Mesa Boogie sold, Ashdown, Trace Elliott rumours?
2elliot replied to Chienmortbb's topic in Amps and Cabs
I agree 100% with you, I owned one of the early Peavey era Trace heads and it sounded excellent. I've never seen anyone gig an Elf, but I have seen plenty of old Trace Elliots. ...and fingers crossed for Mesa, I hope they survive. -
Mesa Boogie sold, Ashdown, Trace Elliott rumours?
2elliot replied to Chienmortbb's topic in Amps and Cabs
What range of amplification would that be and what great things are they doing with the brand? I thought they only make a 200w class D amp that doesn't have the Trace Elliot sound. It's an ok amp but just a toy compared to the original Trace gear. -
New Mesa Subway head - Further update with added snake oil

Maybe it does sound normal... maybe it's the amp making it sound normal? Anyhow... I'm still interested in the Mesa -
New Mesa Subway head - Further update with added snake oil
2elliot replied to Steve Browning's topic in Amps and Cabs
I wish people would use a normal bass when demoing gear. I'm very interested in this amp, watching someone using a bit of drift wood with several midget gems stuck it does the demo and me no favours. -
Here's another one from the Yamaha site... Hooky Yamaha Guitars

If you want a bit more info, check out the latest Instagram Q&A. Jack and Hooky go through a lot of detail about this bass. The link starts off a bit ropey as they had a few internet issues but definitely worth a watch if you are interested in Peter Hook and this bass... Hooky & Jack

Gotcha, every day is a school day. I used to own a T Bass, I always remember the neck being huge, so I've always associated Status with wide fingerboards.
-
Peterson (spelling ?) Combo... I always wanted one of those when I was a youth. Cool.
-
That's a cool bass. I didn't know Status made J width neck.

The BB2000 cost big money when new. You can stick another £1k on top of that price to get somewhere close the RRP.

I was having noise issues with my 70s Clone Theory, hum, buzz etc. depending on the venue. The early versions are hard wired to a 3 pin plug. I know a great amp tech in North Shields, Route Two Amplification, so asked him if he could take a look. The overall repair wasn't straight forward but it's back up and running and sounding brilliant. The original plug and lead removed and replaced with a 12V DC 'Boss type' power socket, plus a couple of mods to the circuit to help keep the noise away and level out the on off volume. I'm a very happy boy...

That's cool. What's the nut width?

You should change your name to Shallow Al. Lol. I'll get my coat...

I don't understand what all the fuss is about regarding neck through. As far as I'm aware this bass has always been a bolt on. It's no surprise.
-
True and made in Japan. I'm not interested in neck through though, the current bolt on design Yamaha uses is excellent. My 734a was one of the first in the country and the neck hasn't fallen off yet. Lol.
