  1. I used my EVO II at the weekend. A fab sounding bit of kit, as good as anything I've ever used. oh and it weighs bugger all
  2. South east kent. Total Jam have their own bass player . I played with them at the start (cue bass line, ) and for a bit a few years ago. I must admit to really liking the Paul Weller stuff, especially The Style Council number we do. (and I get to play all the guitar solos, which is a change for me these days)
  3. That's great. We also do a Weller tribute called, Stanley Road in which I play guitar
  4. yeah Hi Steve. What's your jam tribute called. (I have played with Total Jam a few times)
  5. I can't comment on the Genz but I ran a PF500 for about 6 years. loved it and still have it in my studio I have been using the RM500 evoII since christmas and I love it. A little comp and a little drive. I've been wanting to switch to Ashdown for ages as I think they're a great company. I'm even thinking about an Ashdown cab to replace my mark bass cabs
  6. I agree here with Loz. The RM stuff is very good
  7. I had one in 1990. I think it was an '89. maple board. Quite a chunky neck IIRC. I took it in PX for something. It was a great bass but I already had 2 P basses so moved it on
  8. PMd
  9. yep RM500 all the way for me. A little compressor and a touch of drive. A really great amp
  10. I must admit, I've not thought thought about a failing jack socket. I've been gigging over 30 years now and it's not happened yet. Amps have blown, strings have broken, leads have broken and the pickup thing but not a jack socket. Still, might happen now I've said it hasn't!!
  11. agreed.
  12. all of which can be fixed/bodged at the gig. Apart from the dead pickup I've never had to change basses due to another failure. But it is best to have a spare. I went to a gig the other night with 5 guitars. Two basses for the Policed set, 2 six stringers and an acoustic for the Paul Weller thing I do too. Utter madness
  13. well I have. My trusty '73 P bass pickup went open circuit during the first set. I was miles from home and didn't have a backup. There was a very faint sound, so I turned everything flat out and put it thru the PA. It sounded pretty awful but got me thru the gig. Now i always carry 2 basses (unless I am using my Jazz bass, where I hope, both pickups wont die at the same time) With the Police tribute, I carry 2 basses with the matching outfits that Sting would have worn.
  14. bass collection basses from the early 90s. Cheap, very good and available as a 5 string
  15. I'll have to start singing custard creams, and see if anybody notices (normally they dont)
  16. Geoff Whitehorn for me. Taste and touch is second to none. My favourite guitar player
  17. Lemmy walks the lady off. it's typical Lemmy
  18. Currently learning relax for my 80s duo, The first video I clicked was this performance. About 3.13 in, Lemmy appears, playing a telecaster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEBXuhqVSws oops, I didn't realise she was that unclothed
  19. oh yeah and my violin which I got when I was about 10. I don't play it, haven't done for years but I still have it. My old violin teacher always wanted to buy it back because he said it was so good
  20. Ok so when I was a kid and people advertised stuff for sale in the local paper, I saw an ad for a Fender Brass £30 ono. could this be a mis-print I thought, so I phoned the number. It wasn't a bass!!
  21. I've got a 50 watt marshall head, master volume. I've had it about 17 years now. Signed by Jim himself. It's in my music room, last used by the late great Chris Tsangarides in his studio (because someone wanted an old(ish) Marshall). A columbus flange pedal, bought in 1988. Boss od-1 about 1990. and a Klotz wide strap (I think it's klotz). Still attached to my precision after 29 years of use.
  22. I'll be sure to say hello next time you're down cheers Mart
  23. I wasn't playing no, but I was sat at the table you had your lunch on!! It was a great set and I love the way you roll songs into songs. I was going to come and say hi and complement you on your playing. My wife plays bass and she loved it too. That band you saw were Coco. They have Harry on bass. He is also very good. Nails that disco thing for sure.
  24. Played in Deal yesterday, Lakland, 2 mark bass heads and 2 x Barefaced cabs. You are a phenomenal player, loved it
  25. I have a 1967 one of these. Light as a feather and tone to die for
