1. It's amazing how "..And Justice" has aged so well though, dodgy bass-less sound that it is: there's no aging it as it is so unique sounding. I've not been an active fan since then - the Black album was okay-ish if you treated it as a Bon Jovi record rather than thrash metal, and now they're almost a parody of themselves. I'd still act like a giggly schoolgirl if Hetfield came and said hello mind...
2. I own an Xotic 4-string variant (the same as this: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Xotic_XP4_3TSB.html) Apart from the 'passive' requirement I would have said it was the perfect 'Yoda-P'. Until the next one comes along of course, when it will be demoted to Mace Windu status. It was interesting at the bass bash that I don't think anyone had a play on mine, but about 20 had a crack on Mr Swift's. Maybe everyone prefers a 5 these days. Can't be anything to do with him, surely.
3. Avenged Sevenfold. Hail to the King. I've like most of their output up until now. This seems to lack any redeeming features.
4. I too am a quiver user. No discernable change in tone pre & post attachment.

6. Fantastic time had. Big thanks to SilverFox & Hamster for organising. Couple of points: * There clearly aren't enough hours in the day, especially if you have to dash home for child caring duty. * The quality of the talks was excellent. * I too am not sure I'll bother bringing any basses with me next year: I don't think either was picked up at any point - and unless the owner was there I wasn't about to pick up random bits of kit. * Surprising amount of machine gun slap in the noisy room. next time I'm bringing a headphone amp and some in ear monitors (occlusive). At NAMM and the other music shows they have 'quiet' periods, which I would have appreciated. * Played some lovely basses. Clarky: I can't promise not to buy a ritter. My Ritter gas is now set to 'kill' rather than 'stun'... (although I can't find it on the bassgear.co.uk web site...)
7. Bump. Will a price drop to £750 elicit any offers? Open to trades as well. Cash either way...
8. Shadows version of "walk don't run" I was 11. It was 1985. Played it on a Westone Concorde I in black.
9. I bought a pair of Adam A5s from DV about... three years ago (I'm guessing, may be slightly longer). Been very happy with them, they've seen a lot of use. They're in a smoke free studio, but recently one of them has started making odd noises - if you imagine you're turning a dirty pot and that sort of rough sound with the occasional crackle. Recently it's deteriorated and now the volume is fluctuating too. I thought it may be an some external source (mixer, audio interface), but the noises persist (on a sporadic but getting more persistent basis) even when only the power is plugged in. Questions: It's only happening in one, can I therefore rule out the power supply (as in, out of the wall) as a source of the noise? Is this a known issue with this model (the internet doesn't seem to think it is)? What's my best course of action? Does anyone know if Adam have licenced / approved repairers? The adam web-site isn't much help, the closest I can find is http://www.adam-audio.com/en/pro-audio/faq#1006 - "Answer: Should service be required, please contact the ADAM Audio dealer where the product has been purchased." I would prefer somewhere local and trustworthy. 10. Bump. Too expensive? Way of the world at the moment? I don't think this is over-priced, but I may be valuing it too highly. Please feel free to offer up trades - I'm very polite at saying 'no'.
11.
Wizard Trad did it for me
Ditto. Although I read he's retired now. Which is a real shame, as I've loved everything he put out. Did some fantastic work making some pups for my GW which really opened up the sound. But I digress.

13. *** GONE *** Up for grabs is my Aguilar GS410. Four 10" cast frame woofers Phenolic tweeter Custom crossover with variable tweeter control One Neutrik Speakon and two 1/4" inputs Deep Dish Handles, Locking Corners 7 ply, void-free Philippine Mahogany Power Handling: 700 watts RMS It came to me used, and has been used every week of its 4 years with me. It is functioning perfectly, but the wheels need replacing. I'm selling as I've just bought a Barefaced rig which is much kinder to my back in my dotage. Collection from Egham is best, or I can put it in the post, but it's quite big & heavy. According to this, 98lbs / 45 kgs. - so I think I'd have to have the buyer organise collection.
14. *** CHANGE OF HEART *** WITHDRAWN *** NOT FOR SALE **** EX-PARROT *** Up for grabs is my ACG j-type. Alder body with 3 piece Maple neck and Rosewood finger board (24 frets) Weight is 3.6kg (just shy of 8 lbs) . SB single coil pickups with a U -Retro pre-amp. Grunge black finish. ACG made it with chrome hardware, but before he shipped it, I got him to replace everything with black hardware and put on a d-tuner: the original look can be seen here. It's in immaculate condition. Came to be direct from ACG: I think that it was used as a trade show demo bass. It's been gigged but the finish hasn't got any dings or scratches that I can see. Comes with a padded case. Trades wise I'd be interested in something similar but different. If you have a thumb or a new-ish precision that might pique my interest. Cash sale is preferred and I can haggle a bit on price. I'm selling because I bought an Xotic Precision, and this is sitting around, unused and unloved. Well, not unloved, but it's too nice to not be being played. It's easy to play, hangs nicely, and I think it looks great. Buyer pays postage. Bass can be experienced in Egham, or brought to central London (with a bit of foreplanning).
15. I didn't really understand the first question: "which of the four audios you drew more attention" - the obvious choice here is 'a' because of the flange / chorus effect gives it an upper mid that makes it sound more lively. I took it to mean "which sound would you play with". Hope that's right.
16.
For slightly rarer, more specialist and more expensive gear I wouldn't go anywhere else but here.
+1 Basschat is a specialist market-place. I can imagine your Fender or warwick going for more on e-bay, but I seriously doubt that's true for an ACG, dingwall, or an Xotic.
17. Big fan. But now confused with the introduction of google music (streaming and downloading of my music collection on line) and the new Amazon autorip (ditto). I can't complain at £10 for unlimited music and £12 for unlimited data.
...the ability to right-click on a song/album/artist/playlist and start a radio station based on that. I discover so much new music this way...
I think that the algo they use based on my music needs serious work: mine keeps repeating the same 20 or so songs - makes me think that artists may be paying to have their music 'featured'.
18. Like most people here, our set list tends to be fairly fluid. ~80 songs from which we pick a couple of hour long sets. The encores tend to be fairly standard. We try & introduce current hits & drop them as they disappear (Gagnam style, Walks like Rhianna, Blurred Lines, Get Lucky &c) Plus if the 'rock' section is bombing we'll move to Britpop or Disco or greatest hits, or anything someone will dance to.
19. BMW 330D SE touring (aka estate) for me. Regularly pack in PA Sub, 4x10, rack mounted head + tuner, 2 basses, box full o' bits, mic stands and a passenger, and have plenty of space. Has a bit of zip about it. Stops well too. But inability to use indicators & stay in lane is a problem. (There's a whole 'nother post about how I change behind the wheel depending on if I'm in the BMW or wife's jazz) The downside is that the top of the rear bumper has taken a beating. But that's what it's there for, eh? When it goes 'bang', I want to replace it with something that I can remove the back seats from. My old Galaxy could do that. Or rather the back-back seats folded into the floor. Skoda Yeti perhaps?
20. +1 for Oliver's Army. Such an iconic bassline you have to get it right.
21. I am an advocate of the fee. I like the fact the for sale forum is now no longer a gushing torrent where your bass would be on page three by the time you hit 'refresh' to check your listing. I understand the decision to ban rics for sale. That doesn't stop me being miffed that the fee I paid I understood to mean I could sell anything, and now I'm left with a Ric I'm trying to sell, and I'm having to expose myself to the risk of Gumtree or evilbay in order to do so.
