1. Okay, cross post with twigman. Looks like it will be mine. PM en route.
2. Also need to know colour. PM if it's chrome and we'll sort out payment and shipping.
3. Fantastic work. That's just the sort of thing I was looking for. Thanks
4. As the title says; I'm looking for recommendations for a condenser mic. I'd ideally like these recommendations to come from real world experience rather than brand loyalty/prejudice. I'm about to buy myself an iRig pre (for a few reasons) so that I can plug a mic in to my phone for rehearsal recording purposes. I want to able to put a single condenser mic in the room and get a reasonable sound recording so that we can here the majority of what is happening. My budget for this purchase is low so I'm looking at the likes of the Behringer C-1. If someone could suggest a mic that is reasonable, or pass real world judgment on the Behringer, it would be appreciated. Try and keep it sub £60 Cheers folks
5. Not to hijack/derail the thread, but; This has got me thinking about a pedal design. How's this sound. Bass in - clean boost circuit - out to amp. Effects loop send - back to same pedal - attenuator circuit - out to effects loop return on amp. Done with a stack pot and one knob so that boost and attenuation increase at the same level you'd have no noticeable increase in level when wanting to drive the pre amp harder! How's that sound?
6. I saw this bass in all of its beautiful glory last week. The photographs don't do it justice! Have a bump for a stunning bass at an astoundingly good price! (Thank god it has no frets or my wife would be having a serious sense of humour failure)
7.
Can I have a P please Bob. I never used to like them because, as stupid as it may seem now, when I started as a youngster all the cheap packages you used to get with bass, amp, strap and a set of pitch pipes, you know the deal, were always a P bass copy, usually black or red with a nasty white pickguard. I just associated P basses with cheapness. There were so many other types of bass around that I didn't go near a P for years, and then I got an urge, and now I love 'em ................ still no white plates though please .
This, although I still don't own a P as I prefer a P/J (or 2), I have definitely grown to appreciate them.
8. Trans black epi pro IV sat in a padded gig bag in my music room (to be)! They're a beautiful thing to behold!
9. A bit late to the party with this bit of advice: One of the first things I do when I move in to a new place, or new neighbours move in next door to me, is introduce myself and tell them that I play guitar, bass and drums! I point out that I try to keep the noise down as much as possible and, as I have kids, I rarely play after about 7pm. I then tell them that; if the noise is ever too much then just pop round and tell me as I don't want to annoy anyone with something I do for fun. So far I have lived in flats, terraced houses, semi-detached houses and detached houses and I've never had my neighbours complain or ask me to turn down.
10. Now that it's finished I thought I'd better share a few photos of "Sonic Valhalla" Yamaha Basses; Not just incredible for the price point but useful for scale(s) too! Alternative configuration. Consisting of: 1 x Genz Benz ShuttleMAX 12.2 (Thanks Mark) 1 x Bergantino HD212 (Thanks Richardd) 2 x Bergantino HD112 (Thanks Fretmeister
11. That's it folks. Rig complete. GAS cramps gone (well apart from a minor twinge relating to a Roscoe Century 4). I had a lovely drive down the M1 yesterday evening to visit our very own Paul(fretmeister). After much bass playing and chatting we finally did the deal and exchanged some cash for his pair of Berg HD112's. This has resulted in a rig that that has been dubbed "Sonic Valhalla". Photo's have been deemed as X-Rated and, as such, have been placed straight in the Gear Porn thread http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__2264148 My wife had a sense of humour failure when she realised that these cabs had been bought to "add" to my rig rather than replacing something I was selling! She did come round when I explained about having the flexibility of three cabs and the various combinations that I can use depending on the situation. She has also admitted to having just enough knowledge about bass gear that I need not have told her I was buying them. I brought them in to the house, she saw the Bergantino logo and assumed it was stuff that I already owned as "she'd seen the Bergantino logo around the house before". So, off you scurry to have a look at the photo's. Pay particular attention to the volume knob on the head as I feel it will be getting neglected in future and I don't want it to get too upset!
12. Photo will be posted Here Later today. (Edited to include link to other basschat topic regarding my rig
13. Just picked up a pair of Berg HD112's from Paul. He's a thoroughly nice bloke to deal with. Could have spent many hours or even days chatting. Great communication throughout the transaction. Deal with confidence. Thanks Dave
14. My parcel, also USPS, Took 5 days from New York to UK. It then took a further 6 days to get to my house. Mine was well tracked. You can sign up for email alerts on the USPS tracking site.
15. Assuming you have a driving licence; would it not be easier, and more cost effective, to do a one way car/van hire?
16. General rule of thumb: Do they play the same genre of music? If not then anything more than a passing confusion is doubtful. If they do play the same genre: Are either of you signed. If yes it can leas to issues or publicity. Are you in the same country? People can get mighty pissed off if they think you're attracting their fans to your gigs. How long does their history go back? I say all of this from the position of being in the middle of renaming our band at the moment. We'd just decided to start getting our brand out there now that we're starting to look at booking gigs only to find there's another band with the same name. They are: 1, playing a similar style of music 2, only about 50 miles away 3, playing some fair sized gigs supporting signed bands 4, have evidence of using the name for over 3 years.
17. I'd go with: Bass - mutable input on tuner - front tuner output to amp using a custom length patch cable.
18. Just bought a hipshot gb7 from the states. Hipshot $57 Shipping $10 Exchange rate at time made this £44 Customs stung me for £7 Royal mail (robbing b'stards) stung me for £8 "admin" fee. Still, £60 all in ain't bad.
19. Used to have a Thom (by thomann) rack case. Handles are finger snappingly awkward and very uncomfortable if there's any weight in there. I would strongly suggest avoiding them. It's a shame really as they're strong enough to withstand a nuclear blast! SKB cases get a lot of love but can be tricky to get hold of. Gator cases are comfortable to carry, even with a Marshall 9100 power amp in, but always gave the impression of being a little flimsy. Thats my £0.02. Cheers
20. As an addition to this... for increasing both strength and speed play lots of guitar hero or similar.
21. Epi t-bird pro with a gb7 here too. They don't match perfectly but it's close.
22.
Get shiny chrome wheel nuts and epoxy putty to make them go on pot shafts.
Now that's the "can-do" attitude that makes britain great. I actually really like the idea. As it's for a yamaha bass I think it might need to be some shiny chrome motorcycle parts. Off to scour ebay.
23. Someone on the cars thread has a GT86 and an S12.
