I just bought a pedal from Adam. Absolutely recommended, another hassle free BC purchase. Thanks Adam.

I just sorted Cliff out with an amp bag. A nice guy and easy to deal with. Definitely recommended.

A big thanks to Mick & Chris for all their efforts putting the bash together. We do appreciate it. And also to everyone else who contributed with talks, photos and raffle prizes, gear etc. I loved the fretboard shootout - it was great to hear different woods side by side, and I was surprised that the result was so one sided (but the rosewood did sound better ). And in typical Ratman style, I came home with 2 more pedals. I mean, it's not like I have enough around here already! I nabbed an LS-2 off Happy Jack and I won a EHX Clone Theory in the raffle. Nice. It was great to meet a few more of you too. Nice folks one and all.

I just bought a tuner from Austin. Another easy & smooth transaction here on BC. Quick delivery too, considering he was in the middle of a house move at the time. Thanks Austin.

I just put a mate in touch with Mark to buy a Markbass combo. The deal was done super quick and my mate is a happy man. Thanks very much Mark.

I bought a PA system from Pete. He was more than helpful throughout the transaction, I can't rate him highly enough. Top fellow. Thanks Pete.

Thanks guys. I was pretty sure I would be making a good choice with the 1608 and your replies have confirmed that. The feature list really is off the scale for the price.

I bought a strap from Ian. Another easy BC transaction, no hassle and quick delivery. Thanks Ian.

advise for someone wanting to get into dep gigging
ratman replied to karlplaysbass's topic in General Discussion
With age comes experience, so in some ways, yes. I do a lot of depping and in my experience it's ALL about who you know. So, get into a function band (if that's what you want to do) and over time you'll meet their deps. If those deps like you they may ask you to play with their bands here and there. Then you meet more musicians, and it will snowball into (hopefully) lots of work. It isn't easy starting out but stick with it, it takes time to build up. -
I just bought an amp from Vic. He's been a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Another top BCer, absolutely recommended. Thanks Vic

Yes, the new Master Fader app is a huge improvement on the old version. And the My Fader app is now compatible, about time. The reverb does seem to be one of the few minor niggles. And as soon as Mackie make recordings instantly playable on the iPad, I think they'll have pretty much nailed it.

I had the 'pleasure' of going to Alaska Studios near Waterloo recently. The first thing that hits you as you walk in is the smell of damp. The studios were pretty bad. Small stuffy rooms, old gear, crap mics and stands. And at the end of the night the 4 hour session cost over £70! I'll never go there again. I have been going to The Premesis on Hackney Road a lot with a different band. That place is a whole different experience. Loads of rooms of varying sizes, split over 3 floors, and there's even a lift. It's very clean and all their PA and rentable gear is top notch. And it's not much more expensive than a lot of the dives around. The only bummer is parking there, but I guess a lot of London rehearsal rooms have that problem these days.

I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on a DL1608, and I'm wondering if any BCers use a DL series mixer and would share their opinions.

How do you store/transport your cables/leads?
ratman replied to Mornats's topic in Accessories and Misc
I've been using re-useable cable ties for years. I love 'em. Look after your leads & cables and they'll last a lot longer. -
