1. My rig is both light and thunderously loud, even with one speaker (details in the small print below.) It might not be to your taste though.
2.
There are new members that might not know my age. Age is a factor in many BC discussions. I wish more members would include their age in their posts and threads. Blue
I suspect that many members are cagey about their age as they would prefer that their opinions were not viewed through the prism of their age. There is a distressing tendency of too many members to assume that their views are superior by virtue of superior age; far too many members adopt a patronising attitude towards young members in a way that would not be tolerated by the moderators were the recipients of the comments, for example, female.
3. Twas ever thus. The music has its fair share of loud egotistical nutters, just as it always has. Many perfectly normal musicians, after a period of fame confuse arrogance and egotistical behaviour with the normal expression of talent. At least he hasn't claimed to be bigger than Jesus. Yet.
4. The only thing I ever disliked about these fabric covered amps was/is the way that pet hair is woven into them and then superglued into place whenever I'm not looking.
5.
I've just taken the plunge with lead vocals.
Brilliant! We need more singing bass players.
6.
Agreed..plus as the inner core is steel, even if you think you have allowed them ample time to dry off, they are still prone to rust.
Good point, I used to peg mine on the washing line for a full sunny day.
7. I used to used a mixture of boiled water and white vinegar when young. That freshened them up nicely for a while. Less flammable than meths, too!
8. Better than anything made by me would be.
9. A tragedy indeed. Also sounds like criminally negligent driving, too.
10. How could he not hang on our every word, desperate for our approval like a puppy with self-esteem issues?
11. No bass in sight, but they are indisputably the coolest instruments of all. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/01/21/travel/swedish-ice-orchestra-2/
12. Experienced this more times than I care to remember! I think it stems from the guitarist's mistaken belief that he is the most important person in the building and the landlady's knowledge that she IS the most important person in the building.
13. I've always been more of a rocker. ☺
14. I've never been to a vintage hollow, but I believe that the Wombles live in one. Hobbits, too.
15.
Bakithi kumalo
Bless you!
16.
My first electric (a noname from the Freeman catalogue of the time - late 1960s).
Ah, Freemans. Bradford's answer to Savile Row!
17. I have a TC Electronics BG250 which isn't cheap, but is smallish, light and powerful and sounds beautiful across the range. It also has other handy practice stuff like a built in tuner, aux in and headphone socket.
18.
Paul Simon plays bass on 'You Can Call Me Al' - the part is played on a six string bass and decorates alongside the familiar groove
I thought it was a big fat black guy (if you'll excuse the blunt description.) I have a foggy memory of seeing him interviewed and saying that he was 'allowed' to put the mini bass solo in because it was being recorded on his birthday. I could have dreamt that, though.
19.
Someone with a music degree. . . . who can't play Mustang Sally without slapping.
I cant play Mustang Sally without wanting to slap someone...
20. Ah yes. I'd seen a clip before, but it doesn't get less disturbing.
21. And I would have loved to have been able to talk about ways to eradicate Japanese bindweed! I'm actually happy to help out in any way, but am not sure what I could contribute to the proceedings.
22. I definitely needs songs to have meaning in order to remember them. I am also something of a prudish singer. I find songs such as Sixty Minute Man difficult to sing with a straight face let alone the likes of Sir Psycho Sexy or Prison Sex.
23.
Does this count? https://www.youtube....h?v=QMWUYMWlEyo
That disturbs me in so many ways.
