1. Hello gents! My band are playing the fantastic T.Chances venue, on Thursday night 31st of March. Our influences are A Wilhelm Scream, No Trigger and Strike Anywhere. https://www.facebook.com/ShipsDown/ Some of sounds are here. https://shipsdown.bandcamp.com/releases Hope to see you there!
2. Have decided to step aside for this one, been to a few in a row now and I'll be redecorating my first house all summer long! Enjoy!
3. Finally gigged with my Sparkle Pearl White Stingray. Really love this bass, lightweight and great sounding. Have had it for just over a year now
4. The promoters name is Mark and we played at the St Moritz club last Friday. We got paid, not a lot but we did get paid which is more to be said then most clubs. It was a great night though. Good crowd for an originals show.
5.
....was using what appeared to be a Music Man Stingray 4H on Ant & Dec's Takeaway show tonight, but it was in a black and white Fodera yin-yang type paint job with front facing LED's. I'm sure that can't have been manufactured by Ernie Ball, as I know from recent experience that they "don't do custom spec". Im sure there isn't any protection regarding the yin-yang symbol, but I wonder how Fodera feel about it?
They do do custom spec. You just need to be known enough to get it done. A Wilhelm screams bass player has a custom one which he got recently and he told me the story behind it.
6. I know Wunjos in London have a DR5 as of a few weeks ago. They may still have it.
7. Great basses, never found a light one though, quite heavy. Sound great and really should have taken off but they were competing in a crowded market. The 6 strings had wide spacing for the time which I would have loved.
8. Gig went very well! My vocals were pretty poor though... We just released the full Demo now! Better mixed and mastered then the last post. https://soundcloud.com/ships-down/sets/ships-down-demo-1
9. So my band SHIPS DOWN. Finally released something. Took a long time to put it all together and we are finally at the stage to start gigging and releasing music. Big influences are A Wilhelm Scream, Strike Anywhere, Rise Against and No Trigger. In the full demo there is one of my face melting bass solos! 10. Hello all! Finally my band is at the point of gigging and releasing music. For about 10 years (And 3 cities later) I have been desperate to join or form a Melodic Hardcore Punk rock band in the being of A Wilhelm Scream, No Trigger and Strike Anywhere. Last year I had enough of waiting and decided to give a serious go of it. A couple of pub meetings later and finally got a proto lineup. Took a few months to get a stable bunch of people and then the drummer left! Managed to recruit an Indonesian guy who was amazing, I had some real reservations as he didnt own a kit and claimed he air drummed to learn our songs. Well what an amazing guy! Total rhythm brother. Organising practices, kit, Band logo competitions, gigs, contacts, demos, photo shoots etc. I am exhausted! My other half has been so understanding considering I should have been helping her plan our upcoming engagement party! Finally released everything on Facebook today, Demo, Logo, Photos and first gig announcement and I am relieved! But cant stop there, we don't quite have enough material for the first gig so we need to hurry and learn some more covers in the next week! I feel very musically fulfilled right now! If you have the time and the drive you CAN form it. It just took me three city moves, a divorce and lots of sweat and depression to get there! If you guys could give us a listen to see what you think that would be great! 11. Hello gents! This is the first time a band I formed from the very start has gotten to the stage of releasing music and gigging! Our influences are A Wilhelm Scream, No Trigger and Strike Anywhere. https://www.facebook.com/ShipsDown/ If you would like a quick sneak preview of one of our songs in full just go here! 12. Hello all. I have 3 sets of Dunlop straplock strap ends available completely unused as I only use one strap for all of my basses. So if you have a lovely strap collection these could be very useful! No haggling. Ta. £10 for all three sets. Add 2.50 for postage to mainland UK.
13. Hello all. I have here a Staff MB350 Jaguar bass. Interesting configuration, 34" scale, twin Musicman style humbuckers, jazz electrics, Jaguar body, slim P bass neck, matching headstock. Has a brand new set of Daddario Prosteels. Also comes with Schaller straplocks, a snazzy space themed strap and a terrible terrible "bag". I bought this on a nostalgia trip as I had one of these as my first bass. Everything works as it should, I have recently set it up with surprisingly low action, good look rosewood fingerboard. PLENTY of turns left on the truss rod. I have recently wet and dried some frets to level them out. There a few beauty marks on the body none of which go through the paint. The control plate is quite tarnished. £85 picked up from Wimbledon or Central London. No shipping sorry.
14. Not a fan, G&L covers the P+J and looks better. The P is covered by Sandberg. Not a fan of the new bridge either. The usual Stingray bridge would have made it look different enough to maybe win some fans over.
15. They are ultralight weight.
16. I have used these in the past with great results. Specifically catered for Drop C from the factory. They also have a "lighter" Drop C set. http://www.thomann.d...rop_c_heavy.htm
17. Hello gents. I have put up a video with a little bit of bad playing and a review of the ordeal! In the video I am using the Wizard 64's with fresh TI Flats. The bass slightly under 6lbs in weight.
18. Gotoh 201. Best cheapest brand name bridge out there. Chunky, and doesn't look ridiculous. I prefer them over Babicz, Hipshot and Badass. However it's not quick release string changing I should have read the original post better!
19. Got mine today as well. Did we all get the NYXL's? Is it basically just a new nickelwound? Funny thing is I only got around to putting the Flexsteels I got at the bash onto a bass two days ago. I don't think i'll be changing from Elixir though! They are absolutely fine strings, but don't get on with the G string tension.
20. Just bought a Paulownia wood Santander JB200, cheap as chips jazz bass with rear routing. http://www.ebay.co.u...K%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Basically wanted a Jazz bass that is as lightweight as can be. Going to be putting in a set of Wizard 64' pickups and TI Flatwounds. For £70 you can go far wrong. I have owned a 7 String Santander bass before that was fairly good for the price. Hopefully this will be similar. I think it looks pretty smart. https://youtu.be/85kW6Pe_fCk <--- My Review
21. I am finding that the HB Deko Jazzes neck pockets vary wildly in size even with the same models.
