1.
Well, quite a bight tone usually - I can get a good slap sound out of it with a bit of EQ on the amp end of things, roll back the tone and it's quite pounding - put on some nylon wrapped strings and it can sound more 'URB' though. Not as versatile as the normal Status basses, but still got a good range of tones in it.
I have the fretless five version of this bass and love it, particularly with nylon wound strings. While nothing (IMHO) is ever going to sound like a URB except a real URB, my electro makes a pretty nice substitute. Steve's fretted 4 should be a nice sounding bass. Somebody go for it
2.
I think I might look seriously for a 700RB210. Do they have a clear, deep sound? And has anyone tried the neo versions@ Chris
I bought my GK 700RB115 precisely because it sounded deep and clear, to my ears. It is for sale now, if you still happen to be in the market for a combo. Check link below in my sig. Cheers, Andy
3.
Bass, amp., 2 cabinets, stand, 2 speaker cables - guitar lead, 4 way mains unit, spare set of strings, spare lead, extra long mains extension cable, roadie wrench, gaffa tape, spare strap, spare mains lead, gloves (particularly in winter) and anything else that may be lying around.
Roadie Wrench ? I can guess, but what exactly is it you've got there ? What brand names should I look for ? Andy
4.
I like the idea of a Di box - I'll get one.
A Sansamp DI box is a great investment, not only a DI but an instant 'fatness' stompbox. You can also have the straight signal going to your rig, plus the treated signal (allegedly based on the sound of a miked cab) going to the PA. Must admit i don't regard mine as an amp substitute, but I may start doing that. I bought mine 2nd hand but having used it I'd have no hesitation in buying a new one if I ever lost it. Andy
5. 1 Bass or 2 if the variety of material demands it. (No longer take a back up bass) 1 Bass combo Guitar stand(s) Instrument leads (including spares and choice of length) EITHER SansAmp DI, Reverb, Floor Tuner, Boss graphic, 9V Power supply and power daisy chain. OR Pandora PX4B (if floor space or setup time is limited) PLUS associated patch cords and spares. EITHER 2-way power extension if I know the venue and band well enough to know I'm just looking after myself, OTHERWISE 4-way so my extension is usable by others. At least 2 9V batteries (covers pedals and Active basses) and sometimes 4 AAAs (Pandora) Old sets of strings as spares. Spare amp Kettle lead Small toolkit, including Allen keys (action) and some superglue and fuses, and Mini Maglite Spare strap Gaffa tape Towel ( LINK ) Small story: on a recent gig, we went through most of my contingency materials (spare strap excepted) in an effort to get the guitarists P.A. working. It didn't happen (speculation, internal fuse broken), so we walked away from the gig without playing. Maybe carrying spare amps (or having friends local to the gig you can rely on for spares) is a good thing. Andy
6.
guessing it didnt sell on ebay?
You guessed right
7. I've just discovered that the wonderful internet archive actually has a copy of the specs of my combo. Here you go .... SPECS
8. Any Offer considered. This has to be useful as a home practice amp, or amp for 'coffee bar' gigs, for someone, surely ?
9. Gorgeous looking bass. If my Eclipse LTD (5) is anything to go by, it'll sound gorgeous too. Best of luck with the sale.
10. On the pigtronix EP-1: I don't suppose it has any of the 'mods' does it ... extra toggles on the back near the jacks ? And what the situation with the power supply ? Are you including the pigtronix power supply + UK->US adapter ?
11. Still available ... make my day, make me an offer
12. This has got the thumbs up from three basschatters besides me ... it's a great amp, make me an offer
13. I'm up for it, not 100% sure I'm going to be free though. If I come, I'll be bringing one of THESE
14.
That's a bit illogical, isn't it? I mean, how did the bass get to their shop in the first place? Presumably in the same (kind of) box as they advise you not to use.
All I know is, I've seen people leaving music shops with new guitars in extremely flimsy looking cartons. Maybe the cheaper guitars are packed this way individually but shipped in bulk in a larger box ? I dunno ... but what the guy said to me confirmed my pre-conceptions about flimsy guitar boxes. Seems my most likely option is a visit to local supermarket or self-storage co., followed by a bit of DIY with tape and stanley knife.
15. Okay, I tried my local guitar shop, and they said "you really wouldn't want to post a valuable guitar in the boxes we have here". Any other suggestions for sourcing boxes suitable for posting guitars ? I would have thought that eBay would have loads of people offerring boxes (given how many eBay users must use them), but I've drawn a blank on guitar/bass boxes so far.
16. Thanks loudandclear .... .... aaaand ..... BUMP !
17.
Has this gone now?
The combo is still up for sale. Make me an offer
