My board has gone through a lot of changes recently. I'm really happy with the current set up. It rocks. My house is a GAS free zone, for the time being anyhow! I recently had a switch go on my fx loop pedal, it was doing the same as yours is. I ordered a new one, took a photo of the old one still wired up, and used that photo as a guide to solder in the new one. It wasn't a hard job and it's as good as new now.

It took me a long time to get that bass line down, and even now when I play it, my fingers are tired at the end. On a gig recently the singer called for a second guitar solo, so by the time we eventually finished the song my hands were mullered. Cracking part though. Keep practising, you'll get there in the end and it'll all be worth it.

Find some music shops near you and try some basses out. You'll soon know first hand what you like and what you don't.

I doubt that your drummer will be sweating cos he doesn't have the same kit, skins & sticks as Extremes drummer. He's going to bring what he uses every gig. Sure, you can tweak your tone a bit, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. The guitarists on the other hand will need to nail their sounds.....

I do it. I play mainly in one function band, but I'm also in four others that are less busy, and I do a fair few deps. It's taken a while to get where I am and I love it. Add in a few pub gigs a month and between the lot it's just about a living. And I get to spend most weekdays writing & recording originals. The only luxuries I now buy are bass related, the fiendish crack habit and high class hookers had to stop.

It's a no for me, unless it lights up and flashes. Then it'd be a yes.

After having tried quite a few filters I just got an MXR M82 and I have to say I just love it. Having the dry control really helps. And running my Grand Tarkin into it is amazing too. I wish I'd got one years ago.

A few years ago a drummer I've been playing with for years, and I, came home from a great gig. Straight round to his place for too many beers and the obligatory post gig wind down, talking about the gig and music in general. Eventually we got round to talking about our playing. I told him I thought he was the stronger player of the two of us, and I sometimes felt like I was just trying to keep up. His reply was the same, except he though I was the stronger, and he was the one who was trying to keep up! After a lengthy chat about each others playing, we both came away from that night with a clear understanding of our many strengths, and weaknesses, but more importantly we realised we weren't bad players. We'd been around for a while and we finally felt like we weren't beginners any more, we'd sort of paid our dues, so to speak. We certainly didn't get cocky about ourselves as musicians, but from that moment we had more inner confidence. Since then we both approached our playing a lot more relaxed and have been thoroughly enjoying what we do ever since. We still push ourselves to be better players of course. More practise, more gigs, it all counts. We are all students of music and life. That's a journey that never ends. And when I do make a mistake on a gig I still think to myself 'what the f*ck did I do that for?', I'll look around to see which band menber is laughing at me, then I forget it and get on with the playing, that's why I'm there after all, to have fun.

I want more clarification as to exactly which kind of farts are supposed to be beneficial to good health. Mine, in my opinion, are probably in that group. Although I kmow a few drummers that might disagree, but that's another story. I've been sniffing farts for years and this hasn't caused any long term effects. But my lovely Rottweiler, Gracie, has the ability to produce smells capable of making your eyeballs melt. It's the sensory experience equivalent of being tazed. Thankfully it's mainly dried food with chicken in that does this to her, so she doesn't get that a lot. Those farts are definitely not good for your heath. Don't believe everything you read on the interweb.

I think I'm going to miss this. I'm gigging tomorrow night in Kent and I've just been told it's an earlier set up now. I'll see if I can squeeze in an hour or so but it doesn't look too promising at the mo

That's a lovely looking board. I can't believe I'm the first one asking, but, how much would one cost?

As much as I hate limiters, I have to deal with them quite regularly. My band loves to play at a decent volume, but when faced with one of these we find the limit of the limiter in soundcheck, back off a tad, and here's the clever bit - we stay at that volume for the rest of the gig! I admit, playing quietly sucks, but we are proof that it can be done. No resetting the limiter and looking stupid. I know plenty of so called 'pros' who just can't play quietly when neccessary. They drive me nuts. It isn't hard, and the band can actually swing at lower volume levels too, and less feedback issues to boot.
