I'd say gated fuzz blended with clean. Probably compressed too.

Anybody fancy trying out a new musical instrument this year?

Can you explain how you're supposed to mic one up at a gig? -
I just got my new knobs. The orange ones are a little lighter that I'd like, but they'll do fine for now. I'm happy with the look though. Clean blend is the only thing that Fuzzrocious pedals are missing, IMO. Hopefully a decent You Tube review will be up sometime soon...

I used to use one of these, they're great. http://www.standback.net
You can find Red ones at Dr Tweeks website, but I only found Blue ones at Banzai in Germany. There's a few on eBay, but cheaper at Banzai, so just waited until I needed some other parts
My LEDs are red & green and I've just ordered matching knobs. They'll look great. Thanks for the info
Nice board Alex, and good to see that little looper pedal on there! Hope it's doing its job well :-)
Thanks, It's been fun putting it together and it sounds killer too! The looper just has the 2 octaves in it at the mo. I'm waiting on a twin parallel blender coming from COG, but that little one is just so handy, I'll always use it somewhere.

I've got a rehearsal with an electronica project coming up this week, so I've put all of my favourite pedals onto my large board. I'm waiting on some new stuff coming very soon from Cog Effects too, so this layout will change a bit when they arrive. In the mean time, lots of noise to be made with this lot....
Decided to change up the knobs on 66 #1, just to match the channel controls to the LED colours....helps quick changes on stage when I can't remember which is which lol.
Those knobs look great. Where did you get them from?

That's good to know. I've got a TK with the extra HPF on the way too. If I remember from the website the chip is socketed isn't it, for easy swapping? I can't wait to hear it. I'm expecting delivery very soon.

I just bought a pedal from Gaz. It was really well packed and delivered in a couple of days too. Nice one Gaz, Thanks again.

It's about time somebody gave us lots of size choices. Great.

I've gone down the George L's route. And I buy all the plugs, straight and right angled, used on here. The cable is cheap enough to buy online a couple of metres at a time. One tip when using this type of connector is to check each cable is working ok right after you make it. The first time I wired up my whole board only to find that I had no signal going to my amp. I had to pull the whole board apart and test every cable. Sods law, the second to last one I tested was the culprit. The only down side to George L's are that the right anged connectors stick out by 17mm, which is fine on pedals with north mounted jacks, but they add quite a bit of width to a pedal with side mounted jacks. For these pedals I sometimes use those low profile mushroom patch cables to save space.

Would this be classed as a Rickenbacker copy?
Proabably sounds better than a Rickenbacker
Lol. And I freely excercise my constitutional right not to wear my trousers. -
You can't assign every parameter to the control pedal unfortunately, but they give you enough to have lots of fun. To see what's available, press the TOTAL button. In the right hand window, and in the CTRL PDL tab, scroll the left knob to see what's available. What these parameters are depends on what effects you have in each slot. And you can only have one parameter selected for each bank of 3 effects. But you can always copy the bank to a new memory slot, then assign a different footswitch parameter. Simples! Have fun.

As I own a yellow label my experience is limited to that earlier model. But I've read plenty about the brown label not being in the same league. The newer builds may well still be a good compressor, with its ticking faults long since cured by BBE, but the yellow labels are the sought after ones, in my experience. You'd have to get a brown label owner to give an opinion too I guess, but it's going to be hard for you to decide which to get unless you can A/B them side by side which may prove difficult. For £50-£60 I'd take a punt on one and make your own mind up. If it works for you you'll have a great compressor!

I've had mine for a few years now. I use it for a hint of compression, just to tighten up my tone a tad. It's a very transparent compressor. It works wonders on my P bass tone. There are pedals out there with lots more controls and they all have their selling points, but this one only has comp, volume and a 0/-15dB switch. For subtle yet effective old school kind of compression it's the business. If your going to buy one don't get the newer brown label 'moustache' version, it's not that good. The one you want is the earlier yellow label version. They usually go for about £60 second hand here on BC. From what you're saying you want from a compressor an Opto Stomp should do the job for you. If you want to read lots of good compressor reviews, including the Opto Stomp, check out www.ovnilab.com. And keep your eyes open in the classifieds.

Another option to look at is a blender that has separate wet & dry level controls, instead of a blend control.
-
Yes, you'll need a TRS jack on your exp pedal. I have a Roland EV-5. It is made of plastic but it's lasted me years and still going strong. I can't comment on other pedals as I've just not had to use any others so far. You'll love using an exp pedal with the B3, for changing wet/dry blends, gain levels, octave levels, chorus levels - it's great fun.

Which of these would you choose?

I'm a full time player and my gigging bass is a Squire PJ with Quarter Pounder pick ups. It plays like a dream and in the tone department it spanks most Fenders I've tried. You don't have to spend stupid money to get a cracking instrument. And ffs don't 'fess up!! -

I'd have to say my COG Knightfall66 (because it the mutts) and my Zoom MS60B (because it's so versatile).
-
The Tarkins are Big Muff based, and the TK-421s are Rat based. That's as much as I know.

I don't miss any of my big old heavy gear. Apart from the weight issue, in comparison with what I have now it all sounded rubbish. That's the clincher for me.
