1. I still highly doubt it's digital. Doug posts a lot on Talkbass and has briefly mentioned the kind of elements he's using for gain stages and clipping etc, it would have been mentioned before now if it was.
2. ^ I think the Distributor is the equivalent to a daisy chain rather than the Isolator I've never been tempted by the Gigrig stuff personally, I find it overpriced and bulky, however it is a very good option for those with massive boards. I ran a simple 9v daisy chain for years quite happily, but am now using a simple Cioks DC5 since it bolts underneath a Pedaltrain Nano/Metro. Hard to make any recommendations as we don't really know what you want. For example, some spend loads on delays, bitcrushers, modulation etc, but for me I just need a nice selection of dirt pedals and a solid octaver, filter and compressor. Also being in London there are a ton of pedalheads nearby that would probably be happy to geek out on fx over a beer and let you try some of their stuff! But the best things to take note of are buy used so you can sell without taking a hit, or order from Prymaxe in the US when they are running their 20% discount codes, or order from a store that has a generous return policy - e.g. they are not based in this country but Thomman and Bax both offer free returns if you just happen to not like the pedal. Many UK shops are a bit more difficult to deal with when returning non-faulty items.
3. Deffo not digital, they are made by hand, however since they use tiny SMD components I expect they probably use a machine to do the actual soldering of components to the PCB!
4. Sounds pretty good, but shame they went for a Bassballs-style filter rather than the Mutron-esque one in the Flyrig.
5. I was looking at ordering something from them last year and the site was a little different, I think you could flick it between € and £ and it was more obvious it was a European site á la Thomann (with better prices mostly!). I was certainly not fooled into thinking it was a UK shop at the time, which I can see would be very easy to do with the way it is now! Free returns and 60 day money back guarantee is a nice way to try these pedals out though!
6.
Bax
They are based in the Netherlands, although their UK site now does a very good job of hiding this fact by providing a UK address whch you'll notice says 'for correspondence only'. I don't think any UK shops have had them yet, so I think it's going a bit far to accuse Andertons of not getting stock due to not paying their bills.
7. Any idea what strings were on it, do they have coloured ball ends? I found the stock D'Addarios so good on the low B I purchased them again when it was time to restring.
8. Which UK shop already got and sold out of their stock then, Bass Direct? I've never seen them in stock anywhere over here.
9.
I've not bought any downloads only from Bandcamp. Is there some way that you can keep track of what you have purchased just in case you have a problem with your computer at some point in the future and you need to download them again? This one of the things that worries me most about downloaded music. It's keeping track of what I have bought and where I have bought it from. My current CD and Vinyl collection is over 2000 albums and singles. Should anything happen to the hard disk that they have been ripped to (and it's back-ups) I know that I can always go back to the originals as a last resort. What I don't know about are the few tracks that I have downloaded from various suppliers. I believe that anything I got from iTunes can be downloaded again, but not everything has come from such a mainstream source, and some of the downloads that I bought directly from bands in the early days of on-line distribution might not even be available any more.
You can login to your account and redownload anything (just click on Collection up at the top right). Not only that, but the mobile app will let you stream anything you have previously bought, and so can Sonos. My NAS had a hardware problem a while ago but I could still stream purchases that way until I got it back up and running!
10. Don't forget to play with the internal dip switches!
11. Incredible pedal and a bargain to boot! 💓 mine.
12.
In post #33 I mentioned removing Netfilter.2 solved all my troubles. It turned up after a Malware Bytes Anti-Malware scan. https://www.fixyourbrowser.com/removal-instructions/how-to-remove-genvariant-adware-netfilter-2-removal-guide/
I ran that too and it picked up nothing, and still get the issue. But only very rarely, so it might just be pot luck that you've not seen it since!
13.
Doc you choose to buy just the downloads deliberately, or is it that the artists don't have CDs or Records available?
Deliberately. I don't have a turntable, so my priority is FLAC > CD > MP3. If FLAC is not an option, I'll go for the CD option, rip it, then chuck it in a cupboard never to be seen again. Physical CDs aren't much use to to me, only CD players I have are the ones in my PC and XBox. I have SONOS and PLEX in the house so I can play anything from my NAS in any room.
14.
Where do you think funk came from?
Outer space. http://youtu.be/38IFCiqc6LQ

16. I buy FLAC from Bandcamp regularly, in fact I can't remember the last time I bought music from anywhere else!
17. Where did you order from?
18. Yes the Q-Tron is still available. I have the manual for the fuzz, I'll report back to tomorrow!
19. Got a set on a T-Bird, I quite like em, but they're not as flexible as the Dunlop Super Brights, which I feel are easier to slap on. I think the Flexsteels are discontinued now according to a recent thread on here though, although they still seem to be sold online. I have an unopened set going spare if you fancy trying some (45-100 I think)!
20. The regular non-vintage P basses also have a slightly slimmer neck with 1.625" nut / 9.5" radius compared to the vintage spec 1.75" nut / 7.25" radius of the Pino. I did not get on with the neck of the Classic 50s P (which I believe is a similar size to the Pino), but my small hands get on just fine with my American Standard P. Squier Classic Vibe is always an option since it comes in the Pino colour scheme!
21. No UK dealers that I'm aware of: http://www.bearfootfx.com/dealers/ Best bet is Prymaxe in the US with one of their 20% discount codes they run from time to time (sign up to their newsletter). Also they have an online chat where you tell them what you want and they will just dish you out a discount code for it! Bought loads from them and never had to pay fees either.
22. A lot of that might be to do with the pickup, which you can 'pick up' separately... But I suspect a lot of it is also to do with that beefy neck. I had a classic 50s for a while and it had something special about it, best sounding P I've ever tried, but found the combo of wide neck / small radius / sharp board edges uncomfortable to play.
23. I wouldn't say identical, more 'close enough for most'. On a slightly different note, I was surprised how different my US B3K and Fin B7K sounded. I would have thought they would be the same with the EQ set flat, but the 3 had way more gain/saturation, more low mid grunt and less highs. I struggled to get them to match in an A/B test!
24. Sounds like you just like the era control on the older model vs the new one that replaces it with extra EQ and toggles, rather than a USA vs Finland thing? Before the change there would have been Helsinki built VMTDs also with the era control, which you might find to sound just like your Seattle version. I replaced my Vintage with a Vulcan, although I'd be interested to see what the new Vintage is like as I found the original too muffled!
25. They sound identical, I thought the Octaver was note sought after because of the rarity of the extra letter, not the tone. Some argue of differences between the Taiwan and Japan versions though.
