1. Look down this thread for JonCaulfield72 and Cardiff. He is an AWESOME teacher, what Jon can't do on a bass isn't worth knowing! He has fabulous skills. I really look forward to my lessons with him and always feel inspired and fired up to be a better bassist.
2. I quite like the moss green in the 3rd post, second section, 2nd from the left. Unusual!
3.
check this page out it helped me when learning it. if you scroll to the bottom of the page there is a chord chart of the form which may be helpful http://www.jazzguitar.be/jaco_pastorius_the_chicken.html
Thanks
4. Thanks for the laugh Dingus
5. Thats great news Gives you such a boost! We had a lull of 2 months in my band where we had lost a singer and a guitarist, but now we are up and running again, and I am a happy cheery bassist again, so I can truly appreciate your excitement Hope it goes well.
6. I suppose I am one of the lucky ones..... I have my bass, hubby has his photography..... I don't bat an eyelid when he buys a new lens, or a new flashgun, and he doesn't bat an eyelid when I buy stuff too. We have a deal, we share the bills in a joint bank account, but our wages go into personal accounts, so we buy what we want with whats left. Neither of us smoke, we rarely go out on big nights out, we don't have children, so we have money we can have fun with. He bought an expensive flashgun earlier in the month.... I'm considering an effects pedal board My hubby rocks! His only complaint has been that there is no space for my amp and cabs (they are living in the hallway!), I mean most of his photography equipment is smaller than my bass stuff
7. Potential traffic update 2! Had a lesson with Mr Ace last night, he said that there is a Wales v Argentina rugby game in Cardiff that day. Kick off is 2.30pm so hopefully won't affect us, but thought I'd mention it in case
8.
awesome nailed the soul intro to the chicken by jaco, did section rehearsals for LCM big band which i'm really enjoying, bought some pa speakers for a really good price and worked on a trade for a very nice new rig all told today has been an exceptional day
Cool 8) I love the Chicken, great piece of music. Can't play it myself.... Can play bits, but find it sooooo hard to keep up!
9. Had a super cool lesson tonight, filled me with more work and tons of enthusiasm for the next few weeks
10.
Jon got link :-) sounds great
Woo Hoo.... Hello Mr Ace I'll be there, excited about a bass bash now
11.
I'd hope to attend. On Sunday, Mr Ace mentioned that he might be up for it if he is asked. Last time I think he was in the frame for one but no one had asked him in fact :-0. He'll need more eggs though Deb lol. Can't do 4 th Nov as its my exam, nor 23/24 as I've got something far better to go to..a stag weekend :-)
Yey, I'm so glad we have a date Will take Mr Ace some eggs tomorrow when I have my lesson and tell him he needs to keep the date free I panicked initially as we have a weekend away booked in Nov, but thankfully it's the weekend after! Deb - shall we travel together?
12. Brilliant great song, and great look. Nige, having never met you only "knowing" you from your posts it was nice to see you How do you find playing with gloves on? Not something I'd think Id ever do, but I love the all black look and LOVE the hat. *Debs pinches hat idea*
13.
I had an email today from my son's drum teacher saying his mate is looking for a bassist and thinks I'd be a good fit. He must be desperate. I took my bass along to a drum lesson and played a grade 3 piece with him. Not sure if I've got the necessary experience and bottle but I've got the gear so I might have a go even if I start off playing root notes or something. Dunno. I want to get into a band at some stage but maybe after just 9 months playing its a tad optimistic?
You'd be fine As you know, I joined my band after 2 months.... Now THAT was a tad optimistic but it has made me a more focused player!! Mr Ace will help you with any songs you are struggling with. I have started pulling faces at songs whose basslines are suited to mainly root notes now!!
14. A new singer is joining our band, and suggested Dear Prudence as a track... So have been learning the bassline... But mostly I am feeling happy that the band is getting back on track, although scared that it may all fall apart again. I'm at my most motivated playing wise when there is band stuff in the offing.
15. Cranes are helpful, and if they can't do it they will be able to point you in the right direction. If you can travel as far as Neath, then the guys in Neath music are fab and are bassists themselves.
16. Joys of being a girl... With a husband... And a bossy nature
17. I have to say, questionable appearance aside, I think he rocks. I dream of being able to play slap bass like that!
18. Count me in
19.
Thanks! I'll give you a shout if we play Cheltenham way
I LOVED your video too, you guys are awesome
20. So glad it went well
21. Once a fortnight I go... its works well, as gives me time to work on what I have been given. I LOVE my lessons and really look forward to going.
22.
Mr Ace :-)
He is Mr Ace
23.
I absolutely loved that.
^ This
24. I've found this quite sad to read. Betraying a friend due to their weight is really sh*t. You are better off without them.
