  1. Driving home from Oostende to Brussels last night I listened to the new mix of Abbey Road.. "You never give me your money" just does it for me the most but there is so much.. I'm very moved by the album again and I'm rediscovering it again for the x-th time..
  2. Zombie-Cranberries Don't leave me this way-Communards Anything by Pearl Jam
  3. I remember wanting to buy it when it was previously advertised by Rob but it has the dots on the "fret" instead of the lines I'm used to like on a normal bass.. That kept me from buying it at the time since it's the most beautiful Wal I have ever seen....I still keep looking at it since it's pure bass porn.
  4. I used to gig a lot and had a lot of work from the nineties until around 10 years ago.. Played with rather well known artists in Belgium and had around 120 bands and artists on my cv. Suddenly I got tired of playing too many covers (often the same ones), being stuck in traffic, having to be somewhere five hours or more in advance and being away for ten or twelve hours. Would be okay if all would be great but I found myself driving home at night feeling a bit depressed and the money I earned wasn't really necessary because I had and have a well paid daytime job (I can understand professional players who have to accept anything because they have to make a living out of it). A lot of work was without rehearsal and sometimes you got the call in the afternoon to replace someone and as a bassplayer you have to be on top of the game since everyone is relying on you...Lots of times the others weren't prepared or became sloppy and the gig would be sheer horror but the money kept everyone satisfied (I feel that attitude is still there). Got the impression that people just wanted to have a bass player and not especially me and that anyone would do (I see the pictures of all those bands on facebook and still a chain of bassplayers who are replacing one another). I didn't get calls anymore for bands with their own original music, I started my own band but that's instrumental fusion so the market is limited in Belgium.. So now I find myself turning down offers by countless cover bands (could have had a gig yesterday) and I'm staying at home..I still play lots of bass and I want to surprise myself so I'm learning new things and avoiding routine..I just don't need bands anymore.. I don't miss any of the stuff I mentionned above and I love playing bass (bit of fretless, slap, tapping, harmonics, pick, etc..there is so much to do). Every now and then there is the occasional gig with a couple of friends and recently I agreed again to replace a bass player in a coverband (45 songs without rehearsal) just to know if I could still do that sort of thing if I wanted to and everyone seemed to be really pleased.. I drove home away from the drunken crowd and the noise and I was happy to be home again..I realised again that I didn't miss the whole scene. I would miss playing bass though.
  5. He's playing the five string fretless Sire..sounds just great to me !
  6. Recently bought a Zon fretless here on bass.chat...fantastic bass (still with flatwounds, normally I use roundwounds but I'm leaving them on because it just sounds good) I have a fretless Wal too...hard to compare both of them
  7. It drew my attention because of those colours but apart from that it's still a versatile bass....My girlfriend will hate me for selling this one since she's very fond of the looks but I have too many basses and I find myself going back to the Ken Smith which brings out the "best" in me.
  8. Lots of Wood and Tronics action around here :-) I'll support that.. Had a couple of exchange offers but haven't decided yet..
  9. Selling this bass bought here on BC, comes with a padded gigbag and can be picked up or send (shipment included) A very funky and punchy bass with a variety of sounds (great Miller-ish slap for instance) and rather special to the eye. There used to be other pick up covers on the bass but now there are the more white ones (also made by the builder) I made a quick very crappy video but I guess you can filter your ears enough to get a grasp..(great view on two bikes !) Feel free to check my feedback here on BC and thx for looking.. 11. Sold a Yamaha to Jan..very smooth transaction ..Very trustworthy and highly recommended..Thx Jan !

  13. Bought this a couple of months ago since I loved playing five string again and thought that an extra fretless 5 would be nice... It was especially exciting because it belonged to thé top session bass player around here in Belgium whom I saw several times live with this bass and I had no idea it was his bass which was actually for sale in that small garage of a PA firm. Plays really well and especially the Jaco-ish bridge sound is a treat and the sustain turned out to be great too.. The string spacing is a bit narrow for me (no idea what it is) but that wasn't the "problem". I just don't pick it up as much as I had expected and I prefer playing a four string fretless far more. Turned out there was no extra benefit in having a five string and I don't find myself composing songs on this bass either while other basses inspire me more. Comes with the Original case and shipment to the UK is included (local pickup is also possible but I live near Brussels). edit : Forgot to mention it but no PayPal please, not that I have something to hide but I had problems with their fees and exchange rates in the past during transactions here on BC and I would prefer not to use them again, sorry) Feel free to check my feedback here on bass.chat..I'm not really looking for trades but perhaps a funky five string could do the trick, you never know. Made a video to give an impression of the sound (the bass is passive and it says "Made in Taiwan"). Thx for looking.
  14. A fellow bass-player made this mash-up and he did an excellent job imo..The rest of his videos are a treat too . Thought it was too well played and original to go unnoticed.. (plays a mean guitar too)
  15. Something about them....like them a lot. Crazy since I'm a fusion fan but they have got this brutal and sincere energy which it's very catchy.
  16. I know it sounds cheesy but I'm so happy with your compliment.. I"ve written it before but I'm still recovering from that bicycle accident a year ago (more than 110 sessions for that splattered wrist in the meantime and still counting) and glad that the playing is still appreciated and "possible" (I still feel that I'm not the player I used to be and apparantly I will never heal completely but glad that I can do what I can do). Especially five string is very hard for me to do but I don't want to make it easy for myself.. Thanks again for the compliment, really pleased with it (whether the bass gets sold or not :-))
  17. Bought this around three months ago for the same price but in the meantime there is a bass I really want (and in my favourite colour) so this is for sale. I was amazed by the useful sounds offered by this passive bass and something just said "yes" when I saw the ad in which it was for sale (weird since I don't like black basses). I don't know much about the specs of the basses I buy (I just try to play them) but these are apparently made in China.. I like the yellow-ish fretboard and the low action (I put brand new strings on it) Shipment included to the UK (have to look for a gigbag since there wasn't one when I bought it). No PayPal please (their fees and exchange rates surprised me a lot in the past so I would prefer an international money transfer, check my feedback here on BC) Made a video which gives an impression of a couple of sounds...(still recovering from my bicycle accident which splattered my right wrist but perhaps that teaches me how to play more laidback :-))
  18. No problem, I always think : "that's the way it is supposed to be !" :-) GLWTS
  19. I'm selling a five string Fender Jazz and if it gets sold, we might talk again :-) I'm just in a Bogart-fase at this time so your timing is again great :-)
