  1. Hi, just thought I would share my thoughts on my latest purchase. I have been happy playing a Manton Titan 5 string live for some time and plan to continue doing so. I never use the B string as I use fat flats and "down tune". To maintain some string tension I tune G, C, G, C, F, which makes there music playable haha! so my requirements are unusual and very tailored to the band. My ideal bass would be Lightweight, Multiscale and longer than my current 35" scale on the E. It must also have a killer/"even" sounding pickup system, with a solid bottom end, that works well with pedals. In "dreamland" it would be headless too but getting something so niche is outside my budget. I looked around and amazingly have found that the current Spector Dimension 4 seemed close to my requirements so I headed off to Bass Direct with a handful of cash and some trades. It didn't disappoint. The strings have a nice tension, bass is nice and lightweight. The neck is thin and fast but what I really love is the control system. The Fishman Fluence pickups sound great as are very usable. By that I mean that they seem to sound great on all the settings and have plenty of low end on tap. I have been playing with it and recording at every opportunity. I'm inspired! Here is a review of the same bass: Spector NS Dimension 4SFB review | Guitar World
  2. Thx, I do want to have the same set up/sound live. I also have a loop in my current set up so will mess around with that approach when I get sorted.
  3. Thanks for the advice, trials will commence next weekend.👍
  4. Hi, I have a small pedal chain but am struggling to successfully introduce more drive. The chain that I have been using for some time is: Bass in > A loop pedal (containing a Boss Synth and Dirty Robot) > Boss Flanger > Teck 21 Dug Pinnock preamp, which is Di'd. I normally run no more that one pedal, along with the DP (which has compression/distortion and a tuner). The results are great and I have had loads of complements about the tone. I am now at the point of recording new tracks and want to introduce more distortion and finding that early in the chain isn't working and I don't want to stick it the dirt on the end as I will loose the XLR output at the end of the chain. What do I try next? Some pointers would be much appreciated as it will save me from experimenting at band rehearsals. Dirt will comer from either a Chief Disruptor and or Grizzly fuzz/distortion. Any help would be much appreciated. Ed
  5. Just a heads up that I'm part way though a UK tour with Hearts and Hand Grenades on their 1st UK Tour. In my humble opinion all 3 bands complement one another are now on fire If any basschatters come along it would be great to catch up. I'm bassist with the Hellcats but will miss the last 3 dates due to other work commitments. 7. I just listened to your Dropbox link, great sounding bass.
  8. I'm having a clear our so here are some guards that I have accumulated over the years. You can have them all for £125 + P&P. A couple of jazz guards and well used precision guard and a damaged cream jazz guard that is free for collection. The Dimension V and Stingray are £30 each The remaining guard is from either a Jazzmaster or Jaguar 6 string Postage at cost. Dimension and SR5 are £30
  9. Beautiful! Is this based on "Rascal" electrics?
  10. I have one of these, love it lots and it's a keeper. As the label says from the Peerless factory. If I recall correctly they kept making them under their own nail after the production moved elsewhere so a bit later than you suspect? The build is superb and it comes with lighter tuners and a smaller headstock. I upgraded the bridge on mine Jack Cassidys are great basses, it will handle any genre of music from country to metal. GLWTS
  11. These are great. I had one years back and it had a great character and sound. GLWTS
  12. Agreed, I was blown away by this bass and paid more. It is one of the nicest that I have played and I did think about putting it under the bed but it is sold now. Ed
  13. Lat call here at £600 as I have an offer elsewhere Thanks for looking
  14. I know this bass; it is a great instrument. GLWTS
  15. My gigging and recording pedal, great bits of kit! GLWTS
  16. What a wonderful bass. GLWTS
  17. Nice, I have the passive version and love it. These are way better than a backup bass and are the real deal. GLWTS
  18. Well, I've had this up for a while at £650 and offers so one last push. I may keep it (it is a brilliant and versatile bass) or sell elsewhere. Thanks for looking.
  19. A heads up that if there is no interest on I'll be advertising elsewhere or as I'm looking for a baritone may use it as a basis for a build project it has a great sound
  20. Hi, just a head up in the hope of some offers as I'm going to be advertising elsewhere or looking to trade.
  21. Yes, no problem but may take a few days to sort out.
  22. This is me playing this bass with Adam and The Hellcats in Treefforest I think, great gig! It looks great under lights IMHO
  23. I understand. I'll be detuning to C, G, C, F. Everything has been written like that and I can't make the needed in standard tuning. It's good fun actually and doesn't sound as bad as you would think 👍.
  24. The bass cut seems to have a dramatic effect as a big cut can sound like you have cut the volume. The treble has only minimal effect so I'm playing with the bass most of the way up and the treble quite far down. The tone is great though so a bit less control is no big deal for me. It is a nice smooth ray sound. I haven't tried it in a band yet though
