1. I need to get a couple of sets of LaBella Deep Talkin' flats. My two usual online sources (stringbusters and stringsdirect) aren't able to help me with the particular set I want (either Light or standard guage, std scale, 5-string) . Google shopping has drawn a blank, as has ebay. Any other suggestions for where I might find these online ? .... prefer not to pay shop prices. Thanks, Andy
 2.
So... have you bought this bass then?
I wish No, actually, the adamovic I wish was mine is this Except, not being remotely any kind of virtuoso player, I'd have one of the versions of that body with less cutaway. But a fiver, fretless, and hollow with that colour combo is definitely up my street. Sorry ... didn't intend to hijack the thread ... was just intrigued by the resemblance of Davo's bass to an adamovic. Andy (oops, just realised you probably meant the OP)
 3. My guess would have been Adamovic Check the resemblance ... it even extends to the headstock Andy

 5.
So, I wondered if anyone has any hi-res photos they took that they think really captured the spirit of the day..and if so, could we use them?
I wasn't there, but this (from the photo thread) encapsulates what I'd hope to find at a bass bash ... a bunch of bass geeks chatting and playing basses So when's the next SE bash ... do I have to wait a year ?
 6.
a bloody pickup is goingto cost me more than i gave for the bass! Bloody hell.
In that case you got a bargain bass Andy
 7. That page also has 'auto adjust for DST' which must be why the problem fixed itself before I read your post
 8. Somebody needs to adjust something (server time ?) so that posts don't show up time-stamped 1 hour into the future.

 11. Only place I managed to try an Eminence was at the Bass Gallery in camden. It was some time ago and I'm not sure they always have one in stock. Depending on how urgent your need is, you may want to arrange to meet people with EUBs at the next bass bash. I'd be happy to take my BSX Allegro to the next south east bash for instance. Or if that bass might be your thing, then PM me to arrange something if/when you're in London. Andy
 12.
Yep Andy, you are already on my list of people to show the bass to!
Heh heh, couldn't remember if I'd already voiced that thought or not
 13.
I have one of these arriving in the very near future - a Veillette Archtop Bass. More versatile than a Rob Allen and Godin as it has the magnetic pickup as well, and the piezo can dial in a nice uprightish tone.
When that arrives I'd be very interested to A/B that with my Rob Allen Deep 5. Andy
 14. There's something similar in Demark St (London) at the moment ... that 'scroll' is quite distinctive.
 15.
Medeski, Martin and Wood. Or Chris Wood's album with his brother - 'Ways Not to Lose', which is very different to MM&W.
Chris Wood's tone is awesome. Can't think what MMW album in particular to recommend though. (But probably stay clear of 'The Dropper'). Shack-man would be a good one perhaps, or 'End of the World Party' . I believe however that his tone is in good part due to (expensive) 'gut' strings. Andy
 16.
These guys are awesome. Not exactly DB, but three-string Russian bass. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terem_Quartet
I'll bet that 3-string balalika is a b****r to travel with Nice sound though ... 17. 18 seconds into Ink in the Well ... me likey ....want to hear some more
 18. Sorry for the no-show (I think there were two people interested in rob allen my deep 5) .... work prevailed (unfortunately). Andy
 19.
I work in central London so any time you want to meet up just yell!
Thanks ... Andy
 20.
Patiently waiting for my Veillette Archtop to arrive...
ooh ... hope you can bring that to a bass bash sometime
 21.
I got whackers on the shelf too. They're on the shelf for a reason...
Do tell ....
 22.
I'm in Ealing - happy to let fellow bassist in for half an hour to check out strings one weekend.
Very generous of you, I may take you up on that after that after the bass bash. Thanks, Andy
 23. Thanks Nik
And yes, there are opportunities for trading and buying & selling.. In fact, there's a post on this thread that I'm sure will fill up this week with lists of what people are bringing along for that very purpose..
I'm having trouble spotting a specific list about buying/selling, can you point it out to me ? Otherwise I'll just add notes to the big list (attendees+gear) Andy
 24.
This is a bargain, and with a little work these little beasties can take on the world: I did my first ever gig with one of these (and I think the only thing I had modified at the time was the bridge).
That's a neat bass. Currently obsessing about the sound of short-scales (played a mustang RI in a shop yesterday ... woo! ) and that might be a route I take. Andy
