. Just saying.
-
I’m always a bit bah-humbug in December. That is, until it’s time to play Merry Xmas Everybody by Slade! Such a fun bass-line, always puts me in the mood!

In the last few days I've tried to buy 2 EUBs, both from a well known retailer. Both of the items, although on their website, were already sold. Who knew it would be so difficult to spend money?

If anyone knows of any Tickets for Tedeschi Trucks Band for the Glasgow gig going, let me know!
-
Playing my longest ever gig tonight. Two sets for a total of c.2 hours. Back should be fine (debut of sub 7lb Serek Midwestern bass).

Trying to sell gear on FB marketplace is torturous. I swear people get a kick out of wasting your time.
-
Can be a horrible experience!
Offered a couple of sets of drawers for free a few months ago. Several people jumped on it very quickly, and thought the fairest thing to do was to offer it to the first to respond. Messaged her and responded to the post saying this. After waiting 6 hours for a response, I went to the 2nd person on the list. To then be publicly slated for being impatient and unreasonable.
Currently selling an exercise bike at half the retail price. Responses are a mix of ridiculous low-balls - like half the asking price, and "what's your lowest price?".

Just started a week's holiday in Buxton. Staying in a gorgeous apartment in the town centre. It has a beautiful kitchen, wifi, and a pool table.
I don't care if it rains all week. *contented sigh*

What would be a good preamp/modeller/driver/DI to go straight into a PA? Before everyone starts naming bespoke, top of the range items, please bear in mind that the budget is low. When I say low, I mean that I was looking at a Behringer BDI21, low.
-
Another budget option that is perhaps offers a little more tonal options than the Behringer and possibly a lot more fun... look at some of the Zoom units. For example, I have a B1on that I paid about £50 for a few years ago. I think it's been superseded by the B1 Four now, but still pretty cheap - though probably a little more expensive than the Behringer.
The B1on models the Sansamp rather well, and has other simulations in it too - plus other effects, a tuner and basic drum machine.
I've plugged mine straight to our PA many times without issue.

Saw/heard Dave Bronze at a gig last night. Blooming good isn't he?!
-
He is indeed. I remember a few years ago, I was going to an Andy Fairweather Low gig, and the mate I was going with came to mine for a few refreshments beforehand. We put on Gary Moore's Blues for Jimi DVD - which had Mr Bronze on bass. I'd never heard of him before, but was impressed - he's a solid player!
My mind was slightly blown when I got to the gig to see him in Andy's band too! We really enjoyed the show.George

I see Fender are celebrating 75 years by reissuing all the usual suspects, again.
-
Indeed. Leo's impact to musical instrument design has always fascinated me - he wasn't a player himself, yet I don't think any other individual has contributed so much. Both with things he designed directly, and the influence on others' designs.
The situation today kind of reminds of of the Ford statement "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.”
We need a modern day Leo!

I do kind of feel for Fender. Any time they release anything even remotely different it typically bombs, while the Precision, Jazz, Strat and Tele continue to be the best selling instruments of all time. How much has a Strat really changed in the past seven decades? Biggest things that spring to mind are the two screws on the bridge rather than six, and the five position pickup selector.

Coming to the realisation that for every hobby I have, about 75% of my actual enjoyment comes from learning about the equipment and getting my nerd on
-
Hi guys quick question. Which flat to choose instead TI Flats? Same clarity and bright sound but more tension are what I need for. Thank you.
-
Helix or not Helix...that's the question
-
Been playing my Lakland 55-01 almost exclusively over the last couple of weeks (through necessity for an upcoming gig), and it's just brilliant. These hit so far above their weight for the money!!
