2. Anything over 25 years old is considered vintage.
 3.
What guage would people recommend?
It depends
 4. Am I the only one who saw the thread title & thought of this: (NSFW!)
 5. I can't recall ever seeing MIM jazzes in that colour but I've seen Squiers in that shade of metallic blue. The one I played came with domed precision-type knobs as standard, so that *might* explain the weird knobs on it. The pics aren't good enough for me to say any much than that.
 6.
Look at the picture of the date on the heel. Maybe it's my eyes but is the raduis of the fretboard not look a little off centre?
I noticed that. Also the skunk stripe looks a bit pist on the pic of the heel.
 7.
Here we have an original Pre-CBS 1964 Fender Jazz Bass Neck.
Original?
Looks like the headstock had some parts of it replaced.
No 'Looks like' about it - it has. Perhaps the logo part was sawn off to go onto a new neck which replaced this broken one.
Don't know if it's the orginal nut?
I bet he does know & it isn't or he wouldn't have mentioned it
I don't know if the trussrod turns
I bet he does know & it doesn't or he wouldn't have mentioned it
Don't know if deadspots or buzzing?
I bet he does know & it does or he wouldn't have mentioned it
I can say that out of all the necks I've ever played over the years this is the best sounding neck I've ever owned.
I can say I'm the Emporer of the Universe, but it doesn't make it true
As this is a vintage neck please no returns and being sold as is.
I wouldn't want this piece of crap coming back either Someone with more money than sense has got themselves an ugly ornament.
 8.
Why dont shops ask people to put on a dressing gown when they want to play something highly expensive for instance
Simples!
 9. are wunjo still trying to pass off a squier bronco bass with a broken & crudely glued musicmaster neck as an original '71 musicmaster like they were last time I was in there?
 10. Its a cool rig and I want one. the bloke demoing seems to be talking a load of old bollocks as if its been soaked in snake oil. My modern lightweight rig sounds just as good to me and weighs much less - it doesn't look as cool though. I already have all the tubbiness I need. Didn't Jamerson normally DI into the desk?
 11.
Does anyone know if all Japanese precision necks has PB stamped on them????
The ones made by Paddington Bear certainly did as he was always proud of his handiwork when he was sent to Fender Japan on work experience. The marmalade did tend to stain the lacquer though.
 12. The Jazz with two single coils & the precison with a single split p/u (or a PJ) are so iconic that these just look wrong. I'd rather look at what Squier are doing (currently trying to work out how to buy a candy red jaguar shortscale without the missus noticing)
 13. Yep - I have Kent Armstrong 'Jazz Lipsticks' in my Highway 1 and an Alinco P in my fretless bitzer - great pickups at good prices. I believe the pickup wizard learned his trade working for KA.
 14.
And how about this for speaker cable? Speaker Cable
Bollocks! I hit the buy it now by mistake
 15. neither - the most important bit is the cable connecting them
 16. I own, have owned and have played through in no particular order: Trace Elliot, Ashdown, MarkBass, Crate and Ohm, Marshall, Peavey, Ampeg, Behringer and probably several amps. I have never had any trouble getting a good sound as long as I start with everything flat, and then either tweak what needs tweaking or leave it alone. However I have also see people twiddling the same amp and getting a crap sound by not setting input & output volume correctly, pressing pre-shape buttons & adjusting the graphic eq into smiley face.
 17.
What about the H&S issues here. You should have warned people that they "may contain nuts". Can't be too careful.
Nah - not a problem. They are for ornamental use only.
 18. Another good pedal for making a bass sound more open & acousticy is the Behringer ADI21 brown 'acoustic' preamp. I use it with both an NS-Design CR5M & Ashbory. The Ashbory is better for portability (obviously) and sounds wonderful. The Pahoehoe (Kala) polyurethene strings are 100x better than the rubberjohnnie ones, but being so weenie and fretless intonation can a hit & miss. I'd swap my ashbory for a fretted Kala in an instant if I could. The NS upright is a much more physical experience to play and looks great on stage, but its strength is that it offers something unique rather than trying to be a louder doublebass or a bigger bass guitar stood on its end. It can cut through in a two guitar band and the B string is the best B sounding string of any bass I've heard (at 42" scale length helps!)
 19.
Are you sure they were not once chocolate covered peanuts ? if they were, that means that they've been re-finned,and so are worth less than original.
I could have them refinished in something that looks very much like chocolate if you like.
 20. No idea what it sounds like as it needs some weird plugin I've never heard of & don't trust to view the video. What about that fugly headstock though? - it looks like a club foot
 21. Never happened to me - its hard to lose your place when everything's Rt-5th-Rt-5th
 22.
Got this from GUITAR TIPS site Remove some but not all of the tension from the strings, clean & polish the guitar, and then put a little lemon oil on the fret board. Put the guitar in its case and store it where it won't get too warm, cold, or humid and won't get bumped around. A good place is an interior closet.
Sounds like a guitar tips article written by someone who doesn't understand what a truss rod does. Glad there's no permanent damage.
