1. Hey guys. I have a VT Bass deluxe which has been modified to replace the old really dull LEDs with bright blue ones, all of the footswitches have been replaced. Due to the higher powered LED's, battery power doesn't seem to play ball with this pedal. You can either revert back to dull LEDs or keep powered on mains. Has some of the silk screening missing through use. Just had a going over at Guitaraid. £140 not including postage. No original box. Havent yet decided to sell, but keeping my options open.
 2. Electric guitars ip at the moment. Les paul set neck and semi hollow PRS style.
 3.
New dekos up, including this solid spruce acoustic bass 'on request'. http://www.thomann.d...sce_ns_deko.htm Left handed jazz bass as mentioned above is still available: http://www.thomann.d...ge_ser_deko.htm Funny, my program thinks that the LH jazz is new as of a couple of minutes ago. There's also a left handed strat.
It's amazing how few guitars are put on there, I know they go quickly, but they are gone without a trace of them ever being there. Not even a Sold out sign. Bass only quality control shocker?
 4.
You should give full disclosure IMO, anything else is misleading. I have a feeling you may know this already, as I notice you had not advertised these on basschat where the Dekos are widely known about and discussed.
I think there is a middle ground here. From now on, if I am selling a full instrument, I will disclose that it was sold to me as a Deko. If it is a part which has a D for defective on it. I will disclose that it was sold to me as a Deko. If it is a part that I am selling which does not have a D on it. Works 100% working fine, then I don't see why I should have to disclose it as it is not part of a Deko instrument anymore and is not deko. If someone specifically asks for the history then I will tell them. My adverts will read accordingly in the next hour and I may even post them on Basschat if I get enough interest. I apologise to anyone who was offended by my moral choices. I knew you were right to an extent when I thought about it a bit.
 5.
Hmm, even if that's not straight-out lying its not exactly a high standard of honesty. You're intentionally withholding information in order to receive a higher price than you would otherwise.
Ultimately the question is, when is an instrument sold for decoration, not an instrument for decoration? There will be people either side of an argument. I see your argument. Say I received a bass, that was sold as a Deko, the body has a D on it, but the Neck has no D and nothing wrong with it after going over it with a fine tooth comb, do I sell the neck for decoration only? Is it necessary that I have to disclose that the body that is not included was considered for decoration only? Do all adverts with bass parts in it say why they aren't part of a whole bass anymore? Say I go to a shop or manufacturer and buy a bass, it's not marked as B stock, however there is an electronics problem and a slight dent in the back of the neck which the shop or manufacturer knock off money. When I fix it and sell it on, should I tell this to the new buyer?
 6. I have been selling some of the dekos off without mentioning they were dekos, because by the time they leave me, they cant be considered for decoration only. I understand that there will be people who are Ok with this and people who are not. When I bring them in, I check for any issues, electronics, truss rod, dents etc. I fix anything that is wrong, and give the bass a good setup and sell it on for an extra £20 that I paid for it. At that point as far as I am concerned, the bass has a dent which I dislose. The fact that is in the shape of the D does not matter. In my entire history of selling basses, hardly anyone has ever asked for the history of a bass and I very rarely give the history of the bass. However I do disclose the history if someone asks. In fact some of the guitars and basses I have received didn't even have the D such as the neck of the jazz I received and my electro classical. Ultimately they get a bass that plays better then the non deko basses and for around £20 cheaper.
 7.
Might be of interest to a few of you guys here (who don't already know): post images Si
Already posted a few days ago when the Tom's at Wunjos mentioned it to me! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/268194-feeler-wunjos-hosting-chat-with-juan-alderete-mars-voltaracer-x/
 8. I front and play bass in a stoner rock band. Sometimes I have to play more basic lines. If it's not straight notes. I find it hard sometimes. But no one else wanted to sing. I am adequate but I generally lose my voice by the end of the set. https://soundcloud.com/chinspinner/oubliette
 9. Today I got to watch, listen and meet my NO 1 Bass playing influence. Brian J Robinson of A Wilhelm Scream. His bass playing has totally shaped my ideal tone and playing style. He is absolutely amazing, we had a lovely chat about his Musicman gear, pedals and how Less then Jake was a big influence on him. A thoroughly nice bloke. I admit I went totally fan boy on him, but he took it with good grace! Most amazing night of the summer so far! And for the uninitiated! 10. Having a chat with the Toms at Wunjos today, and they are bringing in Juan Alderete of Mars Volta and Racer X fame. They wanted to know if anyone from basschat would consider coming to ask questions and to see him demoing Earthquake devices pedals? The shop can accommodate about 20 people. 10 September at Wunjos in Denmark street. 6 til 7 PM. Anyone up for it? 1. Shockwave 2. bcbass 3. Ordep 4. toneknob 6. Sibob 7. Bluejay 8. Happy Jack 9. 11. I really hope my jazz is a one piece like Robs! Love natural ash look bit only when it's matched well or one peice!
 12.
How about going for a veneer top so that you can have a natural finish? As Andy, who has mentioned this thread in another place, does. I have a guitar (Yammy Pacifica) which is a natural finish, even though it's made from about five pieces of wood. If I were doing what you are doing, I'd think about seeing whether a dark brown transparent finish with something to make the grain pop would be a possibility. I googled ash veneers to see if the above was possible, and there are similar veneers. But, I found this ash burl veneer. Wouldn't that look fantastic on a top?
Looks lovely. But I don't have the time, skills or equipment to commit to such a thing.
 13. Headstock and back done!
Looking good, Shame that natural isn't an option. Is the black we see on the back what remains of the original paint? How are you stripping?
Looking at it, actually looks more like 4-5 pieces of Alder and what could be a massive imperfection. So no natural I am afraid! Yes the black was what remained of the original paint. I stripped the initial poly off with heat gun and wallpaper scraper. The black paint and primer was hand sanded, took quite a few hours! The headstock didn't have any primer luckily! Now going to fine sand tomorrow, get some primer and research possible finishes!
 14.
What are you planning to do with it? Or, are you making it up as you go along?
Not sure at the moment! I have a few ideas, Bright Nuclear green like my old Pedulla, Hot pink, Blue and white quarters (Bristol Rovers style!) I have no idea at the moment! Body looks to be at least 2 piece, so probably wont be natural, that and the primer is a real pain! Open to suggestions though! Latest sanding progress.
 15. Jazz minus blocks on sale! https://m.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_20_sb_standard_seri_deko.htm?o=8&ref=mmc_a_8&search=1440017078 Natural with blocks. https://m.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_75_na_vintage_serie_deko.htm?o=2&ref=mmc_a_2&search=1440017859
 16.
Should do. I changed the white pickguard that came on my standard HB jazz for a triple ply black/white/black off ebay. Holes all in the right place. Had to do a little filing around the pickup hole and where it buts up to the bell plate but apart from that that, all dandy!!
Could you link us to that scratchplate? Cheers!
 17. A quick hour this morning reveals the top horn and cutaways. The primer has really penetrated quite deep. I'll be sanding it fine and reapplying another coat.
 18. A quick hour this morning reveals the top horn and cutaways. The primer has really penetrated quite deep. I'll be sanding it fine and reapplying another coat on top of what is left.
 19. How heavy is it Rob?
Few pics of the new 75 J... Unfortunately I missed out on the natural 75 J last night but I did order up a cheeky p bass... It was rude not to really it was less than £20 This bass sounds, looks and plays fantastic... I reckon if you reshaped the headstock and wrote Sadowsky on it you'd fool more people than not.
20.
Hopefully got the progressive for fretless fun otherwise that would be very tempting!
If I had the moolah I would grab the £50 Neck thru thing. Or the £8 black classical!
 21.
Those maple jazzes look good, but I already bought a deko jazz in sunburst so therefore don't need another one ... Right?.....
Defret the Sunburst one and get a maple one for frettedness?
