1. Thanks Lozz, I've just smiled for the first time in 12 hours.
 2. Probably could keep going without the guitarist, but, despite not being the best guitarist I've ever worked with he is one of the best musicians I've ever worked with. The whole band were on the same musical page despite coming from very different influences. The drummer is very good, without wanting to over complicate everything. The singer has a good voice, but has never been the front man of a band before so isn't all "look at me". The guitarist is really creative and comes up with interesting riffs but, and this is very rare, knows how to leave space for the bass and drums to breathe. He even needs to be asked to turn up! If I'm being totally honest; we've not split, we're taking a break until next year so we can see how things pan out for everyone in their personal lives. Hopefully it'll be new year, new start. I've just had a REALLY bad day so I'm expecting the worst.
 3. No need to respond to. In fact there's not really even a need to read this; I just wanted to vent! I was in a band earlier this year, orignal heavy rock, and all was going well. We were building the band from the ground up and had written a good length set of songs. We were just beginning to work out what local venues to talk to with the aim of getting our first few gigs booked and BOOM! The singer announces that he's leaving. He's off to the other end of the country for work/family reasons so there's no hard feelings, just came as a bit of a shock to all of us. The band spent a couple of months searching for a singer, to no avail, so I started looking around for something else. I audituoned for a band, original heavy rock, and they offered me the job. I mulled it over and spoke to "management" about it; the decision was reached that I'd take it. Two weeks later the first band found a new singer! So; here I am in two original heavy rock bands. This situation lasted until last week when, after much deliberation, I decided I wasn't enjoying the second band. It had never really clicked. I can't explain it better than that as I liked the guys in the band and I liked the songs we were writing, I just wasn't enjoying being part of it. I told the guys that I'd like them to start looking for a new bass player as I didn't really want to keep going much in to the new year, but I'd keep helping them while they were looking. I obviously bruised the guitards ego as just after I left the car park, we'd just finished the weekly rehearsal, he through his toys out of the pram, quit the band, and told the front man he couldn't use any of the songs they'd written together. So band two went kaboom; doesn't matter as I'm really enjoying band one, until tonight! I had a text from the drummer telling me the guitarist was stuck in a meeting and couldn't make rehearsal tonight, did I still want to get together anyway? I've had some bad news today so giving it a miss tonight was a welcome choice. About an hour later the guitarist phones me to tell me that he feels awful always being the one who can't make the rehearsals and he's going to quit. As he was the founding member of the band, and we've not even got the new singer fully up to speed it has signalled the end of that band! Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!
 4.
Running a Hartke Kilo into a Bergantino NV610 here It sounds great for everything from my folk band to my death metal band . Incredibly versatile, stupidly loud and pretty too Any question then ask away (probably best to quote me so I see it)
At least we agree bergantino are "good for metal"
 5. Using the Shuttlemax for rock/metal through, up to, 4 12's. I'm happier than a very, very, very happy thing! Can't comment on the kilo as I've never had chance to try one, but, I've never really been that blown away by any of the hartke kit I've used. Hope this helps.
 6. If a neck tweak doesn't work then let me know. I've just taken a very nice, good quality, 19mm string spacing, fender fitment bridge off my yamaha.
 7. Seems your sorted, but if not, pm me and I'll sketch the details from my passive yamaha PJ which is wired exactly as you're wanting.
 8.
Start churning the Facebook propaganda machine to encourage people to buy a download of a track that was released 30 odd years ago by a band that was started 40 years ago. That should do it!
Ah, the AC/DC campaign of 2013. Does no one understand that this is a time that could be used to have some fun? 2014's campaign needs to aim for Don Henley's Boys of Summer.
 9. Neil is a top gent. Good communication. Shipped as promised and the bridge arrived looking shiny and new. Excellent transaction that I couldn't be happier with. Dave
 10.
He would have been wearing his bass as a hat had it been my amp! Lots of horror stories makes me lol
In all seriousness; His bass would have been wearing him as a headstock cover! X( (hopefully his bass was a 2 + 2 that got wider at the top rather than pointy)
 11.
Just one volume for both power amp it would seem. Out of interest Why whould you want to control them seperately?
I would guess, and it would be a handy feature, so you can balance the volume between the 4ohm 1x12 in power amp A and the 4ohm 2x12 in power amp B (other cone sizes and impedances are available) so that one cab isn't drowning out the other. It's not a problem I have had but I can see it being a valid situation.
 12. I got about half way through sultans, this happens to be a song that I adore when it comes on the radio. My criticism kind of echos most of the above; it's not so much the flaws in the recording or mixing, I've heard far worse, it's the lack of energy and drive to the tune. I'd say to record the instruments live, maybe at a gig, then record the vocals in a controlled environment. That way you should end up with good clear vocals over music that has the energy that makes you a good live band.
 13.
Hadn't noticed it, but that was an important point. I'll lend you my red court shoes then.
Are they a size 7? Like I say; my feet are very small for a 6' bloke!
 14.
....especially given the magnificent footswitch board with 5 switches that comes with it for free. Two switches for choosing a channel or mixing both, and three for different tone shapes. Magnificent.
For me: the foot switch is a good idea; poorly executed! If you want to use it in the heat of battle then wear pointy shoes. My very small, for a 6' bloke, feet can't hit any of the middle three buttons individually unless I'm staring straight at it. It's a shame really as I would love to be able to hit the mid scoop in one of the bands songs where we move to a a slow build from bass only. I do have plans on trying to wire up a new one with a better, for me, layout. If I can't do that then I'll probablyjust unscrew the bass and treble boost switches and pop them inside.
 15.
Ah, now you're moving into redundancy territory, of which 'PIN number' could well be the classic example, though others abound.
Ah; what is known as RAS Syndrome. RAS - Redundant Acronym Syndrome Scientists and Engineers do have a sense of humour. Although it does tend to fail if you put us in the same room as an accountant.
 16.
One thing that really trumps the 6.2 ,12.2 or 9.2 for me is the max head because the FET channel is really good imo, I bought my 9.2max just to get the tone of my 3.0 (no valve in that one) but with the full 900 watts of either a 9.0 or 9.2 head. Its a shame they never combined the two to give you the flexibility of Daves rig but with the power and twin channels of the max head, it would have been the 18.2 shuttlemax!
600W per side is more than enough for anyone. With just the 2 x 112s, one in each power amp (max 375W per cab), my guitarist complains that his 120W all valve head won't keep up! I didn't have the heart to tell him that my preamp was on 4 and my power amp was on 3 1/2. I backed it down to 2 1/2 and everyone was happy. The drummer was particularly happy as he'd never really been able to hear the bass before. Oh yeah, the tone of the fet channel is to die for. Blending a bit of the valve channel of the higher frequencies, a shade over driven, gives a 70's stadium rock band sound that could only be described as.... ... well actually I'm lost for superlatives.
 17.
@dave - what kinda sounds do you get? I would like to be able to get a warm tube tone and a nice rock tone. Currently use a gsllien 1001rbii as my main amp am a tech 21 vt pre am into the effects return for an ampeg like tone. I am also thinking if the shuttle max with 2 x swr golight 112s
I can get pretty much any sound I can imagine. At the moment it's set up to fill the sound in a rock/metal band that has one guitarist. Very phat and prominent lows fairly flat to slightly scooped mids and a tiny boost on the highs for a bit of sparkle. I have also had it set up will a very (valve distorted) middy sound for a punk band. I will struggle to justify ever changing my rig, although a few hours of playing around with the settings and A/B testing against the CN series of cabs might convice me to reduce the weight a bit.
 18.
Thanks for the suggestion, but the mic's off, unfortunately...
Oh well, I tried to help. (Scuttles away muttering to himself about being a useless waste of space)
 19. That's basically what I have.
 20.
There is actually a Genz porn thread that i started you know.
Really. Hmmm. Must go search for the Genz and Berg porn threads.
 21. I always found that running my active basses In to the passive input and reducing the gain yielded better results than using the active input (ashdown amp). The amp is still going strong after 15 years of fairly heavy use (I sold it to a mate when he started playing bass). The new owner finds he has to use the active input with his passive bass as the pickups are that hot that the passive input means he can barely use the gain knob before it starts clipping. As long as you use your ears, and take heed of any peak/clip warning lights, then you'll be safe using whichever input is most appropriate to your bass. Not all passives are low output and not all actives are hot.
 22.
Not a bass one, but a peculiarity of the way they speak up here in Yorkshire, is the use of 'while' when they really mean 'until'. "I'm working while 3 o'clock" means "I'm working until 3 o'clock" in Yorkshire. Problematic when faced with a sign at a railway crossing that says "Wait while the red lights are flashing"...
As my employment involves finding ways to improve the safety at level crossings; I might need to mention this! We also quite frequently 9 while 5 in Derbyshire!
 23. Don't have an irig(yet) but I have been doing some research and one of the post/reviews I came across described a similar problem. It was fixed in a software setting by turn off the devices internal mic. Don't know if this'll help you but I thought I'd share incase it does.
 24. See my post in gear porn/show us your rig. It looks ridiculous! Edit: last post on page 86. Can't work out how to link from my phone.
 25. Shuttlemax 12.2 here. I "upgraded" from the GBE750 so my opinion is a bit skewed but; I have never played through an amp that is so versatile a doesn't resort to gimmicky effects to get there. I run it through a 112 berg or 2 x 112 bergs or a 212 berg or all of them! With all the speaker configurations I have available it's loud, clear and warm. Never tried the EA stuff so I can't comment on that but I'd say that there isn't a better amp (for me) then then Genz.
