1. Got some gotohs with a smaller plate. and a US fender pickup and a 70s logo. Just going to send it to my friend to put together.
2.
Ghost in the machine is probably my favourite Police album. I missed out on them at the time (only 6 when they split up), but got introduced to them via my uncle and my 1 brother. We used to have a great video filmed while they were recording the album, I don't think it's available on DVD though.
If that's the monserrat video, I'm sure it's available. I'm sure someone lent me a copy some time ago.
3. no taxes no. On the package he listed it at $20. Very pleased
4. https://www.youtube....player_embedded AC/DC drummer and Pino on the bass Can't work out how to embed the video
5. Fretless neck has turned up. It's very good. Lovely grain and a great finish. Dots are in the wrong place but that can be sorted. Here's a picture so far. It's a Bravewood body
6. I've got an XL2 with a plug in leg rest. 1983 I think. Fantastic bass guitar. In fact I'll take it to my Police tribute gig this afternoon. If I had the money that L2 would be mine. GLWTS
7. My order has been shipped. It's quite exciting. I'll have to start sourcing the rest of the parts.I've got the original bridge from my '75 P bass and some 70's P bass pickups that need a rewind. And I'll need a 70's logo for the headstock
8. the thing with custom world guitar parts is the dots are in the wrong place on the side.
9. Has anyone used this company for any builds that they have done. Any feedback would be appreciated www.eyguitarmusic.com They sell a maple boarded Fretless P bass neck. And it's cheap so might just take the plunge anyway cheers
10. Found out yesterday that the legend 'Eric Snowball' has passed away. His shop had been around since the 60s and nearly everyone I know has bought gear from him. Notorious in the trade, great sense of humour. RIP Eric
11.
I Put Wilkinsons in my sons P bass and think they sound quite vintage but I did prefer my MIM pickup thinking about it you may want a pup that is a touch hotter as being a fretless and if you use flats the output of the bass would be slightly lower
I've never had a mexican bass so I have no idea how they sound. There is always mex p/ups on ebay. My main 'Sting' fretless is a 70s Japan only reissue. It's very heavy but does sound good. I think it probably has US pickups on it but I've never had a look
12.
Toneriders are really good but maybe to "Modern" sounding for your Police Gig I would try the Entwhistle PBN that has a more vintage vibe ans is about 15 bangers
yes, I've seen the entwhistles too. I have some wilkinsons in my geoff whitehorn guitar which are also very good.
13. cool, thanks for that. any good but reasonably priced pickup ideas? The Toneriders perhaps? Anyone with any experience. Their guitar pickups seem good
14. Never actually put anything together from scratch so I am wondering about pickups. My idea behind this bass is to have a quality but inexpensive bass guitar, for touring, but it still must look right for my tribute. So, a standard P bass pickup doesn't come with the brass plate underneath. (some of the Fender pickups do but they're too expensive for this project) Do I need to have the brass plate? What does it do? your thoughts o wise bass chatters Mart

16. I have a replica with a fender logo. All part of the fact its a replica. If you don't like it you'll have to get over it I'm afraid.
17. Karl, if it's carpel tunnel, get it fixed. My old guitarist suffered for years and then had it operated on and fixed. Both hands too.
18.
Small world isn't it
yep. do we know each other too then?
