1.
No, it's the site, not you. There are a couple (maybe more) of threads on the topic e.g. this one.
Cheers BigBeatNut...I've got myself up to speed now. I hate to be a naysayer when such a lot of work has gone into the new style format, but I'm not sure it's as accessible or user friendly as previous. There must be another way to generate some revenue via the ads tho....?
2. Like a lot of the commenters on here, I miss the back and forth one could have with the old style forum - I've learned a lot just from trawling old 'For sale' threads. It's a lot a less 'mobile phone friendly' than before too (at the moment at least) which is a bit of a pain....in fact, on my android phone, I've no longer got the mobile version of the site. I can click away on the 'use mobile version' button forever and I still get the mini version of the computer based site. Gosh darn it! Is it just me...?
3.
"Distressed"? I'd have described it as "suicidal".
Ha!
4. El Bumpo magnifico
5. Sold pending the usual.
6. A little bit of interest, but it's still here...it needs to go people so it's £120 incl postage.
7. Bump for price drop
8. Still here so time for a bump...
9. Bumpybump
10. I bought a second hand one with the same problem. The key failed to work, so I just drilled it out and smoothed down the rough edge. Not a high tech solution, but it works!
11. Have a look at Minotaur. I clicked on an ad at the bottom the page here and they've got some lovely looking stuff between 25-42 Euros.
12. Hi all, I bought Nialls 4 x 10 and very nice it is too...if I could have justified buying this, I would have snapped it up as it looks immaculate. Sadly, for most of the places I play, this would be too much, but someone is gonna get a great cab for not much money. Nialls a straight up guy and this is a great piece of kit.
13. I'm always curious as to how anyone could cause so much damage to a Bass, just by regular playing... These aren't 'Road Worn' unless your day job is playing Bass in a Fire-eaters band and he really doesn't like you.
14. I could go on and on (and frequently do...) about the genius of Sir Paul. His Bass playing often gets overlooked, but man he could play. Try 'And Your Bird Can Sing' for a left field, obscureish Beatlegem. And then have a go at 'Silly Love Songs'. Ahhhh, Wings...the band the Beatles could have been...
15. ...some guy on US EBay sells a cylindrical bar dealio which the strings pass through first before they go through the guides on the bridge. If I wasn't on my mobile I'd post a link....costs about $30. Might be worth a Google. I found it by accident when looking for mute for an EB3.
16. I think I've got a case that'll fit it...It's a chunky ol' thing. And any biscuits are good biscuits.
17. BumPy bump....
18. Can I bring your attention to this....http://basschat.co.u...stic-bass-l120/ Shameless self promotion ahoy!
19. Hey BC, For sale for SOLDSOLDSOLD [s]£120[/s] we have a mysterious acoustic bass. I bought it many years ago, had a pick up installed by Rob Williams at Woodworm (the one it came with never worked) and then promptly put it in a cupboard. Well...on a stand, really. It's been defretted, but pretty well done (my rather crappy 'phone photo's don't show the job up too well). Acoustically, it sounds lovely - very upright-y. With the pick up, it really sings. I have no idea what PUs are in it, but it cost me a few quid and they sound lovely. Two stacked knobs give you a lot of tonal options. Cosmetically, it's had a ding or two (and a small patch of inexpilicable criss cross scratches on the lower side) but it's still a handsome thing. Nice shaped back too. It's got a plastic plug where the original jack socket was as it's now got an end pin jack. It's got an old set of flats on it which add to it's Double Bassyness. As for the make...I haven't got a clue. It looks Italian. Nice detailing around the sound hole and it looks well made, but after an exhuastive Internet trawl, I have found no info about it anywhere. It might be incredibly rare or it might be a beater. Find out for £120. I'm based just outside Brum, in sunny Halesowen so try before you buy is an option. Bring biscuits.
20. Hey Basschatters all, Here we have a lovely example of a Retrovibe RV4 in a beautiful boy racer red. When I bought this (about 2 years ago...?) it came with chrome hardware which I have since updated to black, thanks to Dave at Probass. More info you say?...check here: http://www.probass.co.uk/Home.html Yep, the body and headstock are based on A Famous US Based Guitar Manufacturer Notorious For Their Litigiousness, but it doesn't sound like one. It's got a lovely growl to it and it's as pokey as a really pokey thing. Nice low action, slim neck...it's a peach, really. Cosmetically, it's immaculate with no nasty marks at all. It's been played out of the house about 6-7 times. Selling due to A. Christmas coming B. Purchase of an EB3 C. New head/cab required. Not necessarily in that order. I'm based in Halesowen, just outside of Brum, so I'm happy for you to come and have a twang on it. I'll post it out if necessary -[s] should be about £15.[/s] All I'm asking is the pocket money price of SOLD This is a really gorgeous bass and gets admiring glances and the thumbs up from soundmen whenever I've gigged it. It really needs to be played and that ain't happening at the moment. Treat yourself...
21.
Flatwounds played with a pick, of course. Generally rhythm / solo switch set to solo, bass on and treble off. They are great basses especially for the money
...what he said. They take a bit of setting up, what with the moveable bridge and all and maybe a tweak of the truss rod too, but they sound lovely. I've slid a bit of stiff foam pipe insulation down by the bridge to act as a mute for that gen-u-wine Macca thump. There are loads of mod ideas on the Hofner Hounds forum if you want to go down the whole Beatlesvibe route. I popped a couple of Teacup knobs on mine, painted the nut and the selector switches, flipped the pick ups, Brasso'd off the 'Ignition' logo on the truss rod cover and I've got a pretty damn authentic and sounding looking Bass. I also slapped on a 'Bassman' sticker for that 'Let It Be' vibe. Yup, I'm a nerd. You will love that Bass.
22. They're not moldy...they're reliced.
