  1. It's only a cheapy but the Eden Glowplug tube warmer does exactly what you're after. Whether you like it's sound or not is another matter but I really like it. It is fairly overdrive heavy but set low it just adds a nice growly warmth. Only downside, for me, is that it uses a 15v supply.
  2. I too have a black Club Ignition and made a new control plate and pickguard in plain cream as I didn't like the white standard ones. With hindsight I think you're right and I totally should have just converted to a stack knob volume/tone for each pickup. I kept it standard as that's how it 'should' be but it really would benefit from actually having a normal tone control I feel. I tend to leave both pickups switches on and roll the bridge pickup volume up and down to brighten or darken the tone.
  3. I'm really finding it hard not to contact the seller. He wants to trade it for a 2000 or 3000 but I keep wondering if he'd like an outright sale. I don't need it, I don't need it, I don't need it... ... But I want it. 😂
  4. I confused as to how they're all Marcus Miller signatures.
  5. I yours @Eldon Tyrell might be for sale/trade on the Vintage BB Facebook group. It's blurry as I've had to zoom in lots on a compressed fb image, but look at that dark bit of grain to the top left of the volume knob compared to your picture above. Yours, The one on Facebook,
  6. If that was James Jamerson's (insert other highly regarded bass player) initials then people would be raving about how cool it is to have them etched into the wood. Just because S. P. H. didn't 'make it' should it matter? It's all part of it's history/story/mojo.
  7. What is it? WHAT IS IT!? I'm assuming full fat Japanese vintage BB... But which one? I demand to know. 😂😂
  8. I find an upright makes you play in a certain way due to the ergonomics, especially the tight radius of the fingerboard and the string height and spacing. You can emulate this on an electric bass but it's never the same. I have a Variax bass which has a very passable upright emulation but it doesn't play like an upright which I think is the main thing. I can never copy the upright 'bounce' of a fast rockabilly style walking bassline on electric bass... And forget about copying slap. Also apart from the playability, and this might be shallow but aren't we entertainers after all, just the physical appearance of an upright makes people smile. It adds a certain look to the band and people always comment on it or want to talk to me about it. It's big, it's cumbersome, but totally worth it. Maybe if I used public transport then I might look at it differently but as there's none around here I have to drive myself to every gig so it's no hardship to take the big, beautiful beast.
  9. I like the slightly mottled effect, it gives it character. Looking good 😎
  10. Not a band but a whole genre. American Punk Pop that those into it think is super cool, sounds just like it could be the latest Busted release, which those into American Punk Pop would hate.
  11. Check. Days of the month.... Check. Looks like days of the year is the next logic target. 🙈
  12. Do you realise how long it took @pedto create all those extra accounts to attract advertisers? 😂
  13. That's because they're endorsed by Jaco. 🤦😁
  14. I know it's not an answer to the question being asked but I genuinely think one of the most important things to learn as a beginner is how to do a basic set up. Nothing crazy, just neck relief, string height, intonation, pick up height, and nut slots if you're up for it. It can make almost any average bass into an excellent bass. Taking it somewhere to be done is all well and good but we're all different and if you don't know what you want/like then you're just getting what someone else thinks you should have. If your bass plays nicely then you'll want to play it, if it doesn't you won't. A basic set up is really very easy and can be done with less than a tenners worth of tools.
