Guys, I do appreciate all your replies and on balance I am happy with my reaction. Those of you with difficult band mates do seem to understand how I feel, yet those of you that think I am wrong, well we best not form a band together

communication is the key. The rthymn guitarist never answers my texts but usually if he has a problem, he organises a dep.

I only give gigs when they are confirmed. It was confirmed. The landlord was buzzing about it, because the band played his 18th birthday some 28 years ago!!

If I decided I couldn't do a gig and let everyone down, he wouldn't like it. Personally I'm glad he's left. Every time I call a song, he whinges about it etc. I think, actually, that he was maybe looking for an excuse to leave.

It is very harsh, BUT, in all my time in bands (over 30 years now), I put a date in the diary and it is IN the diary. if I detect an anomaly, such as 'not on the website' I flag it up and check with someone. I organise this band because the previous incumbent passed away two years ago. He told me the drummer was an absolute nightmare, in this regard and he has proved to be right. I won't apologize because, apart from my use of the F word, he has let me down again. I have the gig covered. It's a shame because he is actually a very good drummer (even though he doesn't really listen to the bass) and a lovely bloke.

'See you all next Saturday at the Railway Bell' I said to the boys as we were about to leave our gig last Saturday. 'Our next gig is in November' says the drummer. 'No it's Saturday' I say. He gets his phone out and shows me the website. I've forgotten to put it on the website. 'Oh F&&k it, I'll cancel it, sorry boys it looks like it's my fault' I said even though I know when I booked it I had notified everybody. Anyway, I checked it all out in the morning and sure enough, on our Facebook messenger chat page, I had announced it in April and was greeted by the 'thumbs up' by the drummer. This is not the first time he has messed up his diary. He's 30, has a degree in music and is head of maths, where he teaches. I was less than polite about it, because I have better things to do than constantly change things, arrange deps . back in 1990, I was shopping with my brother (guitarist in my band) for a Pink Jackson. Guitar purchased, much chat and he has a go on a bass that I'd just bought elsewhere. He was left handed but just flipped it over and started slapping. Turned out to be Lee Pomeroy!! Lovely chap, working in Rockbotton at the time

I have a natural ash, fretless maple board PB70 (like Sting) and my wife has a R/W Oly white PB70. Both neck shapes are a bit different. The R/W being closest to my 73 but a tad shallower. Great basses both with USA p/ups

to be honest I've only done a couple of blues gigs with it. I didn't notice anything was unbalanced. I don't normally play short scale either but I did like the sound I was getting. There was a thickness to the tone but still some definition. I was planning on taking it out again at the end of the month

They are the only strings I've had so I don't have any experience with any others. The original rounds that it came with went in the bin.
