I could be wrong, according to Lady Maude it has happened before, but wouldn't simply resting your hand (or a finger) on the snare skin stop it resonating, in much the same way as resting your hand on your strings mutes them? I assume it's the skin vibrating against the snare, or is it the actual snare that sets up the resonance? Even if it was the snare, damping the skin with a digit would surely stop it being amplified. Too simple?

I'd never heard of this and had to look it up. Now, I'm fully aware I can be a bit of a cynic, but isn't this just a way of selling 'putting on headphones and closing your eyes' as a new, trendy thing to do? Whilst I can appreciate the idea that it's the aural version of going to the cinema, I just can't see paying money to sit in a dark room (probably not pitch black due to H&S/fire regs etc) and listen to music with loads of other people coughing, whispering and shuffling off for a pee to be particularly enjoyable. Listening to music in the dark is a hugely immersive experience, and to be encouraged, but I'd rather just do it on my own terms in my own house, as I, and probably many others have, for years.

I wonder if it's the same red finish as the BBPH. I'd assume so as that is the same deep red indoors/bright red outdoors kind of difficult to photograph finish.

As far as I'm aware the 734/5 is the only BB to get the dark brown to black sunburst rather than the more traditional sunburst with the reddish hues like the P34/5. Like you, I much prefer it. As you say, it's very classy. I think I still prefer the range before this, but if I want a modern active then this is it... just behind the BBPH 😁
