1. If a seller's asking too much, they may get more realistic offers from a potential buyer and possibly realise they misjudged the original price. However if other with no interest in buying the item, but know (or think they know) the price of everything so reckon the asking price is too high, they should keep it to themselves. The seller will eventually realise that asking too much was a waste TIM.
2. It looks like it has a tight radius on the fingerboard which is carried over to those lovely chunky pickups, so I wonder whether is has some kind of eub capability - or is maybe designed to be bowable. I love the Bo Diddley / ZZ Top vibe it has
3. I don't think I've ever played a well set up bass in a shop. I can usually tell whether a bass will be to my liking once I have set it up though.
4. Think some people may have voted with their numb left hands
5.
Honestly, that wasn't me who negged you.
hey no worries Rhys - I would have negged me for that, so you showed great restraint Perhaps everyone could neg this post so that I can neg everyone back with a clear conscience.
6.
You nasty f***er!
I was feeling guilty, so I voted up one of your previous posts & then I see you've taken your revenge already. This could get messy.
7. Sorry Rhys - nothing personal, couldn't resist voting that one down
8. Good point snicks. The simple 'like' option seemed to be good for people who would have responded to a post they agreed with by posing a quote followed by +1 without any new content to add. Keeping a total score for someone's account and rating the person, not their individual posts does seem less useful and possible counter-productive.
9. BC members should be allowed to like their own posts as long as they click using their left hand after making it numb by sitting on it.
10. I 'liked' the previous like system, but I thought it was about liking a post, not the person posting it. I might disagree with someone - for example on a flatwound/woundwound, slapping/non-slapping or pick/fingers discussion, but that doesn't mean I think any less of the person. When the 'like' option was replaced with the up/down arrows I thought it was a step backwards - especially if it keeps running total across all posts
11. Here's my mini rig
12. The keyboard player is not defining what problem he's trying to solve by suggesting that a totally different right hand technique is used. He could say "I think it needs more definition" or "More treble" or "don't do any right hand muting. Its like when a website designer shows a mockup and the client says something like "make the buttons blue" - why do they think they need the buttons blue? Is it to make them stand out more? Make them fit in with the colour scheme of a parent company's website? He's a Chelsea supporter? Or fan of the boyband ''blue? By communicating what result he hopes to achieve by suggesting a pick is used, there could be alternative and better solutions. For example if the problem is that the bass is not cutting through the mush, a better solution might be for the guitar &/or keys to adjust their sounds make a bit of space in the midrange for the bass's mids.
13. If a keyboard player suggested I use a pick I'd suggest he wore mittens. Blummin' cheek. Tell him to 'eff off.
14. She was with me when I sold my flying V in Croydon & bought my MIJ tele thinline in Pimlico on the same day, so that was proudly on display - as was the 'empty' case.
15.
What is your very best hiding place?
stashing the danelectro longhorn in a telecaster guitar case in plain sight was pretty good. It even felt empty as the bass is so light
16. I really fancy a VM Jag SS, but I've already got basses hidden everywhere I can hide a bass & the missus would definitely notice a new candy-apple red one.
17. There were a lot of 'Made in China' Bodies, Necks & basses which appeared to be off the same production line as SX & Jim Deacons being sold as New-old-stock Canadian 'Signature' products a while ago by an ebay seller who span a yarn about clearing out a factory or some such nonsense. Some kind of scammery appeared to be going on.
18. I bet a roasted graphite neck would be even better
19. I'd probably go if there was a rule that anyone caught making that gawdawful thwakkitta sound is punched in the face & thrown out. Otherwise I won't bother. edit: spelt thwakkitta incorrectly - its still probably incorrect but you know what I mean
20. I've been thinking about changing the spark plugs in my mustang, so maybe I'll have to get hold of this book. Hopefully it'll be able to clear up my confusion over whether bass spark plugs are any different to guitar ones or if they are they are interchangable.
21. Any idea why there are two versions with different covers? Is one better than the other?
22. What about the other Dave D?
23.
That bass looks great!
Cheers - it sounds as good as it looks and is fun to play. The neck has a bit of birdseye in the grain which looks cool and the ebony board is beautiful. It's the only bass I've taken to a jam night & received compliments about my bass & playing. Maybe there's something about an unlined fretless that makes people think you know what you're doing.
24. I don't think the japanese fender-style bodies and necks were part of the eko stock. I have no idea where he got them from, but then again I don't know where my local tesco get their cauliflowers from either. I took a trip to the warehouse at Wembley and picked out the bits I wanted.
25. This is my fretless precision - I think it cost me about £450ish to put together all-in including Fender, hipshot & Kent Armstrong bits. The Brandoni body is practically identical to the one on my 1990 MIJ '62 reissue Fender. i don't have a pic of the tele and I can't take a pic as my mate likes it so much, he's had it on loan for about a year - that one was made from the stock £200 bundle sold as a build-your own kit.
