  1. yes it does make it a bit louder but I've never had any success with compression so I don't know any difference
  2. Finally I can announce the arrival of my new amp. After a false start last week, (it had a fault) and unbelievable customer service from Ashdown themselves (the shop I bought it from didn't have any to exchange) It turned up today. Ashdown actually sent me the replacement BEFORE they had received the faulty one back. Anyway, what a great amp. I dialled in my sound in about 30 seconds. Bass up to 3 o'clock, mid to 9 o.clock and treble up to 2 o'clock. The compressor is actually brilliant I think. It adds some thickness and evens out the slight string imbalance on my Fender Flea bass. The drive circuit adds that little bit of fuzz to the sound. I'll probably use a little live. It's not often I change bass amps but my last change was 6 1/2 years ago to ampeg and I loved it but I wanted to play British. (I know it's made in China but it's still an Ashdown) First gigs are next week, one with my Police tribute and one with my pub rock band
  3. I havent tried them yet. but I will and will let you know
  4. Yes great work mate. Sorry to learn about your father-in-law and mum. Bring on 2019
  5. Yes you did, I should have re-read it lol I would do a New Amp day thread but unfortunately it is faulty and being returned for a new one. Sounds mighty fine when working properly though
  6. Love shine the light was good too Not sure about Sun Street hey, a few beers, it should be fun
  7. oh well, I'm off to see Katrina (she, of The Waves) on Friday. A small theatre, walking (on sunshine) distance from my house
  8. I've actually found the email announcing that the show was cancelled IN MY JUNK FOLDER ArseBiscuits
  9. I still haven't received my amp but the courier didn't have all the address it needed and then I was away. (it should be waiting for me today) But I found out Ashdown had their own black Friday event and it was a free gift if you bought either one thing or another. Turns out I qualified for a free set of their Bluetooth in ear meters buds, worth about 90 quid Nice work Ashdown
  10. Antwerp and Amsterdam due to logistics apparently. I booked for Antwerp ( it's actually easier for me because I live near the channel Tunnel) I re-downloaded my tickets on the day before the gig and drove to Antwerp. Found where I was staying and thought we would trot up to the venue, scope it out, then dinner. Got to the venue and nothing. Not even a sign saying cancelled. It had been cancelled 3 days before. Maybe I should have checked. Maybe and more importantly, the ticket sales/venue etc should have emailed me that it was off. After all they confirmed it by email. Still had a wonderful curry in the town centre and met some great people where we were staying. Boy George you can stick it mate
  11. my ampeg isn't exactly heavy but I'm looking forward to even less weight
  12. it arrives on Monday but I don't have a gig till dec 14th. would you believe it's my Christmas present from my mother in law (well she gave the money lol)
  13. So I pulled the trigger. I am about to leave my pub band and it only leaves me to do Police gigs which won't be very many but I just fancied this new Ashdown as a change from my Ampeg PF-500 Hopefully I'll love it
  14. rock it baby seriously, good luck fingers crossed
  15. +1 for mcmillan 12 step with the midi expander thing. I have mine linked to a Moog Minitaur
  16. 4 I can sing, harmonize and front. (I am very lucky with this and it has taken me years to be totally comfortable with my singing) Some of the best bands are like this. My guitar player in my Police tribute also fronts a Jam tribute. When we play together as a pub band it is so easy. No egos, sharing lead vocals and excellent harmonies. I'd love to play more but we live too far apart to make an easy pub band
  17. if I could slap, I would say it's very slappable
  18. Yes mate, it is your old one. I've just taken some more pictures for an interested party and it does play lovely.
  19. Putting my old Status up for grabs as I just don't get the time to play it Made in 1985 with a bubinga front and lacewood back. Good all round condition with a few dings and dents as to be expected. It has the original flight case but I'm currently cutting some new foam for it It has the GMT branded pickups (helps date it) Plays lovely, strung 40-100 with new status hotwires Back of the neck has been wire wooled to make it satin. Feels lovely and was like this when I bought it No trades please and I'm located in Deal, Kent. Could possibly meet, as I have done before. If you want more info or pics, get in touch
  20. I had a few trace amps back in the day but never really stuck with them. But I always wanted one of these
  21. I've only really got it to practice at home (when I say practice, I mean learn songs) I'm going to put a wooden top on it and use it as a table Pics to follow
  22. yep I knew that. I used to sell them back in the day
  23. Pics to follow but I saw an add on FB for one of these. Sent a message and a PM, was then sent a message by an old mate saying I could have his for the same money. It has always been kept in his studio and is almost immaculate. I'm surprised how big it is but it should get some home use. I normally plug my bass into my 1 watt blackstar combo but it's not really very good for bass. (the overdrive is nice tho) I think it was a bargain at £70
  24. top bass. love mine. glwts
