1. One of the things I love about Basschat is the diversity of topics and the frivolity of subject matter. However this thread may be the most pointless topic of all.
2. I like Status Quo. A lot of good tunes, decent blokes and no pretentious posturing.
3. I went from 212 to 410x2. Don't regret it, although I do now have roughly 3x the speaker area (assuming the are flat which they aren't!)
4. Jobs for life do still exist, I had one as a maths teacher.
5.
73. Jaco Pastorius Jaco Pastorius - Jaco Pastorius
So just to be clear, issue 73 is on Jaco Pastorius?
6. I'm always intrigued by terms such as 'Joe Public' and 'Hoi Polloi', etc. It implies that the speaker is somehow superior to the general population and I tend to think that if one needs to makes such an assertion, then it probably isn't true.
7.
Eldritch replaces Dickinson intrigues me a lot more.
Now you mention it, I can hear him doing a fab job in Maiden.
8.
I suppose I best enter myself.
Is that even possible?
9.
Who cares? All the interesting new music on the BBC is on 6 Music and occasionally on Radio 3 or 4.
In your opinion, of course. Radio 1 plays a lot of new music all of the time, just not new music that you like. I personally approve of the BBCs strategy of targeting different demographic groups through different stations. 'Interesting' is a very subjective term.
10. David Lee Roth from Van Halen days to swap places with Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden. 80s Andrew Eldritch to replace Michael Stripe. I would actually go to that gig!
11. I'm generally an Absolute Radio man but only when they have DJs who don't talk too much. I like the Saturday rock show.
12. Someone stole my precision. Since then my aim has been terrible. Okay, okay. I'm leaving.
13. On the right guitar, that could look awesome.
14.
my idiotic comment about 5'ers not being cool had now been removed! #drunkthread
On the plus side, we don't need to tar and feather you as a warning to others now.
15. Although I can't define it, the look of a bass is very important to me. If I don't like the look of a bass, I won't enjoy playing it. Eg, I don't like the look of a Status King Bass (too blocky) but I do like the look of a Ritter.
16.
My own personal medication.
Good idea. I should take mine in case I get lucky at a gig, too....
17. I use an EQ pedal on board for evening out tone when OD or fuzz. I use a Behringer pedal. Excellent sound and dirt cheap.
18. Almost nothing. Spare lead, extension lead. That's about it. I'm quite fastidious re maintenance of gear, though, so the chances of much going wrong are vanishingly small. In 30+ years of gigging, the worst that has happened was an A string giving way which made for some exciting fingering.
19. Maybe not criticised, but there was a whiff of superiority that could have been construed as sneering for a while.
