1.
That and roll the tone right off and also play up on the finger board with plenty of meaty pad on the right hand fingers
and look out for a 1x18 (or even 2x18!) cab - these sometimes pop up and are soften urprisingly cheap because they are a bit limited in use. Great for classic old school reggae sounds
 2. I've bought and sold lots of stuff through the For Sale section in basses, amps, effects & accessories. I have also put feelers out to see if there's even a remote interest in selling something & I've withdrawn a bass that I decided to keep (partly because I didn't get offers I was happy with but also because I lived with it for a while and decided I'd hang on to it for a while longer). I've been buggered around a little and I pulled out of one purchase, for reasons mainly out of my control. However every sale, bid, offer, declined offer has been with lots of friendly chatter and everyone has been really courteous - something that cannot be said of a lot of Ebay transactions I've been through. I've made some real friends in the process as well. I find the whole for sale section works incredibly well, certainly better than any other forum based sale section that I've come across anyway!
 3. All that's left now is the: 2x12 Proline in fantastic condition The Gallery is listing these at £759. The 2x12 is a great all round cab. Has a variable titanium tweeter and can cover a hell of a lot of different sound requirements. Details here: http://www.ebs.bass.se/2007/ebs212.htm Perfect standalone unit or works well with. . . . I haven't taken any pics because everything is essentially exactly as it looks on the EBS site link - happy to try & get some pics though if required
 4.
Id say, Yes.
I had a feeling that might be the case
 5. I've recently picked up an SVTII as part of a multi trade. I'd never considered an Ampeg before because I always thought of them as 'rock monster' heads only to be used with an 8x10 stack! Having played through this head a few times I'm really surprised at what a lovely pure tone it has, have tried it through a few cabs and seems to sound really nice through all of them. Problem with it of course is that weighs more than the average child & is a beast to lug around. Ampeg quote about 70lbs for it but with a flight case as well it's even heavier. I noticed that the III has pretty much the same front end as the II but has a solid state power circuit (and only weighs 26lbs!) & wondered how close it gets tot he sound of the II? Is it those wonderful 6 glowing power amp tubes that are making all the difference or have Ampeg managed to replicate the core oft he sound without the weight, and hassle, of the power amp tube section?
 6. Looking like the newer of the two combos is now sold. Older one still up for grabs if anyone's interested. If not it'll stay at home for practice use
 7. How about another £50 off then £1,150 anyone?
 8.
Hi barrie you have PM re Newer Combo
and a reply
 9. Yep - I got the 10% offer & cashed it in last weekend for some rack gear worth £440 - got the full 10% off a multiple set of purchases from the same vendor including the postage. Saved me £44
 10.
Someone probably read your OP and thought 'I'll have that, thank you very much' I'm 'semi' kidding, but it's always a risk when you ask a question on an open forum like this as there are likely to be an awful lot of folk that are quite prepared to dive in if the opportunity arises. In fact they may never actually post... just sit and watch
It's back on now - It definitely wasn't showing this morning though - however, Friday AM is EBay's administration time and things often go awry!
 11.
Yea, i'm interested in that one on Ebay too. Have always been intrigued by them, they look awesome. They are indeed mega heavy though. Theres one in Rikaxxe in Bristol but he wants loads for it I think.
What happened to the EBay listing? I spotted it the other day & it had a few days to run but it seems to have disappeared!
 12. I've never seen one of these in the flesh but think they look kinda cool: I'm sure they weigh a ton but would love to hear how one sounds!
 13.
One man's heaven is another man's hell...
Vaguely similar to a recent gig where I used fairly expensive Ashdown gear. Coming from a Euphonic set up it sounded dead and woolly to my ears & lacking any drive to another player who uses an Ampeg. However the guy who owns the rig absolutely loves it! I have a Fafner which I really like but also fooling around with a 20 year old SVT which has a rather seductive sound. I must admit that using the Fafner through just my 2x10 it is very bright and I have to cut the high end but with the 2x12 (or both) it sounds great to my ears.
 14.
I agree
In fact it's so nice I've decided to keep it! Been playing it off and on all afternoon & decided to hang on to it after all
 15.
That's a great bass at a great price !
I agree
 16. The Flailing Pits are a fun alternative if you want someone who plays more modern stuff. Maybe not as polished as the typical wedding band but might be waht your friend is after. I think they have vids on YouTube as well now. Based on their MySpace page their 'influences' are: Stone Roses, Charlatans, Flaming Lips, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Van Halen, Happy Mondays, James, Foo Fighters, The Cars, Razorlight, Rolling Stones, New Order, Verve, Hard Fi, Kaiser Chiefs, The Smiths, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Jet, the Who, The Jam, the Darkness, Inspiral Carpets, the Cult, Kula Shaka, Hard-Fi, Cream, Bros I know their guitarist and he's a very nice chap indeed! Pm me for details if you're interested
 17. Price reduced
 18.
The 44-02 is a Skyline, the 55-94 is a USA. Different animals. But I'd say around £1250 - 1500 would be right for a used USA 55-94 depending on condition, finish etc. Detailed explanation of skylive vs. USA here http://www.lakland.com/skyline_vs_us.htm Best comparison for prices is this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lakland-55-94-bass-g...p3286.m63.l1177 Hope this helps.
Oops - sorry about that. I spotted a "USA" mention in the text of the EBay listing but didn't look closely enough - it was saying that the Skyline had the same pickups as a USA model not that it was made in USA
 19. There's a 44-02 on EvilBay with a buy it now tag at £1,099. 5th string has to add a bit on top of course
 20.
Bloody hell Nick! You're taking a hit on this one. How did you get it £100 cheaper than mine? (Although I realise my 3TS finish is an extra £70!) Is the Shuker that good?
Based on a Google shopping price, some dealers are listing the standard colours at £750 now and sunbursts at £800. In this market definitely possible to haggle a little as well.
 21.
Bumping - sorry but no longer open to trades. I have a Precision now... Oh and price reduced by £200.
Just checking - price is now £700? How's the neck balance? I have a headless Zon which is perfect but I've often thought traditional Zon heads look quite bulky and might make them a bit neck heavy?
 22.
Well, he was re-lacquering the neck so I guess he had to.. Also, Chris McIntyre was the main luthier at The Gallery for a number of years and would have made this bass when he worked there.. So I just went with the re-badge y'know..
Really nice looking bass but I'm not sure about re-badging something because of a refinish to the neck lacquer. Sei basses have a fairly long pedigree and this helps with the value etc. An example of this is that you've listed this as "Sei Bass" and not as a "McIntyre". I'm not having a dig at you for this, just a bit surprised that Chris would have wanted to re-badge really.
 23. Think I'm gonna keep one of these for home practice but should really sell one as well. Not fussed which one I keep but will drop prices by £25 to see if that helps. Newer one at £450 Older one at £400 Both in excellent condition
 24.
It was indeed
Ah ha, I was there with my ever sufferin' wife - poor thing didn't know what she was letting herself in for
 25. Over £600 now
