  1. Interesting, I recently picked up a Gibson Studio which I'm not allowed to play until Christmas. I have tested it though and I think it may be broken as it plays and sounds great, the bridge seems solid, it doesn't have neck dive or any flaws other than the usual signs of a used bass. Note: According to the internet they all have those faults but it seems to me that the "Studio" solved a lot of those. Just as well I don't believe everything I read! My colour too!
  2. Thanks, a good selection of HB's.
  3. Thanks, I updated the weight with a figure. What is already apparent is that there seems to be plenty of choice. I really like the Cort but it is active. Also my 1 experience of trying a passive Jazz in the band wasn't the best. I got my but it kind of got lost and although I am sure I could have made it work I want something I can just sub in an emergency. Very impressed with the MB5 if I could get a good one
  4. Hi, just planning ahead for next year and as a musician who plays acoustic guitars, 6 string electrics and bass I'm looking to keep things simple and to avoid having to check instrument battery levels as much as possible. I have already done this with my electric guitars. This is for rock music and I often tune down. I currently have a nice Spector Legend as a back up, which is great but I will probably trade or sell once I get a replacement...anyhow! My criteria is: Preferably 5 string or 4 and able to detune to D or C Nothing to heavy in weight (Up to 9.5 lb/4.3kg) Passive! It won't get played much so I don't want to worry about batteries. I don't want to spend a lot on it. I don't want to be worrying where it is when playing at a gig Needs to work in a 5 peice rock band Any thoughts much appreciated Ed
  5. I just got away with a standard long scale set but it was tight.
  6. Thomastic for me. Expensive but the sound great and so haven't needed replaced 2 years on
  7. I have only gone and gotton myself a Gibson Studio Thunderbird. Very pleased with it but but it was used and then stuck in a cupboard for 5 years so needs new strings. Almost everything that I currently own has flats but I'm thinking Sunbeams on this top make the most of the gnarly sound. Any other suggestions before I take the plunge?
  8. Active? Can you explain the controls please and give an idea of weight?
  9. Just wondering, do the pickups on this sound more Thunderburdy or EB0'y?
  10. Is the Tele bass still for sale and if so what is the weight?

Hi Eddie, it’s still for sale and 4kg

  11. Thanks, It's one of my cheerier tracks
  12. Loving the result in collaboration with 13 Sound Studios. Song is original and Bass gear is G&L LBl11, Tech 21 DP and a Laney The 85 Octave. All good fun! ▶︎ Voices | Eddie Mole (bandcamp.com) or https://eddiemole.hearnow.com/voices "Everyone has doubts and worries at some point as they travel though life. Sometimes its just in your own head or in the form of advice from others. Either way, you can hear the voices whispering away in this song." Enjoy
  13. Great value for a capable bass!
  14. oops apologies, can an admin move this to the sharing music bit.
  15. I hope that you enjoy listening to this as I did making it. Feedback much appreciated.
  16. Sounds great and if you play the 2 vids together it sounds even better. I don't need this, would love it though
  17. Here you go, something different from me. I welcome constructive criticism
  18. Very nice, I have the 5 string version. I think they only made these Legends with the 3 band EQ for 1 year. After that you had to buy a Custom or move up to the Rebop or Euro for that option. Once of the nicest sounding Legends.
  19. oof stop tempting me to buy a bass that I don't need with money that I can't spare 🤣
  20. Yes it is the first bass that I have had where I can flick though the 3 settings and get a great usable tone in each, without having to change the volume.
  21. Great instrument, their Telecasters are my 6 string of choice. Good choice!
  22. The green would have been my preference but I wasn't prepared to pay the extra or wait, as I liked the faded black too. I did my usual bit of research and only found two negatives, that didn't seem to be clear cut and both referred to the 5's. 1. A reported issue with a weak string with the first batches but read that it had been fixed 2. A bit of neck dive as they are lightweight. There were also plenty of people who said theirs were fine and well balanced. You are right to be cautious as I had a weak string an Epiphone Thunderbird Pro 5 that made the B string useless. Hopefully that is all sorted and neither Not a problem with the 4 obviously. I guess the secret is to try before you buy.
  23. I have an update in that I have tried the dirt pedals before the DP pedal but for recording am getting too much background noise, I'm much happier with going straight from the Grand Disrupter or Grizzly into my scarlet and then messing with the sound post recording. If I decide to use the combo live I think I may need to do some signal splitting as I don't want to be turning dials in a live performance.
